(August 26th, 2008) Charlie Haas vs. Ultimo DragonHaas is set to take on Shelton Benjamin for the ECW Championship in less than two weeks at Unforgiven. This was a good technical match to open up the show. Ultimo tried battling back after some offense from Haas, but Haas gave Ultimo a German suplex. After that, Haas strapped in the Haas of Pain, and Ultimo was eventually forced to tap out. Winner: Charlie HaasAfter the match, ECW Champion, “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin came out. Shelton asked Haas why he knew that they would fight each other at Unforgiven, but didn’t tell him. Haas didn’t really respond, and Shelton still wanted to know what’s up. He said that they are still a team, and they need to be on the same page. Haas took the microphone and said that they will be on the same page by the end of the night, if Shelton knows what he means. Haas left the ring as Shelton looked confused. Rebecca DiPietro was backstage interviewing Kofi Kingston. Kofi said that tonight is arguably the biggest match of his career as he defends the Television Championship against Rey Mysterio. He wishes Mysterio good luck, and says that it will be an honor to fight him. Zack Ryder went to talk to Joy Giovanni backstage again. Ryder says that he dedicates the upcoming match to her, and he can’t wait to see her at ringside. Val Venis w/Joy Giovanni vs. Zack RyderRyder almost seemed more interested in Joy than the match. After taking control, Ryder blew Joy a kiss. Venis got in some offense, but Ryder took over. Ryder ended up finishing Venis off with the Zack Attack to pick up the win. Winner: Zack RyderAfter the match, as Joy was checking on Venis, Zack went up from behind her and smacked her on the butt. Ryder then smirked as he left, and Joy seemed indifferent on the matter. D.H. Smith and “Party Boy” Paul London were talking backstage. Smith asked London to focus on their upcoming match, but London said that he cannot get The Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson off of his mind. Colin Delaney & Simon Dean vs. D.H. Smith & “Party Boy” Paul London w/LaylaDean and Delaney are fresh off of a tag team victory. The face team looked good though, and it was somewhat even throughout. The action eventually went all over, and London ended up finishing off Delaney with the Shooting Star Press to get the win for his team. Winners: D.H. Smith & Paul LondonSantino Marella (with Maria) was in Eric Bischoff’s office backstage. Santino kept begging for his job back. He even said that Maria would give Bischoff sexual services for Santino’s job back. Bischoff and Maryse laughed at that, and Bischoff said that he is happily married. But, once again, Bischoff told Santino that he has his job back if he wins tonight. Ezekiel Jackson w/The Brian Kendrick vs. Santino Marella w/MariaBoth participants were heels, but the match took place anyway. Santino tried to get in offense, but it did not work out too well. Zeke eventually gave Santino a one-handed choke slam, and then finished off Santino with the Jackhammer for the impressive victory. Winner: Ezekiel JacksonAfter the commercial break, “The All-American American” Jack Swagger and Michelle McCool came to the ring. Swagger went over last week how because of Tommy Dreamer, he got his first loss here on ECW, which was a fluke. And, he said that he made up for it, and more, by giving Evan Bourne five Gutwrench Powerbombs. Swagger said that he didn’t have bodyguards tonight, and he was calling Dreamer out to the ring like a man. Dreamer came out, and the two stood face-to-face. Swagger said that he is tired of Dreamer. He knows that Dreamer hates him for many reasons, including hospitalizing Beulah. And he hates Dreamer for many reasons, including what happened last week. But Swagger said that this all needs to end, as he challenges Dreamer to a match next week. Upping the offer, Dreamer challenged him to a Last Man Standing match. Without much hesitation, Swagger agreed to the match for next week. In a backstage interview, Rey Mysterio put over Kofi Kingston. He said that he was disappointed at first that he wasn’t going after the ECW Championship, but he said he likes the sound of “Television Champion, Rey Mysterio”. Television Championship: Kofi Kingston (Television Champion) vs. Rey MysterioThis was a long main event to close the show. The crowd was split on who they wanted to win, although Mysterio had more supporters. The match started off slowly, and it built up. Both men got roll-up attempts for near falls. At the end, Kofi went for the Trouble In Paradise, but Mysterio ducked, and Kofi hit the mat. Kofi charged at Mysterio, but Mysterio tripped him up, and hit the 619. Kofi got up so Mysterio could go for the West Coast Pop, but on the way down, Kofi hit the Trouble In Paradise in mid-air. The crowd ate it up, and both men were down. Just then, for no apparent reason, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin hit the ring and attacked both participants, which caused a disqualification. Winner: No Contest (Kofi Kingston Still Television Champion)Matt Striker said that this must be a message that The World’s Greatest Tag Team is on the same page, and that Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Haas picked up Kofi and gave him a huge German suplex. Shelton on the other hand planted Mysterio with the Paydirt. After the Paydirt, Haas picked up the ECW Championship and hit Shelton in the back of the head with it! The crowd was pretty shocked, although they did not really know how to react to it. After it happened, Haas seemed to regret it, repeatedly saying, “I’m sorry” as the show came to a close.

