Not necessarily picking a side but I've just been thinking DC is starting to build their own little universe with their shows and upcoming movies.
Arrow The Flash Gotham Superman vs Batman Justice League "Nine" unannounced DC movies in development
They're really starting to build their universe, so thought they should have their own thread.
-----This weekend The Wall Street Journal dropped a bombshell on us when they revealed that director Zack Snyder would be stepping behind the camera for the long-rumored Justice League movie, which will follow the upcoming Batman vs. Superman. Now, in a piece on Warner Bros.' attempts to cash in on their DC properties, the outlet reports that the company has nine additional films based on DC comics in development for the big screen.
Among those titles are the big screen adaptations of Sandman with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Fables with A Royal Affair director Nikolaj Arcel attached. What the remaining titles could be remains to be seen. Wonder Woman? Aquaman? Another attempt at Green Lantern? It seems unlikely, but perhaps the studio will announce something at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. What DC comics do you want to see on the big screen?-------
Let's get this thread going

There is a Flash movie in development with Craig Berlanti attached to write/direct.....Variety reported on this as late as December of 2013.
This is something I REALLY want to see happen. I'm also kinda dismayed that DC/WB have no plans to tie their TV series to movies.....and we will have 2 Flash's shortly. Its like last decade when they wanted to do an Aquaman series after the good reaction to that Smallville episode.....then cast a different dude and insisted there be no connection to Smallville. I guess their tactics towards their properties kinda confuses me.
also about "picking sides"....I'm a 50/50 Marvel/DC guy and always have been. In some corners of the interent you don't seem to be allowed to like both.....which blows. But I will contribute to this thread(which was a great call BTW)as much as I have the Marvel thread.
Here's hoping the news picks up from here on out.

I've made a home in the Arrow thread and I'm reluctant to move out. But I'm open minded.
So, Ben Affleck, eh!?

I'm a huge fan of DC's properties but I don't agree with your statement that they're 'really starting to build their universe'.
They've been stop/starting for years. As of now we have Superman and that is it, until I see Batman vs. Superman, then we're getting somewhere. DC have dropped the ball, they have the chance to assemble their own universe years ago and they didn't.
That being said, I'm really excited to see what DC/Warner are going to do in the near future and I hold a lot of hope for Snyder and his 'vision' of the DC world.

I hold huge hope too.....but the fact remains that Marvel has nailed the formula. DC had the chance to do this properly for 30+ years and now they are shitting the bed so it doesn't look like they copied Marvel/Disney.
who gives a f*ck if they copy the formula if JL makes a Billion @ the WW Box office?
I also still despise the casting of Gal Gadot.

I also agree with you on Gal Gadot, while I'm not familiar with her as an actress, I would have hoped that Warner would have gone for a more established actress. Seems like they need it.

I still think Gina Carano could have been a great WW...but I dig Gal.
I have no idea at all who the guy playing Cyborg is, but they got the look right, at least.
DC properties edge Marvel for me -- but the MCU has been a godsend.
I'm hoping to see WW, Aquaman (with me Directing, of course) and a GL reboot in the next 10 years.
Also hope they change their mind on tying in the TV shows, and just go with that Arrow/Flash combo, as we've talked about in another thread Joker.
The Rock has been mentioned with Shazam for YEARS -- would be cool to finally see that.
Would dig a Nightwing movie, too. Part of my pitch, if I get to sit down with WB will be to establish themselves in part of the market that Marvel hasn't yet. Use your lesser characters to do Direct-to-DVD Titles. Nightwing would be a good starting point. $10 Million budget, few name actors in there, up and coming Directors (a great way to give said up and comers a chance to get their names out there)...
And it allows you to release superhero movies without worrying if people will get burnt out on them. People can buy at their leisure without feeling that sense of urgency that comes with wide theatrical releases. Plus you can still make your toys, video games, etc...based on the properties.

I'm a huge DC fan and I think they are better than Marvel in every aspect aside from movies. I love Arrow, am interested in anything to do with the Flash since he's up there with my favorite heroes, and am very interested in what these other unnanounced movies could be.
Oh, I guess I'm not too interested in Gotham but then I've never been big on most Batman related things anyway.

Can't really call it a "universe" and include the TV shows with the movies, considering they're not interwoven. That said, bring on Batfleck and let's do this mother in' thing.

Yeah, people said this about Heath Ledger, who knows? They did indeed. One of the reasons I DIDNT sh*t on Ledgers casting was because I KNEW the guy could act. Gadot has shown me nothing nowhere that makes me think she will be a good WW. But like I say.....I will "hate no more" until I see her in action.

If they're introducing characters for the JL movie, bring in Green Lantern or somebody. I can't wait to see how WW is written into this thing.

I wish DC nothing but success.. But if Man of Steel is their starting line, and Man of Steel 2 is 50% Batman with hints of the Justice League throughout the movie.. Then the 3rd movie being the Justice League.. I think they're doing it wrong.. Nothing about this seems planned, it all seems rushed.. They're rushing to catch the superhero fire that has caught on at the box office.
It screams desperation. And that's why I dislike what's going on.. I really wanted to like Man of Steel.. I just thought it was terrible. Hell, I bought it on Blu Ray so I could maybe find something I like in it.. I found nothing.
I don't think Warner Bros has a dog in this fight.
Let's be honest here.. Batman can be done right. Wonder Women can be done right. Aquaman and Flash, can be done right. Green Lanter can be done right.
Whoever approves the scripts should lose their job.

It kills me that they have people paid huge money to up superhero franchises while people like Paul Dini are making children's cartoons. Can you imagine if the Batman reign was given to people like Paul Dini, Grant Morrison or Alan Moore?

I doubt Alan Moore would ever be involved in making a superhero movie, but point taken.
If it was me in charge, I'd give Timm/Dini whatever they wanted to help me make a DC connected universe work.
