The articulation is great! You can rotate the thigh 360, rotate the shin 360 (and the boot), rotate the waist, and the joints are AEW style, plus no pins.
Yes, Ishii should be shorter.
I do love the lack of pins. That should be more commonplace on American toys. What do you mean by "AEW" style? The AEW joints are really great for a cheaper figure. They have a wide range of motion including double jointed elbows and knees. The torso and waist have ball joints for a large amount of realistic movement that doesn't break up the sculpt. The weakness in AEW joints is the minimum range of motion on the hips moving forward and almost no motion moving backwards. What is useful about rotating a shin? I saw that in your pic and it is a bit neat I guess but a human shin cannot do that. The rotation comes from the hip, which is reflected in the thigh cut which is a bare minimum articulation choice. Rotating shins will not help put these guys in natural wrestling poses. Same as a waist rotation, your waist doesn't rotate on a swivel. It looks bad and is a borderline useless joint. I'm glad you enjoy the figures and nothing should take that away from you. I just had a lot of hope that these would turn out better than the promos and they look worse. I could forgive them for being unable to pose if the sculpts and paint were amazing, but they aren't. The jackets look great, but that doesn't matter if the figure itself doesn't look just as great. I am coming into wrestling as a NJPW and AEW fan starting early last year. My toy collecting before this was almost exclusively focused on Japanese import toys that are a similar price to these Super7 figures, so I refuse to accept less than standards that at least seem to be trying to approach those heights for figure technology. As to the Super7 is a small company thing, that also isn't a good excuse. Their Turtles are amazing so they can do good work. They didn't here, just like they didn't for Conan.
You know, when you move the AEW legs and arms it sort of clicks? That.
I think they rotated the shin since the boots don't rotate. It looks odd on Ishii, but the others it's hidden behind their knee pads. The forearm rotation is nice though.

This is the knee swivel. It has your standard knee joint, but with a pin on the end for the shin to rotate 360:
And this is the thigh swivel. Similar to old Marvel Toybiz, but you can't see the ball like you could with those. NOTE, the photo is me rotating it out so you can see it. If you look at the regular shot of Ishii, you can't see it:
When you have time, could you post photos of the championships? I'm not really sure how to feel about the IWGP Heavyweight belt while the other three seems pretty good

Does anyone have the Masahiro Chono Figma figure? I dont own any Figma figures and I was wondering if these happen to scale the same or at least close to that.

Brian Flynn answered my questions regarding the replacement grip hands and the timeline for wave 2.
Hands will be available to all who purchased regardless of where they were purchased from.
Wave 2 is looking like a June release.

I don't like these figures, but there's a lot of answers to your questions.
It's a new line -- so everything needs new tooling. Look at the initial Mattel figures -- they weren't great also. It costs Super 7 SOOO much more to manufacture a figure and pay design costs for such a small run -- that's why the cost is higher even though the quality is not.
And they just don't have experience doing humans. Their Ninja Turtle Playmates recreations are the same price -- and SO much better. I bet the Cardona/Myers Super 7 figures will also be horrible. They shouldn't have jumped into the line if they didn't know they could do it well
I don't disagree with most of your points. But at the end of the day most of the issues you mention, while fair, should be Super 7's problem, not the consumer's. It's their job to find a way to deliver a product that consumers like at their desired price point. And when you operate on a print to order model, that's the risk/reward you run as a company. If the line was a smash hit and they blew by their target sales, it's not like they're doing to partially refund all of the buyers because their cost per unit ended up lower than expected. They take that straight to the bank, and similarly they assume the risk if they deliver a subpar product for the price point. And while it is a small batch product, this line has pretty good distribution for being online-only and initial response indicated pretty strong sales. Again, it's on Super 7 if they underinvested in the product, or misread their audience and skewed the budget too heavily towards accessories than the figures themselves. If you don't have experience designing human figures, hire a designer who does. They sold a product sight unseen, did everything possible to keep info close to the vest until the product was live, and are going to have to deal with whatever comes from here. Judging by the responses, it seems like there may be a lot of cancellations for their other figures in production. The figures are what they are. And for hardcore NJPW fans, I'm sure something is better than nothing. But the initial backlash can't be a great indicator for Super 7 if they want to continue to branch into wrestling.
I agree w/ all this. That's why I said they shouldn't have made them if they couldn't do it right. But some of the new pictures do look better

Mine come in on Monday, I can't wait to get them in hand. I also look forward to Series 2. I am just happy to get some NJPW figures, with Championships. I have a feeling these figures will be bashed over and over. Then in a few years time, they will be very sought after. If we get a Series 3, I hope we get maybe a Juice or more so a Jay White with the US Championship.

Have an Okada coming from Ringside today. Have a set of 4 and an extra Ishii coming from Super 7. Series 2 looks better in the protos, was never really sold on series 1 Ospreay and Tanahashi always seemed off from the beginning up until final products. Okada was the best of them anyway. Super 7 is in a learning curve so I can give them slightly the benefit of the doubt a bit

I did a full review on the set! Just a heads up be careful with the belts! I broke my Tanahashi Ic belt. They painted it white and it feels very brittle.

I’m in the same camp in that when I saw the first pics I was in shock and almost cancelled my order. But after seeing more and more pics they look better, I hoped for more and expected them to look better than they do but I think they still look good enough. There’s a lot of complaints about the price but that’s because it’s a made to order niche product. Mattel prices are lower because they are made at a much larger scale and have less accessories, with more production they can charge less. With all the complaints about scale (far from perfect) makes me think those people wouldn’t survive the jakks years 😂
I’m excited for mine to arrive, overall I wish they were better but I’m just happy to have solid figures of NJPW wrestlers, and hope the line continues so we can see the likes of Jay White and Kota Ibushi

I am very, very happy. What a roller-coaster of a week, lol. Are they perfect? No. Skin tones and scale are a little off. But they're a lot of fun and for something I've been wanting for like a decade I'm satisfied.

Here's another angle with alternate lighting - Def not perfect but nice to finally have options for high quality IWGP belts available. To bad they're anchored to $50 subpar figures...