Haas/Benjamin should be awsome, great job on the Haas push btw, Rey/Kofi should be awsome, Ryder's character needs more catchphase WWYKI! so glad London is doing well esp with the TBK feud continuing, as I have said before Colin+Simon= amazing!, didn't like the Heel vs Heel I would have brought in a development star, Swagger/Dreamer = awsome then maybe a Swagger title run?, suprised at the end of the match I expected their to be a anouncement of WGTT vs. Rey and Kofi next week but Haas hitting Shelton is a real shocker, good luck and keep this up.

ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 26th August 2008...Fantastic opening contest to start off this edition, but wait, Charlie Haas is challenging for the ECW Championship against Shelton Benjamin at Unforgiven? I missed an episode and missed that? I expected a lot more of a strong match for pay-per-view, personally. Haas has floundered in the midcard scene on ECW for months, and I do like that he's getting a shot, but where he has been previously has put me off, personally. I can't see it. Haas beating Ultimo Dragon was foreseeable, not a problem with that, I just wish that Ultimo was not the guy to beat to get over sort, on the ECW roster. Interesting segment afterwards, I do approve of the authority punishing the ECW Champion, however. Zack Ryder's push continuing is nice, smart move there. Val Venis has stopped being relevent now, I think. Maybe have him released soon. DH Smith I hope gets pushed as a monster on ECW in time. He'd be good competition for a face champion. Paul London and DH Smith beating Colin Delaney and Simon Dean is okay, but I'm not exactly sure of where you're going with Delaney and Dean as a team. Hah, the effort of Maria and Santino Marella with Eric Bischoff is amusing. Ezekiel Jackson was debuted as a green competitor, and I haven't been fond of him until like, this past spring. Him beating Santino is fine, however. Good promo following up there, with Jack Swagger and Tommy Dreamer's feud resuming. Last Man Standing match at Unforgiven sounds nice. Last Man Standing match next week...okay I suppose. Great main event to finish things off, tension with World's Greatest Tag Team is great, Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio's match for the ECW Television Championship being ruined is fun, hopefully will happen another time. Good stuff.

What will happen when these two superstars collide in such a brutal match? Five days before they meet for the ECW Championship at Unforgiven, ECW Champion, “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas will be under the same roof. While being great friends, Haas attacked Benjamin last week. Will Haas explain his actions? Kofi Kingston held onto his Television Championship as his match with Rey Mysterio was cut short last week. - Dragon is really losing any resemblance of importance. Haas beating him isn’t that big a of deal anymore, but it gives him some momentum I suppose. - Good win for Ryder this week. - glad to see London get the pin fall in his tag team match. - Nice squash for the recently debuted Ezekiel Jackson. - Swagger/Dreamer in a Last Man Standing match should be really fun. Hopefully it is brutal. - Simple finish to the TV Title match. Didn’t want to hurt Rey Jr. and didn’t want the belt off of Kofi. - Very, very good aftermath with Hass nailing Benjamin with the belt an feeling bad about it. I really liked that.

