I’ve heard people using baking soda with water. Has anybody ever tried that?

Ill never believe anything gets stains out until I actually see someone post proof. More then once Ive seen people say "its works Ive done it" but yet nobody ever shows proof. I shall document in this thread. The cream comes today, Rude tomorrow.

As much as i prefer soft goods with my figures I think Mattel should try packaging the figures with the cloth accessories to the side to avoid these issues. What’s the point of having a soft goods anything if it’s just gonna stain the figure? I have a lot of Legends, and only ones I’ve noticed stains on were King King Bundy, Rick Flair, Rick martell. And those are the ones I kept MOC for a long time. So, idk if it would make a difference if they came seperate then put on the figure loose or Not, so far out of around 230 loose legends figures, I haven’t noticed many stained figures besides the ones I kept MOC for over a year Volkoff stained pretty bad as well. And I think Legends 1 Steamboat did too.

Just wondering, does anyone know what causes the staining?

Just wondering, does anyone know what causes the staining? When they dye the soft goods the darker colors often stain because there is excess dye on the material and it stains the plastic when packaged on a figure. You can try to prevent it by soaking soft goods in cold water to wash out the extra dye

I read somewhere once that lining the inside of the soft goods with scotch tape would prevent the dye from touching the figure. Has anyone ever heard of that or even tried it? I might try it i keep some figures without the soft goods in fear of staining. Id love to display Rick Martel with his jacket as it really makes that figure stand out but i dont know what I would do it were to stain.

However long you think it needs. Black and red have the most dye

I tried the “Oxy 10 Maximum” method, as outlined in the video and had no success. I tried the hair dryer method and direct sunlight method, also with no positive results. I’d also like to note that with direct sunlight, I applied a thick layer of cream and let the leg sit in the sun for 4.5 hours. I did the hair dryer method and reapplied the cream with a q tip every three minutes or so.

I’m not sure what the magic number is, but I’m going to try it over the course of multiple applications a day over a week.

Mattel has us all turning into Jesse Pinkman and Walter White. Maybe they could do the decent thing and make a running change?

How a company thats made plastic dolls and doll clothing for like 100 years could constantly keep staining the toys they produce with the clothing they also produce is frustrating no?
Shouldnt they have figured this out years ago?

Everyone who has gotten the Rude variant on Instagram that I've seen so far has had stains. And I'm sure they all will.I would also like to add that this process can literally take weeks to months. I've heard people say they have done it in days but I don't know how they possibily could.

I’m happy to report I’ve restored my Rude. I used Lacquer thinner (I use this instead of Acetone, because I find it less harsh on plastic), Testors Gloss Coat (clear) spray and a non-textured paper towel. I made sure the paper towel had a good amount of lacquer thinner on it and used my fingertip to vigorously rub the stain away. I then ran the leg (only the thigh to calf portion) until cold water and used hand soap to dilute any remaining chemical on the leg. Then, I used my clamp and sprayed the gloss coat onto the leg (again, just the leg) to remove any “whitening” which appears after using harsh chemicals on plastic. I didn’t see the need to do this process with the arms, so I just swapped them with the pink Rude figure. Also swapped the boots, although the former boots are a half-shade darker than the latter. Hope this helps anyone:
