I will embrace it if I'm wrong, but I'm positive Jakks has never shown anything TNA at any SDCC. oh they have....they just never actually released any of those figures Those were just big FUs to us fans. I wonder if any of those test shots got sold on ebay? I know Steiner was a few months ago, and some guys made it to RA scale, but never saw any of those unreleased DIs.

First Backlund, now Chyna?
Just seems like funerals are places that folks like to blow stuff way out of proportion to make headlines.

Everyone on this site turn into that MVP fan from a couple of years ago? Seriously all the bitching and sucking the fun out of threads is a real drag. Bayley will never make it to WWE main division. Ryback is over but sucks in the ring. Cenas broken nose was the best thing to happen is his career. New Day is GOAT. Paige isn't bad.. You guys are bitching about a fake show but you guys have ruined the fun of this site for me so I'm leaving. Which is just you projecting what you're doing. Anywhoo, bye!

Maybe he'll be the next Sandow, portraying a different gimmick every week... (oh please God no!) That's exactly what I was thinking. This is so out of nowhere, that it could be a light-hearted gimmick. If it's serious, I'll bet it was Maddox' idea and he thought of it a while ago. Because they were just going to do the new Beef Mode team, and usually things are given a chance before they change it up. This is what a week? This new gimmick must have been tossed around for a while.

It's still not even remotely the same. As I said, the closest we got were the Treacherous Trios HBK's, but even then he had missing details and the wrong pants...

I was also thinking the same thing about Orton's gear. I don't recall him wearing that attire. His 2002 attire was blue shorts with the yellow design. The closest I've seen is this: View AttachmentRegarding Cena, did they ever release an orange/purple variant as seen in the prototype? Red & blue, no they didn't release that actual scheme. Baffled me at the time. It was like when they showed Lance Storm's first WWF figure in red designs, yet he came out in yellow instead. Lol I didn't even know who Cena was or how to pronounce his name but that didn't stop me from buying him all those years ago.

Here's to another 5 years! Seriously, great discussion thread Chicago and guys. It reinvigorated my love for these figures.
The pictures shared here are much appreciated.

Shane was a mark for ECW. From the stories I heard, he would stay up late and watch it. He loved it. I think if Shane bought it, it would have remained the same. Shane wouldn't have changed a thing. He wanted the new ECW in 2006 to be like the original, but Stephanie said "no" and for some reason Stephanie always had more power than Shane when it came to Vince. That's a damn shame. Think of all the great talent that would have surely come out of ECW. Heyman said it would have probably been what ROH has been since its inception. The hardcore style would have phased out, but the legacy would have lived on. Imagine ECW Punk, Danielson, Samoa Joe... It would have definitely been more popular than ROH just on name basis alone. Shane liked realistic MMA style wrestling as well. He had a unique view on wrestling being with the times, and I like the fact he was a visionary. Would his Hardcore/MMA take have worked? Maybe not, but it could have been interesting. Steph is just Vince 2.0 as far as I'm concerned. Nothing ever changes, those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. Thank God Triple H gets it, otherwise if it were just Stephanie I'd be willing to bet the WWE would be in a much worse shape.

You guys have all got it spot on.
I feel the poor quality of today's programming is 3-fold:
1. The writers aren't wrestling fans, and don't book consistently. The storylines are pathetic, and they hope we forget past rivalries/stories as easily as they do. These dumbasses are "Hollywood/Soap Opera writer" rejects. It's Vince and Kevin Dunn's faults as far as I'm concerned. There needs to be a consortium of fans, like a roundtable, where they can bounce ideas off of each other and cater to REAL WRESTLING fans.
2. The short attention span of the audience. I feel the constant hot-shotting of the 90s has bred the most ADD fans ever. And as a result it continued on from then until now. Where storylines finish after 1 or 2 months, with little significance. Even matches have suffered. The constant need for "upping the ante" each time has caused a boredom because there's only so far to go. Back to basics approach is needed.
3. The wrestlers themselves are lacking charisma. Sure some are entertaining, but can't connect with the fans like the 80s and 90s guys did. They need to learn how to talk, improvise and look unique. Some get it - just look at Sasha Banks. She's got it down to a tee. When guys are allowed to be themselves, and not follow a script but instead write their own promos, or get taught how to do it better, is what is needed.
I'd love to get hired to give some input to this company.
Just my 2 cents.