(September 2nd, 2008) ECW on Sci-Fi started with a recap of the whole Jack Swagger-Tommy Dreamer feud. It highlighted their pay-per-view match from a few months ago, as well as Swagger’s brutal attack on Beulah. Charlie Haas was shown in Eric Bischoff’s office. He told Bischoff that he wanted time in the ring later to address ECW Champion, Shelton Benjamin on what happened last week. Bischoff said yes, and Haas walked off satisfied. Rebecca DiPietro interviewed The Brian Kendrick (who did all the talking) and Ezekiel Jackson backstage. “Party Boy” Paul London approached Kendrick, and said he meant no harm, as he would be outnumbered. London said that their last match had a “crap ending”, and that he wants another match with Kendrick. Kendrick told London that he and Zeke would plan out guidelines for the next match. London seemed confused as Kendrick smirked off, while Zeke tried to look intimidating. Non-Title Match: D.H. Smith vs. Kofi Kingston (Television Champion)This was a pretty good match, with the crowd behind Kofi despite both men being faces. Smith actually got in a good amount of offense, and had control late. Late in the match, he went for the Running Powerslam. However, Kofi slipped out, and when Smith turned around, he fell victim to the Trouble In Paradise. Kofi went for the cover, and picked up the win. Winner: Kofi KingstonSantino Marella was talking to Maryse backstage. He was trying to seem like a tough man while begging for her to set up a match to get his job back. Santino Marella w/Maria vs. Ultimo DragonIf Santino wins, then he is back on the ECW roster. It was a decent match in the short time it lasted, and Ultimo had control late. He went for the Dragon Sleeper, and locked it in. Santino shouted for Maria to come into the ring, and she obeyed her boyfriend. Ultimo let go of the move, as he wanted Maria out of the ring. After regaining himself, Santino went over to Maria, and shoved her straight into the turnbuckle! Ultimo went to check on Maria, and Santino rolled Ultimo up, and got the three count to get his job back Winner: Santino MarellaSantino did his trumpet celebration as he did not care in the slightest that Maria was hurt. Ultimo Dragon was walking backstage as Rey Mysterio approached him. Mysterio said that they go way back and he hasn’t seen Ultimo like this in a long time. Mysterio told him that he wants to see the old Ultimo Dragon back. Zack Ryder was backstage hitting on Ashley. He said that they should go out soon, if she’s lucky. He ended with the “Woo woo woo, you know it” line. For whatever reason, Ashley seemed impressed. Val Venis w/Joy Giovanni vs. Zack RyderThey fought last week, and Ryder had won. The match was somewhat even, although the ending result was the same as Ryder won with the Zack Attack. Winner: Zack RyderAfter the match, Ryder went over to Joy Giovanni and gave her a kiss on the lips. This was enough convincing as Joy left with Ryder, despite having managed Val Venis for months. In a backstage vignette, Simon Dean was coaching Colin Delaney, as Delaney was doing push-ups. #1 Contender Charlie Haas came out to the ring and called out ECW Champion, “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin. Haas said that first of all, after Unforgiven, they will go back to being The World’s Greatest Tag Team, no matter who the champion is. After that, Haas said that part of him wants to apologize for attacking Shelton last week. But, the other part of him does not. He said that since they were originally a team, Shelton has had a lot of success over on Raw, and then now as ECW Champion. And since then, Haas has fallen under the radar. But Haas says that he will not be held back any longer, and come Unforgiven, it will be his time to shine. Last Man Standing Match: “The All-American American” Jack Swagger w/Michelle McCool vs. Tommy DreamerThis was a really long main event that was pretty brutal. Weapons were used early on such as chairs, tables, and kendo sticks. Dreamer gave Swagger multiple kendo stick shots, but only got to the count of 6. Swagger regained control and set up a table in the ring. Swagger ended up giving Dreamer a snap slam through the table. It looked as if the match was over, but Dreamer got up at around 8.5. Swagger grabbed a chair, but Dreamer took control. Dreamer ended up planting Swagger with a Dreamer Driver onto the chair! The referee was counting, but Swagger slowly got up, and got to his feet at 9. The fight went to the outside by the announce tables. Dreamer hit Swagger with a monitor, and it busted Swagger wide open. Swagger still got to his feet by 8. Dreamer put three chairs on one of the announcers tables. The two wrestlers ended up fighting on the announcers table that was right next to the one with chairs on it. They slugged it out, but Swagger gave Dreamer was looked to be a low blow, which was obviously legal. Swagger then grabbed Dreamer, picked him up, and gave him a jumping Gutwrench Powerbomb through the other table that had the chairs on it! Swagger was slow to get up, but he successfully did. Dreamer had no chance, and he was counted down at 10. Winner: Jack SwaggerA bloodied Jack Swagger looked proud of himself as one more Unforgiven plug was made to close the show.

