Wow...the more that leaks out about The Rocks interference & vetoing of stuff in Black Adam & Shazam 2 the more the Rock appears to be a complete dickhead during all this.
The power & interference he wielded would never have been tolerated by Feige. Gunn can say WB will keep their nose out all he wants but I'll believe it when I see it.

I found the Cavill Superman pretty overrated so I’m interested to see how this goes

You know you aren’t wrong that his behavior was dickish. It’s just a weird story. It basically sounds like Black Adam was his favorite superhero growing up, and he worked for years to get to a spot in Hollywood to make it a property. His goal was to get Black Adam on the level of Superman, Batman etc. He wanted to do what Chadwick did for Black Panther. So he got into a position where he got to make decisions for the character. (Which seems like a stupid power to give an actor over) He sees Shazam as a lesser tier superhero, and depends on if you believe the rumors of him also disliking Zachary Levi on his anti vax stance. But anyway, he certainly handled the decisions poorly, and in the end if a movie is good it’s good, fans don’t care about Black Adam interacting with lesser heroes.

He's also talking through his a$$ over Black Adam being his favorite hero as a kid. He's talking about "being attracted to the characters strong ethics from a young age. Adam was a 100% villain when Dwayne was a kid...the entire thing is just mental 😳 🤣🤣🤣

I don’t think I’ve been this “meh” about a movie before. I’m going to see it but everything I’ve seen so far doesn’t make me uninterested or interested. I grew up with Keaton Batman but don’t have nostalgia for him as I always thought his villains were the best parts of his movies. I like Michael Shannon but don’t care about his Zod. Kind of just going in with a “kill a few hours” type feel which might end up making me enjoy it more.

There are some stories that have been floating around about Johnson in Hollywood the past couple of years that have been flying under from what I've been hearing from friends out there. I'm interested to see how his career plays out from here because he seems to have worn his welcome out at a lot of places. Studios are getting fed up with his demands. He always works a Producer credit onto all of his films from 2017 forward, which I think it going to stop soon.
But anyways, I was thinking today about this new movie with The Flash, and I'm not a big fan of him in the comics. But it got me to thinking about how Keaton is coming back for it and Cage is doing a cameo as Superman. I wonder if Warner would ever reach out to Will Reeve to be a stand in for his dad so that Christopher could do a cameo as Superman some day. I know some people are against that kind of thing so maybe they won't.

It'd be cool if we are gonna talk about potential spoilers, to have spoiler tags.

He's coming back to the FF franchise, going to star in Red One with Chris Evans, and is heavily rumored to be appearing in Deadpool 3. Despite being used as a scape goat by WB, Johnson is doing fine. The only thing that sucks is that while Black Adam wasn’t anything special, it wasn’t terrible either. But because it wasn’t a billion dollar hit, now we have to see Gunn force his writing into all of DC’s future projects. His writing and tone may work for lower-tier characters like the Guardians and SS, but it won’t necessarily work for A-list characters like Superman and Batman. We have a few years to see how his Superman film goes but I’m gonna keep my expectations in check and hope that we don’t get fart jokes between Clark and Jimmy Olson.

Come back to do a spin off because he doesn't get along with a star and from what was going around he (Johnson) was trying to take that franchise and focus it on him. Netflix execs aren't exactly happy with what they have seen. It's a cameo as himself. Even Levi confirmed some of the stuff that was happening at DC, so not a scape goat. Is he going to keep getting film roles? Of course. Is he going to continue to try to get studios and franchises to bend to his demands as he attempts to take them over? No, that is over. Again he will always get roles to star in movies because the backers will always see him as a star.

He’s upset Johnson wanted to build his character with an A-list hero like Superman rather than his C-list character. Not Johnson’s fault WB bumbled the DCEU for 10 years. He tried giving it direction when WB execs were a mess. He was used as a scape goat to deflect from WB’s ineptness (which continued by allowing Gunn to announce the DCEU is dead despite 3 movies still to be released).

Who is he going to play? But lately -Black Adam flopped -The XFL lost $60 million -He had to go crawling back to Fast and the Furious after saying he never wants to work with Vin Diesel again -Young Rock got cancelled The Rock might be getting a call soon asking if he would job to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania.

Superhero fatigue is a real thing. - XFL is a new venture under his ownership. It got screwed over with covid. It’s normal for new ventures to loose money in the early years, but most people buy into a headline without reading into the details. - F10 flopped hard. Diesel is likely on his knees thanking Rocky for coming back. People acting like Rock’s career is on a severe downswing, or even over are kidding themselves. Every actor goes through lull periods. Rock’s is likely for a year before he starts churning out the movies I listed previously.

Saw The Flash. 7/10. No spoilers here.I enjoyed it overall but the CGI was rough and the third act falls apart due to all the reshoots. Affleck was great in his 5 minutes or so, and Keaton stole the show. Just lame this is how Gunn is effectively ending the DCEU.

Saw Flash last night at the IMAX. I share the 7/10 sentiment. I feel like the only time the movie was uninterruptedly great was the very beginning. Absolutely loved seeing Batfleck in the blue. I think the pre opinion leading into this movie was largely "I'm going for Keaton" and that's exactly the part that's worth the money. I got goosebumps multiple times. The cave reveal. The underground base fight scene. The Batwing. Keaton was 100% worth my price of admission.
The CGI is so bad. I saw the director said he wanted it to be that way on purpose. Distorted so that you saw the film through Barry's eyes. Man... what a horrible decision if true. It looked Scorpion King bad in a lot of places. The film also had no climax. They went right to the Dark Flash reveal but it feels like there is a big chunk missing from the story.
For me, Young Barry was the absolute worst part of the film. They wrote him like he was 13 instead of 18, and I just didn't like it. I lost count of how many times "sh*t" was used in the dialogue. It all felt really lazy. I felt you could discern the two characters without having to make one of them a moron. In fact, I think the path he takes at the end of the film is more easily explainable if you make him more mature. It almost doesn't make sense that he's grown up enough to be scared by what present timeline Barry is telling him.
I also really hated the cameo close to the film. If you use the guy everyone liked, that's a perfect scene. Because they didn't, it fell flat on its face for me. A really underwhelming close to both the film and that universe. Although, I don't believe it's the close to that universe. Gunn is going to continue to be half-in, half-out with this group imo.
Overall, entertaining popcorn flick. But I think it had the potential to be a top 3 DC film and it doesn't get close to that mark for me. It was amazing to see Keaton back, and even cooler it was a shared universe with Affleck, but that's the takeaway for me. I will say I liked Supergirl quite a bit, especially how they tied her to Zod, but there simply wasn't enough of her. So yeah, fun night at the movies, but fell short of what Flashpoint could be imo.

Just back from Flash. like others it falls just far from brilliance to me. Miles better than Black Adam IMHO But I agree with the above...It feels like there's a chunk missing.

The multiple reshoots hurt the third act of this movie. Based on reports during filing they shot atleast 3 different endings before settling with what we got. The last cameo at the end got a laugh out of my theater, but knowing that this is basically the swan song for these characters (Gunn will reboot everything post Aquaman 2), it just left a sour taste in my mouth.
Why we couldn’t just get a decent ending for the Snyderverse where Barry fixes everything and the JL in this universe goes on as normal, beats me. Wouldn’t have had any effect on Gunn’s movies.

Seent the flash earlier today. I still don't know what to think. I absolutely loathe that ending. I loved the cameo. But hated the ending because it made no sense to have whoever there at the end with Ezra.
