theaxehennig - Are the legs cast in yellow, or are they painted? If it's the latter, that's particularly impressive if it didn't damage the application.

I’m happy to report I’ve restored my Rude. I used Lacquer thinner (I use this instead of Acetone, because I find it less harsh on plastic), Testors Gloss Coat (clear) spray and a non-textured paper towel. I made sure the paper towel had a good amount of lacquer thinner on it and used my fingertip to vigorously rub the stain away. I then ran the leg (only the thigh to calf portion) until cold water and used hand soap to dilute any remaining chemical on the leg. Then, I used my clamp and sprayed the gloss coat onto the leg (again, just the leg) to remove any “whitening” which appears after using harsh chemicals on plastic. I didn’t see the need to do this process with the arms, so I just swapped them with the pink Rude figure. Also swapped the boots, although the former boots are a half-shade darker than the latter. Hope this helps anyone: WOW

Go easy on the lacquer thinner and don’t cover too much territory with the chemical. Be quick about rinsing and spray with the gloss to restore the sheen.

Cool to see people are able to fix the staining, but wtf? I really want that Rude, but I think its ridiculous that you have to clean up figures put out by a multi-million dollar company that has been around for like 70+ years. What a mess.
... i'll still buy because its rick rude. but c'mon.

It does help the process. I went ahead and did what Axe suggested and it worked like a charm! I didnt' even have to hit the legs with the clear coat. The stains came out great! Unlike Axe, I did the shoulders. Took the stains out just as easily. I did have to hit the shoulders with clear coat to remove some whitening from the lacquer thinner, but otherwise, totally easy process. Grabbed the thinner at Walmart for like $9. Worth it!

Do these figures only get stained if their in a package a while with a soft goods clothing on? Because most new figures that come with soft goods clothing , I open immediately and I sit it on my display counter and I’ve never had any staining. But , most of all my older figures that I kept moc for over a year +, when I finally decided to open them, they were mostly stained, not all but some.

What’s the point of having a soft goods anything if it’s just gonna stain the figure? I have a lot of Legends, and only ones I’ve noticed stains on were King King Bundy, Rick Flair, Rick martell. And those are the ones I kept MOC for a long time. So, idk if it would make a difference if they came seperate then put on the figure loose or Not, so far out of around 230 loose legends figures, I haven’t noticed many stained figures besides the ones I kept MOC for over a year Volkoff stained pretty bad as well. And I think Legends 1 Steamboat did too. I got all the legends and mine are all fine except for Martel and Bundy. Which Bundy isn’t that bad.

If they are older and packed with soft goods on, the chances are high that they will be stained. I think like five years ago Bill mentioned that where they could they were going to try to pack soft goods off the figures in the package to try to prevent it. I think it was also mentioned at some point they "fixed" the staining issue by the process the soft goods were made but that doesn't seem to be the case.

If not then no need in spraying? In your case anyway.
