Seeing that they were doing him in mid-90s heel gear was one of the highlights for me of the SDCC panel (almost stopped me bitching about the lack of Retros for an entire two minutes  ), and getting his Hart Foundation jacket is incredibly awesome, but yeah the two eras really shouldn’t be mixed. But if we can’t get a separate ‘97 Hart Foundation Anvil any time soon then I’ll gladly accept it - especially since they did so well with the figure itself; his expression is brilliant. I don’t collect Elites, but as a big Hart mark then this would be one for me to consider if I ever saw it in person... |

Yes it's the first thing I noticed at sdcc. Im not saying it's a bad figure. It's like why not have the figure accurately made or a chase version.that would have been great. Not a dang 2 in 1. It's like that with the goldberg all they did was paint his beard from grey to brown.which now we are getting a new head scan on goldberg. But anvil I been waiting so long to get his 97 attire. And now they got slack with it. I mean how does Mabel get a chase but anvil can't?

It is something to nitpick. they could have made it a chase with 2 attires. that would have solved all problems. |

I don’t know what I’ll do.....
I have anvil already loose and moc. I want this new one but I don’t double up loose on any one character/gimmick and I only buy more than one of any character/gimmick moc or if it’s macho man or sting or somebody else colorful like rick rude or someone like that.
So I don’t want to add anvils but I want this new one so I’ll have to decide to swap the moc or loose fig out depending upon further review

I mean but what’s the solution? Would you rather them be able to throw in the jacket and not? Or give us the less interesting and unique attire he wore in 1997, although I’m pretty sure at some point in 97 he wore this attire I just don’t have anything to go off of other than being sure he wore a few different ones in 1997.

Anvil should have 100% been in the main set as '97 HF with a chase of his '94 look instead.
I'm so happy he comes with the jacket, it's close enough to work for Hart Foundation, but there's no denying it's a hybrid figure so you're not getting the complete figure it could be. That wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't have doubts that they'd ever do a proper '97 HF Anvil someday. I just hope he's packed like The Rock was (and he won't be, let's be real), because I really don't want to pay eBay prices for him.
EDIT: technically speaking, right when Anvil came back, he still had his old look for a match on Shotgun Saturday Night in May. Also fun personal fact, this is the same week I started watching regularly.
So while I still don't count this as a proper HF Anvil, it by the most technical of technical definitions works. He pulls the straps down like a minute into the match, so for ONE MINUTE LONG this figure is accurate! Now you, too, can recreate Jim Neidhart's look vs Marty Garner.

I completely get that a huge, hardcore fan like Thief would have a problem with the figure not being 100% what he was waiting for...but I just cannot get over the feeling that it's a giant nit to pick.
I can remember some obscure wrestling data. I can remember how long a certain match took, the order they came to the ring, its placement on the card, and random crap like that, but some of you guys and your "he didn't wear THAT color top with THAT logo placement in the summer of '83" just blows my mind.
You will never be able to make me believe you're not googling this crapjust to bitch about it later.
It's Anvil, in pink and black, with a great face sculpt, AND an HF jacket thrown in to boot. That's good enough for me. If they dropped a New Foundation Jimbo on us knowing that we'd never get a matching Owen, then yeah, I could see being pissed. But this is pretty much a top shelf Anvil figure.