ECW Championship; TWGTT Battles It Out: “The Gold Standard“ Shelton Benjamin (ECW Champion) vs. Charlie HaasWrestling Observer Newsletter NotesThe Ultimo Dragon situation has gotten so bad that he wanted to quit. However, management convinced him to stay, at least for the time being. Evan Bourne should return to television soon. He has been selling the injuries from the Jack Swagger beat down a few weeks ago.

I liked the London/ Kendrick segment at the start of the show, hopefully Kendrick can get a big push out of this feud. Nice to see Santino back on ECW, although I've always enjoyed Santino as a comedy character compared to a usual heel. Good to see Ryder picking up the win, as well as Joy seeing sense and leaving with the superior superstar. I liked the Haas promo, although I don't see him getting the win over Benjamin. Awesome main event, and its great to see Swagger going over. Another solid show man, and its great to see this diary still going.

-Hopefully Haas doesn't blow his promo time -Kendrick/London II should be great -Glad to see DH Smith get involved, although he isn't great in ring. Kofi winning was the right call -Santino getting his job back is great, he's good comedy -Ryder/Ashley stuff was well done and him winning again was great. Leaving with Joy was excellent -Haas' promo seemed good, but I still don't see him winning -Amazing main event, Dreamer's at his best in matches with weapons. Swagger going over is great and the spots in the matches were sweet
Another great show, can't wait to see Haas/Benjamin

ECW- I'm glad to see Kofi keep the belt. He should really have a nice long title reign. i would have it until SS, and then ship him off to SD or Raw. Santino finally won heh? I'm not happy that he beat Ultimo, but after the Rey segment, I have hope. i would really like to see Ultimo do something productive. I'm glad Ryder won. Hmm I could see Ashely and joy fight over him. And let me take something from a former announcer, CATFIGHT!CATFIGHT! God Hass promo. I would lover to see Hass take the belt off of Benjamin. I could see it now, Charlie Hass, ECW champion. Hey I can dream, I love that WGTT won't split either. Good main event. Glad Swagger went over as it can really help his career. pretty brutal finish with the table and chairs.
Good show, please don't let Ultimo Dragon go.

The Brian Kendrick vs. Paul London II should be awesome. I can see London winning that one, and then Kendrick winning the blow-off. If their next match is the blow-off, then I see Kendrick winning. DH Smith vs. Kofi Kingston is a decent opener. Nice to see Kofi win, it made sense. Joy Giovanni and Zack Ryder are a great pairing. Nice that Joy left the Right To Censor. As much as I would love it, I really cannot see Charlie Haas beating Shelton Benjamin for the ECW Title. Swagger main eventing ECW twice in a row is good and him going over Dreamer will do good things for him on ECW.

