- Another Heel v Heel encounter is gonna confuse the crowd. You need to get a strong face into the picture. - Swagger as new champion is good. He's been built up well, so I'm glad you are giving him the strap. - I expect Shelton with move up to another brand now. - Good that the fight is matched between Kendrick and London. - Expected a big bump from London, shame that it didn't work out. - Good heel victory for The Brian Kendrick. Establishes him as a top heel.

Nice ECW title match, six months is a great reign for Benjamin I see him using his rematch, losing, then moving brands, not sure about the ending pretty anti climatic if you ask me to have Shelton kick out then get pinned right away after but that might just be me, love Swagger winning though should be a awesome reign, strange stips for the cage match I don't see London losing though, wow emotional ending to the cage match, I can see London going for the SSP, it would be cool for London to go slightly depressed about all this and not use highflying moves for a while, awesome write up kept me hooked well, I know whatever you do with either man it sould be great, Wouldnt mind if the TV title went, only 4 reigns feels like more, good that neither men are going to be missing time from the Cage, expected a little update on how the stips will effect London or something or where his character is going but I guess it will be explained on the next ECW, could you reply to ROH, thanks and good luck.

-I liked the ECW Championship match although I felt like it should have gone on later, especially after the other ECW match. Still though, Swagger over Benjamin is good stuff, can't wait to see his reign at the top -The Cage match was excellent and the SSP off the cage was a sick spot. Kendrick winning is interesting, and I wonder where this will go -I thought it would have been more ECW Champions since WrestleMania 23, but since it's only been four, that means we've seen some dominant, lengthy reigns, which I like
Great stuff as usual, can't wait for more.

I am surprised the cage match is going on the air after the ECW Championship match. I love that Jack Swagger is the ECW Champion and I feel he can do wonders with the belt. I was shocked that Brian Kendrick won the match, but I love it. I wonder what will happen to Paul London now.

Swagger winning the ECW Championship is good, Shelton has had a long enough run IMO. Epic match with London/Kendrick, huge spot for London to miss, just think he should of been down the whole time when Kendrick got out, but either way it worked.

ECW.Com PreviewAt No Mercy, “The All-American American” Jack Swagger won the ECW Championship, tasting gold for the first time in his young career. How will the cocky superstar celebrate? On the losing side of the ECW Championship match was “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin. After finally dropping the gold after having it for six months, what will happen next? In a “life on the line” steel cage match, The Brian Kendrick was unfortunately victorious over Paul London. Because of this, London’s life could take a turn for the worse. What will happen to him now that he cannot use the Shooting Star Press, his salary is decreased, and Layla must leave ECW? Tune in this Tuesday on Sci-Fi at 9 PM EST to see all of this unfold!

Wow, I can't believe that it was at last years No Mercy CM Punk lost the match which killed ECW. It's already been stated before, but you need to make it clear who is the face and who is the heel in this feud. At the moment it seems like Shelton is a tweener, but I'm not positive on that. Swagger winning the ECW Title is good. Don't have him lose it quickly. Shocked to see Kendrick win since that is the third time he's beaten Paul London. Not a fan of London not getting any momentum in that feud at all.

- Decent ECW Championship match. Benjamin didn’t lose to much steam considering it took two power bombs to get the job done. - Fantastic cage match with London/Kendrick. You captured the emotion of the ending extremely well. Surprised Kendrick won, but I actually think that was a great decision. This feud is far from over and I like that. - Great Job.

