Anyone got any tips for someone completely new to weight lifting? Lift with your knees, not your back. Don't jump right in at a super high weight. Start at one you're comfortable with until it becomes easy, then move up, and so on, and so on. Talk to other people in the gym about the correct form. If you don't know how to do the lift properly, you risk injuring yourself. If you're gonna bench, it's best to have somebody else above you to watch and lift the weight back up in case you drop it on your chest.

Anyone got any tips for someone completely new to weight lifting? Form is important. Focus on learning how to lift properly. Bodybuilding.com has videos on about any lift you can think of.

The NFL draft has me thinking about the combine. Anyone here interested in a combine type (all in fun) competition? I was thinking about seeing how many reps at 225 I could hit today and seeing how much I could improve by the start of the NFL season. Anyone else think this could be fun

They seriously have that there? I've always heard people trash Planet Fitness but I didn't know about that.

I've always heard people trash Planet Fitness but I didn't know about that. yeah. not only that, but unlimited 'free' tootsie rolls. and a 'lunk button' that the staff will press when there is someone that is acting in a way that could intimidate others in the gym. it's a gym for insecure people that don't want to recognize what they need to work on.

Participated in my first ever running event today. Finished the Sunderland City 10Km event with a time of exactly 45mins, finishing 171st out of 1809 runners. Personal best time for that distance and really enjoyed the experience.

Got back in the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks today. I've been super busy for a while so I didn't have much time, but I got a decent bicep and forearm workout in. If I can find the time I'll go back in tomorrow. About to eat dinner. Probably just gonna have a steak and some light salad.

I went to lift weights yesterday. I ate only chinese carry out yesterday and today only ate KFC. I really need to cut out the fast food. It was my first time lifting and not doing bench press yet. Im super sore.. Eating only once a day is probably the worst thing you're doing. You're grinding your metabolism to a halt. Remember, when you "diet", your body doesn't know what you're trying to do. It views any kind of fasting or undereating as starvation. So in turn, your body will hang onto your fat for dear life. That's why any diet you see will involve eating multiple small meals a day. The key is to trick your body into thinking your not starving but still eating less so you lose weight. If you're struggling with weight loss... I strongly recommend a ketogenic diet. That great about ketogenesis, besides its overwhelming effectiveness, is that you don't really get hungry. Your body turns into a fat-burning furnace. You can even purchase urinalysis strips to monitor your ketone levels (byproduct of fat metabolism) so you can actually visualize the fat burning effect. Throw in exercising on top of that and you can become a new man. Regardless, you should probably talk to a physician or some kind of professional before you undertake a major diet change. If your town has a Metabolic Research Center, they are great for weight loss. They'll try to sell you hard on their products though. They're pricey, and they do work, but you can get all that stuff for half price at a grocery store. Regardless of what you do, you can be successful if you want it badly enough. Good luck.
