Ready To Rumble and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation Incredibly harsh. But again to each their own.....

I love Ready to Rumble. I legitimately think it's an amazing comedy movie haha.
I can't say I like the prequels too much but I've seen at least a thousand way worse movies.

Everyone that's excited for the new movie, but hates the prequels.. Should be aware that without the prequels, we wouldn't get a new movie that continues the story of Luke, Han, and Leia..
Star Wars is a franchise that lived on nostalgia for almost 20 years after 'RotJ'.. And the franchise was all but dead until Episode 1. So like 'em or not, they were necessary.

But for someone like me, the prequels are the reason I'm a Star Wars fan. George Lucas wanted to usher in a new generation of fans, and he did just that.. Before Episode I, I didn't give a good goddamn about Star Wars. But because of Episodes I, II, and III, I am forever a fan.

I think nostalgia goggles are about 90% of the reason why they're hated. All these kids who grew up with the originals came up with these scenarios about what happened before the OT, and I guess in their minds, Lucas didn't measure up to it. Frankly, I like all the Star Wars films about the same (2 and 3 are my least favorites though). I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I like them. Qui Gonn is my favorite Star Wars character, and the end fight scene in PM is IMO, the best SW scene. I always found it weird that people hated the Ewoks too, I think they're one of the best things about SW lol.

The prequels are a punchline. If not for them, we might have gotten proper sequels by now.

If Lucas would have just laid off all of the cgi in the prequels, they would have been fine. If he leans more on real set pieces and authentic prosthetics and makeup, the prequels would have been so much more widely accepted. JJ has already gone that extra mile for fans. He's already gone back to those original concepts and locations, and the film apparently features nearly 80% practical effects. That's what's up.
More Spoiler Man spoilers are out. All I'm saying is BOOM! We're seemingly getting way more EU elements than they are willing to admit at this stage of the game. Hopefully that turns out to be true because it seems like I'm about to get what I'm asking for in that regard. If those rumors are true, then I called it on a lot of that stuff so far. The only thing I really haven't been able to figure out is the Max Von Sydow stuff but it's apparently not going to be a big deal. I'm thinking possibly Dengar but I guess we'll see.

Let's try to keep it spoiler free though.. I'm still kicking myself for reading Spoiler Man's stuff yesterday.
Who started this thread? Can we make it the official Star Wars thread? We don't have one of those, I feel like we could use one of those..

I was sold the second I saw John Boyega scared and in a storm trooper suit. I am excited for this movie.

I'm trying to avoid any trailers or spoilers so I can go watch it with a clear conscience. The only things I've seen so far is a picture of a bearded Mark Hamill, the new lightsaber, and an artoo head on a rolling ball.
I will offer a bet. And this is what pissed me off about the entire Star Wars & Raiders of the Lost Ark series. If this movie DOESN'T have the Wilhelm scream in it anywhere, I will give (absolutely free) a Black Series Prototype Boba Fett figure to one person who messages me first after seeing the film when it comes out in theaters. If this movie DOES have the scream in it, then all I ask is you do something nice for an animal shelter. The Wilhelm Scream:

We don't have one of those, I feel like we could use one of those.. I'm honestly going to forget most of this by a year from now anyway. I've kind of read what I wanted to at this point, which is just the barebones plot and who is who in the film, character-wise, and now I'm good to go. Spoiler Man has really only revealed one thing that I thought was a pivotal twist for the third act of the movie, which I had already put together. I'm not the "I want to read the script" type but I do admire people for not wanting to know anything, and who can stay away. My buddy and I just talked about this yesterday at work because he's taking the "don't tell me anything" approach for TFA.

I grew up with VHS tapes of Star Wars, saw the Special Editions in theaters ( hated the changes) and saw Episode 1 in theaters. The opening was exciting, then..... Nothing. I felt nothing. All 3 movies did nothing for me. Technology was greater in the past than future? Ok George. Jar Jar??? Stupid. Trilogy long love angle with Padme ( teen) and Anikin ( 12yra old).,.. Thats rape. in space rape. Stand out moments of Episode 1-3: Darth Maul Tusken Raider slayings Clone War ( the technology was TOO much) George wanted to blow money and speed through film making. We have a 12 year okd slave who built 3P0 and lnew R2 yet nothing was mentioned in the OT??? They were never reprogrammed... Makes no sence. Clone Wars Animated - Epic Rebels- great Episode 4-6 - EPIC Episode 1-3 - dog shit

Clone Wars Animated - Epic Rebels- great Episode 4-6 - EPIC Episode 1-3 - dog crap You're kinda proving my theory to be true. I always thought that they were more advanced in 1-3 because of Vader/Sideous taking over, they were basically dictators that drove the galaxy into being like a 3rd world country over here. Jar Jar never bothered me, he was only a side character. Padme was only like 4 years older than Anakin, if that. By the time EP2 rolled around and they acted on anything, Anakin was older than 18, so no rape there. That is a problem when they do sequels, but those sort of things can be explained by Vader's mental condition after EP3. Why's he going to care about a couple insignificant robots? That's something I've never understood either. How can people like these Clone Wars shows and hate the AOTC film?

I don't think the Clone Wars show is anything special, though I don't see what liking that has to do with hating the prequels.
The original Clone Wars animated shorts from right before Ep.3 were awesome, though. Probably my favorite Star Wars related material.

So in what world does a girl fall in love with a boy they would loon at as literally their little brother? No girl ever. Thats weird. I have tried to look at Star Wars as Star Wars. I have sat down and re watched Epidose 1-3 and just acted like a fan. Its difficult. Things get going good, the its ruined by something over the top. Yoda flipping around, 3PO's head ending uo on a Battle Droids body, the Jedi Battle Royal and none of them felt the end coming? The force being turned into mediclorean. Jango Fett's death was great! His son holding the head for revenge was awesome. Grevious aas too much. Lets have a Saber Duel, how can we make it feel epic? Well we hade a double blade in 1, lets do a quad blade! No, that, we need one guy with 6 arms and 6 Sabers, whos all machine other than a human heart... WTF??? Its like every time something catches my attentions its erased by a joke. If it isn't the grade school CGI graphics that make TellTale Games look like a Next Gen Console graphics, then its uneeded story archs or cut scenes. Did Ani need to fall off a animal to fake injury for a kiss from Padme? No, we did 't need that. The politics was great, but the 3 movies were Politics, Love , War. It didn't flow like that with the Originals.

I'm not gonna harp too hard on you for not being down with the Anakin/Padme connection, 'cause as far as love stories go, that was probably one of the most wooden, trite, contrived, and poorly acted love stories on record. Gotta stick with what's out there, though. Even if they didn't look it, I think Anakin and Padme are supposed to be 9 and 13, respectively, in TPM. That's only a four year difference, and really, there weren't any real "sparks" (if you could even call HC's wooden acting indicative of that) until AotC. Trust me, I'm on your side as far as the whole Padakin connection being wholly unbelievable, but their ages weren't quite the reason.