(October 7th, 2008) ECW on Sci-Fi started out with Michelle McCool standing in the ring. She said that it is an honor to introduce the NEW ECW Champion, “The All-American American”, Jack Swagger! Balloons starting falling from the ceiling as Swagger came out to the ring, all smiles. McCool hyped up Swagger, but then Swagger took the microphone himself. He said that he has dominated competition since coming over to ECW, and that will continue to be the case. Swagger proclaimed that nobody will be able to stop him, and take the belt from him. He says that we aren’t in the Alpha Male Era, or the Punk Era, or The Gold Standard Era. Now, we are in the era of “The All-American American”. “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin barged into Eric Bischoff’s office backstage. Shelton said that he wanted a rematch at his ECW Championship, and wanted it tonight. Bischoff said to calm down, and unlike other shows, losing the title does not automatically deem you to be the #1 contender. Bischoff said Shelton deserves a chance to get another title shot, as do two other men. He told Shelton that tonight, in a #1 Contender’s match, it would be Shelton Benjamin taking on Television Champion, Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio in a triple threat match! The crowd was happy, but Shelton wasn’t too thrilled. Tommy Dreamer vs. Zack Ryder w/Ashley, Joy Giovanni, & Rebecca DiPietroThis has been in the making for a few weeks, especially last week after Ryder spent several minutes mocking Dreamer. The match was pretty good, with the usual spots hit. Dreamer was getting in some offense, and Ryder went to the outside to retreat. Ryder went over to his “Zack Pack”, as he started flirting with his managers at ringside. Ryder then told the girls to come with him, as they left the ringside area, and Ryder got counted out. Winner: Tommy Dreamer (By Countout) Evan Bourne was trying to be interviewed by Maria backstage until Santino Marella interrupted. Santino asked Maria how she was doing since they “breaked it up”, but then Santino responded by saying that he didn’t care. Santino was saying how he did miss Maria’s cooking, as well as her “abilities in the beds”. Sticking up for Maria, Bourne punched Santino, and Santino responded by saying, “You’re a marked man, Matt Bourne!” ECW Champion, Jack Swagger went into Eric Bischoff’s office. He told Bischoff that he appreciates the effort in trying to pretend like there’s legitimate competition for “The All-American American”. Swagger says that all three men in the main event are great competitors. But, he will have no problem destroying the winner. Charlie Haas vs. D.H. SmithSmith continues to float around and do nothing (read the Observer report later on), while Haas has been getting more of a push as of late. This was a technically sound match that did not have the crowd all that interested. Smith went for the Running Powerslam, but Haas slid out, and nailed Smith with a German Suplex Pin to get the three count. Winner: Charlie HaasSimon Dean was shown training with Colin Delaney, telling Delaney that his loss last week means that he needs more training. Dean kept saying it was Delaney’s fault he lost, and not the fault of the flawless Simon System. A battered “Party Boy” Paul London came out to the ring by himself. Using a somber, serious voice the whole time, London showed (in pictures) what happened at No Mercy. He said that over the past few months, his former best friend and brother The Brian Kendrick screwed him out of many victories including the Television Championship. But now, London cannot use the Shooting Star Press, and he has a decrease in salary which makes it harder to put food on the table. But most importantly, Layla has to leave ECW. London then wanted to bring out Layla, who slowly came out. London said that unfortunately, this is the end for Layla on ECW, and it is his fault. He told Layla that whether it’s Raw or Smackdown, he knows she will succeed. Layla then told London to be strong, and that this isn’t the end of the road for him. London then confessed to Layla that he has been in love with her, but he never wanted to get in the way of their professional careers. They both looked emotional, as they shared a short kiss. Layla then said she had to go, as she left the ring, in tears. The camera went onto London’s face as he looked depressed. Ezekiel Jackson vs. Val VenisThe announcers said that The Brian Kendrick was not here tonight for “his own personal safety”. This is Venis’s last match in the WWE as he was notified that he is being let go. He made sure to sell the moves well to leave a lasting impression. After dominating the entire match, Zeke gave Venis the Ura-Nage. Some people actually cheered him as he planted Venis with the Jackhammer to get the easy victory. Winner: Ezekiel JacksonAfter the announcers put over Zeke, Eric Bischoff and Maryse were talking backstage. Bischoff was explaining that when he ran Raw, he was known for being controversial and innovative. And he knows that some people are saying that he has been a “boring” version of his former self here on ECW. So to fix that, Bischoff said that starting next week, for the foreseeable future, every edition of ECW will have a theme to it. While still being vague on this new idea, Bischoff said that the theme of next week’s ECW will be taking allies, partners, and friends, and forcing them to compete against each other. Rey Mysterio once again tried talking to Ultimo Dragon. Mysterio said that he apologized last week if Ultimo thought that Mysterio stole his pin. But Mysterio said that he always wants to do what it takes to win the match. As usual, Ultimo said nothing. Mysterio gave a “whatever” type response, and told Ultimo he had a match to win. #1 Contender’s Match: Kofi Kingston (Television Champion) vs. Rey Mysterio vs. “The Gold Standard” Shelton BenjaminThe winner of this match will take on Jack Swagger for the ECW Championship at a later date. Mysterio has been tied up with Ultimo Dragon lately, while Kofi has been racking up successful Television Championship defenses. And Shelton just lost the ECW Championship after holding it for six months. This was a fantastic main event that finished near the 20-minute mark. Near the end, Mysterio ended up hitting Shelton with the 619. Mysterio went for the West Coast Pop while Shelton was standing, but Shelton reversed it into a Powerbomb for a near fall. Kofi then went for the Trouble In Paradise, but Shelton ducked and hit the Paydirt. He went for the cover, but Mysterio broke it up. Shelton was livid as he went to attack Mysterio, but Mysterio tripped him up, and hit another 619. He went for the West Coast Pop while Shelton was lying down, but Kofi caught him with the Trouble In Paradise in mid-air! Kofi went for the cover on Mysterio and got the three count to become the #1 Contender. Winner: Kofi KingstonSo despite being the Television Champion, Kofi Kingston was now the #1 Contender for the ECW Championship. The announcers plugged that next week, several friends and allies will be facing off against each other.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Notes
Starting with next week’s show, ECW on Sci-Fi is officially changing to being a one-hour program. However, the network will still allow for the show to end whenever it wants, similar to the overrun that always occurs on Raw with USA Network.
After being in the company for an impressive ten years, Val Venis was finally let go by the WWE.
D.H. Smith has been moved back down to Florida Championship Wrestling. The feeling is that sometime in 2009, there will be a new version of The Hart Foundation. And until then, there is not much for him to do.
As hinted on ECW, Layla will be switching brands. Officials have not decided whether to move her to Raw or Smackdown.

