Hart Foundation 1997 Neidhart FINALLY - And they botched it

So I've wanted a set of 1997 Hart Foundation complete with their jackets since I was 5 years old. I realise that Owen will probably never happen, but until now nobody had even come close to doing all 5 guys in those attires. Mattel did Pillman, Bulldog and Bret early on but even when it came to doing Jim they did an early 90s one.

Que Jim's second elite, and it's got the Hart Foundation jacket, but the attire itself is from his 1994/1995 run as Owen's partner.



1995:


For his return in 1997, he adopted the same skull logo on his singlet that Bret and Owen did. He did BRIEFLY go back to the Anvil logo around May in 97, but he ironically never even wore the jacket when he did.



I know it's probably minor to most people, but as someone who has wanted this figure for quite literally over 22 years it's frustratingly inaccurate. Is there any chance Mattel will correct this, even as a running change like they did with the HOC Warrior's logos?

I wouldn't have noticed this had you not pointed it out. It doesn't deter me from getting it though.
I too want the Foundation but seeing as I couldn't get Pillman or Bulldog when they were released it'll cost me an arm and a leg to complete them.

I'd have been fine with it being either/or. The thing that bugs me is that they probably won't ever go back and tackle the 1997 HF one as it deserves to be tackled.

The way he’ll be posed on my shelves you won’t even see the anvil logo, it will be covered by the jacket and part of Bret’s body. So I have no problem with it. And if it wasn’t blocked I would prefer the anvil on the attire.

I don’t know if botch is the right word. I think they made a 94 Anvil, probably because on its own it’s the more interesting attire, and then out the 97 jacket in there as a nine to collectors. Not saying that’s a “good” decision, but I don’t think it’s a mistake per say. Also, FWIW with the jacket I think it looks fine for 97.

I noticed the same thing upon seeing it. Wish they'd go one route or the other instead of a weird hybrid, or do a chase thing where we got one of each era. I'll probably display it with the jacket off as part of my New Generation collection.

Imo it's perfect - you could got it with two different time periods so there's versatility and I love the head scan

I guess they're going for a 2-in-1. I would love to see them do a Hart Foundation 4 pack (Bret, Bulldog, Neidhart, Pillman). Aside from Pillman they all wore more than enough attires to make it possible without repeating a look.

'Character' is a term overused in the wrestling world but by all accounts Jim was the definition of the word and I love that his head scan shows that, you can just see him doing his manic laugh while stroking his beard with that face sculpt

I’m with you. We got Bret, Pillman, and Bulldog all within close proximity of each other, and then we’ve waited and waited for Anvil. To the point where most of us bought the previous version as a stand-in when that one came out. All while still asking for the 97 version.

Then, to top the whole deal off, it’s a Walmart exclusive. Haha like you can’t make this stuff up. The head is great and I’m happy to have the jacket. Hopefully I can find it.

We’re never getting Owen. So there is always going to be a giant hole for me. No custom is ever going to fill that void in my collection, unfortunately.