The WWE needs to pick some rap star that nobody has ever heard of before to play at Wrestlemania 32. That's what WWE does now. They did it his year at Mania, they did it on Raw recently. It's more like:

GI Bro was a gimmick Booker had used before WCW IIRC. Luckily it was short-lived, because in early 2000 I became a fan of Booker T, so when he lost the "T" and just became Booker - I was so p'd off, but then he became GI Bro? When Booker T was red hot for the past 2 years? Well played WCW, well played. Also IIRC, he became Booker T again with no real explanation or on screen reason? I was glad for him when he found his groove again and became WCW Heavyweight champ. I could be misremembering, but I think I heard/read at some point that it was Booker who went to Bischoff or Russo and suggested bringing the gimmick back. I do recall when he dropped the gimmick, no explanation given, by ripping off a pair of camo pants in the ring. He had on a pair of white tights, and for a brief moment, I thought he was standing there in his underwear. I spose I could see Booker doing that, he came up with the gimmick before Harlem Heat I think, and he wasn't doing much after the feud over the rights to the "T" in his name. So stupid. Booker was being booked as the WCW's Rock back in late 2000. Not as good, but he was the best part of WCW back then in my opinion. Never forget The Goon and him slipping on the icing (of Shawn Micheals birthday cake) on raw. When I saw it I laughed for a couple minutes late at night I almost woke up my baby. Vince's & Lawlers commentary when he slips is priceless Who's that you're talking about?

Didn't that come down to like, the Chicago Cubs bitching about what looked very much like their logo being used in the figure? I am probably very, very wrong but I could have sworn the Cubbies got pissed about something Punk related with Jakks. That was part of the reason, but looking at the rest of the last waves, they were just trying and hoping for reasons to cheap out on paint. Take a look at Matt Hardy from the same time period: Remember the time Matt wore flat black tights with plain silver logos? Jakks nailed that look!

You guys are all going to feel stupid when we all realise this is just the genesis of Hogan's second heel turn. (Because the NWO 2002 doesn't count)
This is the start of the Bigot World Order.

The closest we got to that figure was a HBK from 2 Treacherous Trios sets: But again, he was missing details such as the silver studs on the Xs and the fact he was in the stupid tracksuit mold, instead of the accurate pants mold. That would have been perfect! It even had a belt! Seriously don't get why Jakks did that to this, and every subsequent HBK figure. This also reminds me of another similar story: I was really looking forward to getting this set, because I wanted a new, more accurate RA Undertaker, and Edge was in a really cool attire. And instead we got this gem: I got it for Xmas that year and was thoroughly disappointed. So instead of a brand new headscan for Undertaker (which was never ever seen again), we got the same old tired one. His boots were supposed to be tall laced, but he came with the usual inaccurate tall kickers. His tights logos were supposed to be golden, but were flat orange. Now Edge was the worst. Not only did the stupid slappy hand instead of the fist annoy me, his attire was vastly different. He had no black/grey/white camo on his tights! BS from Jakks. Also, the logos on his boots were tiny, and the logos on the side of his tights were red, and not the white like on the crotch. And finally he should have had a red stripe going down the back of the boots, but nope.

For the love of God, DO NOT TURN THIS THREAD INTO A STORM. What does any of that even mean? Quotes like, "22nd track"?, whats the 10 million dollar deal Brooke messed up?, who did Brooke meet in Miami?, who are the Saudis? what does "she flipped a bird at me" mean? lol...this was like trying to solve the Di Vinci code. Someone clear up what this is about. Im suprised Im the only one to bring this up. People read this and dont even question what it means. The problem with the world is "communication break down" and no one ever asks for explanations. - 22nd track on the album she was making - $10 million dollar deal for the album she was making, funded by those Saudis or the guys Hogan called the N word - Flipping the bird means sticking the middle finger to someone Upon first read of this new information, I could tell he was not talking about Jamie Foxx in that regard. But the media will love to make this more mainstream just so they can get more money, so of course they have said Hogan called Jamie the N word. Which isn't true. These websites are seriously walking the line of libel with this crap.

RA 25 Shawn Michaels royally p'd me off. I was so looking forward to this: Which then became this: Safe to say I passed, but hated that he wasn't made like that. I never did like when they changed all HBK's to the non-accurate tracksuit leg mold. So we never got him in the correct pants mold like in the first photo. A lot of things went on like this. Half painting figures was a staple of figures being released in 2004. Christian in normal clothes had no pattern on his back, Billy Gunn (his only ever RA) had no lips on his shorts on the back, Ultimo Dragon had no dragon skin effect on the back of his tights... Even Trevor Murdoch released in Arenaline 21(?) had a plaid shirt, that was left plain white on the back. That was in 2006, so they still did it every now and then.