A solid opening segment to remind everyone of the great new ECW Heavyweight Champion and I hope you book his reign very well. I love that Shelton Benjamin is just awarded a rematch and that he most earn a rematch. I like Dreamer defeating Ryder by count out and I hope these two continue with the mini program. I like Evan Bourne sticking up for Maria to Santino. I hope Santino and “Matt Bourne” have a decent match when they meet up in the ring. I love how cocky Swagger is. Haas defeating Hart is okay considering D.H is getting sent down to FCW. I love how you gave the London/Layla segment to much emotion. I hope they can reunite down the road, somehow. Jackson squashing Venis is fine by me. I am surprised to see Venis go, but I guess it is about time. I wonder how long you can keep the theme ECWs going. I am interested to see what takes place next week. I am very surprised to see Kofi win the main event and he will have an amazing match with Swagger. I really hope Swagger has a great reign like the previous champions have. Overall, a good show.

- Very good opening segment with the new champion. Gets him over as a cocky heel, something he plays very well. - Cool to have a triple threat match for the number one contender spot. - Hmmm… not sure I like Ryder just up and leaving the match after challenging and insulting Dreamer. - Good segment with Bourne and Marella - Glad to see Haas on the winning end , again. - Fantastic segment with London and Layla. Again, well done on that feud. - Good squash for Jackson, and surprised to see Venis actually gone from the WWE. - I guess Kofi/Swagger will be a fresh feud. Good match.

Nice opening segment to put Swagger over as champion, and the triple threat match should be awesome. Good way to build the Ryder/ Dreamer feud, although I like to think Ryder has more self respect than to get with Ashley. Nice Santino segment, the man deserves a push tbh. Nice to see Haas to get a win, but it just felt like filler. Well written segment with London, hopefully he gets a title feud down the line. Didn't see any point in the Zeke/ Venis match, and I doubt WWE would use him on tv if he was already being let go. Nice idea with the theme, but I can see it getting old fast, just like the guest host idea on RAW right now. Good main event, but not sure on Kingston getting the win. The only way it will work is if your unifying the two titles or if Kingston drops the tv title. Decent show, but a lot of it just seemed like filler.

ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 7th October 2008...Michelle McCool boasting about the new ECW Champion, Jack Swagger is good, really wish you'd get rid of Michelle, though. She is dragging Swagger down in my opinion, from being a good and credible ECW Champion. Shelton Benjamin demanding a rematch is okay I guess, but it's not like he's got a chance of regaining the title, really. Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio facing Shelton in a contendership triple threat match? Should be good, I can't see Kofi being a credible contender to the ECW Championship though, WWE Television Champion or not. Looks like Mysterio or Benjamin has the best chance. Tommy Dreamer beating Zack Ryder riles Dreamer up for a rematch; this count out loss for Ryder actually helps his character. Evan Bourne being interrupted by Santino Marella was amusing, sets up for a win for Evan later tonight. Charlie Haas beating DH Smith? Hmm, ruins the push that Smith seemed to be on the road to getting, but meh, win for Haas is fine. It's just he lacks a character. Paul London leaving was fine, but the whole scenario seemed so Shawn Michaels 'losing smile' 1997-like. Not fond of it. Suppose he'll be back. Ezekiel Jackson beating Val Venis is okay, glad Venis is being let go. God I hated Zeke here though. Wait, so next week's edition of ECW on Sci-Fi is...the Battlebowl? Ugh, I hate the idea of strange bedfellow matches. They're thrown together and I personally don't care for them. At all. If it was ECW Roulette, I'd love it. Kofi Kingston gaining contention for the ECW Championship? Just please don't let it happen at Survivor Series. Kingston is not ready, WWE Television Champion or not. Good show, not looking forward to next week's edition.

ECW- Sorry for not keeping up with this as of late.
-Good segment to get Swagger over. i wonder how his title reign will stack up. -Funny how Zack Ryder lost. He reminds me of a ECW 07 Miz with all the ladies. -Ok mid match, DO something with Smith. -Nice London segment. I wonder how the loss will effect him. -Fine with the squash -Good main event, Kofi winning is a shock, don't put the belt on him, he's not ready.