(September 7th, 2008 ECW Championship: “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin (ECW Champion) vs. Charlie HaasThis was a battle between the two members that make up The World’s Greatest Tag Team. The match itself was a good, technical match. However, the crowd was not all that interested, especially since neither guy is really a face right now. Shelton gave Haas a Super Kick, but it wouldn’t put him away. Haas tried to lock in the Haas of Pain, but Shelton would not allow it. They kept telegraphing each other’s moves, having spent so much time in the ring together. Shelton ended up hitting the T-Bone Suplex, but Haas found a way to kick out. Haas regained control, and gave Shelton a German Suplex. He had the pin, but Shelton kicked out. Haas went for a second German Suplex, but Shelton kicked out once again. Haas went for a third German Suplex, but Shelton landed on his feet. When Haas turned around, Shelton met him with the Paydirt to pick up the victory and retain his title. Winner: Shelton Benjamin (Still ECW Champion)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Notes
There are ongoing discussion that ECW will not have their own house shows anymore. Some are lobbying for them to just tour with Smackdown, while others think that the current format is fine.
Tommy Dreamer is still banged up from his match against Jack Swagger this past week. He may miss a few weeks of in-ring action.

Unforgiven-.........Alright here we go now. I like how these two would be able to telegraph all of there moves. Very realistic, because there Tag Team partners! Yea! Very nice that Hass put up a pretty good fight in this one. I wish Hass had one, but I can see you are going to give Shelton a nice long title reign. I would probably only have him keep the belt until November to December. I think that would be enough amount of time. I also wonder what you will do with Hass. I hope you have something good for him. WWE doesn't know how to use him.

Figured this match wouldn't be too well received by the crowd as neither man is that charismatic, but glad it was a very good match. Figured Shelton would win as I can't see Haas as Champion of a brand. I see Shelton dropping the belt at the next PPV though possibly. Will wait and see.

ECW.Com Preview“The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin had another successful ECW Championship defense at Unforgiven. This time, he retained the gold against partner and friend, Charlie Haas. What is next for the champion? Last week, “The All-American American” Jack Swagger defeated Tommy Dreamer in a Last Man Standing match. What is the condition of these two? “Party Boy” Paul London wanted another match with The Brian Kendrick, but Kendrick said that he would make a list of terms. Is that list complete? Tune in this Tuesday on Sci-Fi at 9 PM EST to see all of this unfold!

Not really surprised that the crowd weren't into the match since, like Kev said, neither men are that charismatic. Especially Shelton, although that segment he done when Yoshi Tatsu debuted was awesome. Not shocked that Shelton won since up until a few weeks ago, Haas was doing jack sh*t. Ending to the match sounded pretty neat. I think a Championship Scramble for the ECW Title at Unforgiven would have been a fantastic idea and then Haas/Benjamin at No Mercy.

ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 2nd September 2008...Alright, I was not too fond of the fact that this edition opened up with three segments that weren't even in the arena. I feel you could've spread out The Brian Kendrick's interview from Charlie Haas in Eric Bischoff's office. Nice opening contest to kick off, however, with Kofi Kingston gaining momentum as ECW Television Champion, defeating DH Smith in a nice bout, though I hope Smith grows to become some sort of a badass, toughguy character. Santino Marella beating Ultimo Dragon shows how little you really care for Ultimo. I know he's past it, but there's definitely things I'd do with him. I do like Rey Mysterio wanting to switch things around, but if this includes Ultimo going heel and feuding Rey, I'd be happy. Zack Ryder beating Val Venis again, hmm, think it should've differentiated. I wish that Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin had confronted at the beginning of the program. This edition seems weak and random. Four matches on this edition? Has this program reverted back to being a sixty minute show? Great Last Man Standing match, with Jack Swagger beating Tommy Dreamer as predicted, but I wish that they had feuded into this at Unforgiven. Decent edition.
WWE Unforgiven: Sunday 7th September 2008...Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas would have had good chemistry, but I feel that it wasn't a pay-per-view worthy match, however it is good that you experimented with World's Greatest Tag Team feuding. Very intriguing to say the least. Predictable for Shelton Benjamin to defeat CHarlie Haas, but I hope that World's Greatest Tag Team's partnership is far from being over.
