ECW, nice to see the London/Kendrick match getting some build-up. Nice to see Hardy and Mysterio teaming up in their last match before SummerSlam. Wonder what will go down with Benjamin? Ashley... hot... blurgh. Glad to see Ryder win a squash again, hopefully you push him later on. I hope Santino gets his job back, would be good back on ECW. Surprised to see Haas win, but glad. I would have also liked Ultimo Dragon to win, but never mind. Lol, enter and exit Kenny. So glad Kingston beat Delaney. Great way to have a final build-up before the match, I hope to see Kendrick win. Glad to see Kendrick win, I laughed at the 'big, black man' lol, I'm immature. I guess it was Ezekiel? I hope it was because Zeke rocks! Swagger versus Bourne should be good for next week. Great ending to the show, the two possible contenders getting the better of the ECW Champion. Can't wait for SummerSlam!

I like the idea of making Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio team together, but that was a horrible way to kick off the show. Yes, Jeff and Rey are two big names, but they squashed Nunzio and Stevie Richards.. It would have been better if you brought a tag team in from SmackDown or RAW to face them. Loving the Zack Ryder push. Haas/Benjamin for the title soon? Awesome. I love that you've paired Delaney with Simon Dean. That is genius. Nice to see London/Kendrick main event the show, and even better to see Ezekiel Jackson debut. Nice way to close the show.

ECW Champion, “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin was interviewed backstage. He actually put over Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio, saying how it will be one hell of a match. But Shelton said that despite the fact that he cannot prepare for who he faces, he will come out victorious. Dream Match; Winner Receives Immediate Championship Shot: Jeff Hardy vs. Rey MysterioThe crowd was pretty hot for this match, and they were evenly split on who they wanted to win. It turned out to be a pretty long match as well, getting over 15 minutes of time. They traded shot to start off, and the pace of the match picked up. Mysterio gave Hardy some stiff kicks to the knee, and took control. Hardy fought back, keeping his ground. Hardy went for the Twist of Fate, but Mysterio shoved him away. Mysterio tripped him up and went for the 619, and connected. He went for the West Coast Pop, but Hardy caught him, and sort of gave him a Powerbomb. Hardy had him pinned, and did a bridge pin, and got the three count. Winner: Jeff Hardy (New #1 Contender)Hardy was holding his knee and regaining his breath while “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin came out for the next match. ECW Championship: “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin (ECW Champion) vs. Jeff HardyHardy tried fighting at first, but seemed pretty fatigued. Shelton dominated on a tired Hardy for the next few minutes. Shelton went for the T-Bone Suplex as the match looked over, but Hardy found a way to kick out. Shelton went for the Paydirt, but Hardy threw him off. Hardy got fired up, and took it to Shelton. Shelton tried to kick Hardy, but Hardy caught Shelton’s foot. Shelton tried for the spinning kick, but Hardy ducked. After Shelton hit hard, Hardy hit the Twist of Fate. A tired Hardy slowly climbed the ropes as the crowd came to their feet. He went for the Swanton Bomb, but the time delay allowed Shelton to move out of the way. Both men were getting up, and when they did, Shelton nailed Hardy with the Paydirt. Shelton went for the cover, and got the three count as the crowd sounded disappointed. Winner: Shelton Benjamin (Still ECW Champion)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Notes
As previously noted, ECW will be undergoing somewhat of a change to get the roster younger. Many guys such as Marcus Cor Von, Cody Rhodes, The Miz, Sylvan Grenier, and others have been built up over the past year or so to eventually be moved to Raw or Smackdown. And with many guys such as Swagger, Kingston, Bourne, and Ryder, that looks to be the new direction.
Speaking of all of this, Jeff Hardy is on his way over to Smackdown. The feeling is that it is not necessary to have both him and Mysterio on ECW. Hardy was originally moved over to ECW due to his ongoing problems. But the WWE has hopes that he can turn it around.
As mentioned on television, Evan Bourne will face Jack Swagger on Sci-Fi this Tuesday.

Good decision to put Shelton over Hardy seeing as Hardy is on his way out of ECW. Like that the built up stars will now move onto to the other brands, and the younger, less well known ones will get a chance to shine. The next ECW should be fun to read, look forward to it a lot!

SummerSlam, glad to see Benjamin putting over both men, but claiming that he will win in the end, which I hope he does. Jeff Hardy winning is great, although I hope Benjamin retains. Yes, and he does! A great pair of matches and I look forward to what comes of this, I can see Rey Mysterio get his shot at the title when it comes to Unforgiven.

-Surprised, but enjoyed Shelton putting over his potential opponents -Great Hardy/Mysterio match, it ended similar to a match I saw live between them -ECW Title match seemed slightly worse than the previous match but still good. Love that Shelton retained, and especially that he did it cleanly
Very good stuff and I like that Jeff's moving to Smackdown. Can't wait to see what you do with the young talent now.

WWE SummerSlam: Sunday 17th August 2008...Alright, you're top down, you're feeling like you're Ready to Roll...I think that Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio would have been an awesome way to open up SummerSlam, as it was a great pay-per-view afterall. I hope Jeff Hardy is the one to move to another brand over Rey Mysterio, by the way. I'm not too fond of Mysterio anyway, around this point, he was pretty boring to me. Hardy winning is sweet, loved the suspenseful finish to the bout, and a fifteen minute match sure sounds good. I think you could have made it better and more prestigious for Hardy and Mysterio's dream match for there to be a break before Shelton Benjamin against Jeff Hardy for the ECW Championship, maybe later on in the evening. Nonetheless ,good win for Shelton Benjamin as it increases his heat. Good show from the ECW brand.

Like DTP said, Jeff Hardy/Rey Mysterio would be a fantastic way to actually kick off SummerSlam. I'm easy with Jeff getting the title shot against Shelton Benjamin for the ECW Championship later on in the show. Shelton retaining the strap is fine by me, and Jeff moving to SmackDown or RAW is fine by me as I feel Rey is the better fit on ECW than Jeff. Overall, good stuff.

SummerSlam: I like this immediate title shot thing, glad Jeff won but I don't think he'll beat Benjamin. Happy to see Shelton retain though a reign for Hardy could've been class. Nice to see Jeff go to SmackDown! although it will be sad not seing him on your ECW. I'm sure Mysterio will be next contender.

(August 19th, 2008) ECW on Sci-Fi opened up with ECW Champion, “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin coming out. Shelton says people may be tired of him coming out after every pay-per-view, bragging about his title defenses. But, he says that he is just that good, so he is allowed to. He said Hardy was a worthy challenger, but not good enough. Not before long, Charlie Haas came out to the ring. Haas said that his previous victory on Sci-Fi had title implications. And after talking with Eric Bischoff, those implications were towards Shelton’s ECW Championship. Haas said that at Unforgiven, he would be challenging his best friend, Shelton Benjamin for the ECW Championship. Shelton looked confused, and then Haas offered a handshake. The two shook hands, and that was it. “Party Boy” Paul London and Layla were talking backstage. London said that he was pissed off about how a mystery guy cost him his big match last week against The Brian Kendrick. He reiterated the fact that this was far from over. Layla said that maybe he should just let it go and move on from Kendrick. London was shocked at that comment, and said that it was far from over, whether anyone, including Layla, liked it or not. Santino Marella came out for the next match. Eric Bischoff appeared on the titantron and said that if Santino won, he would get his job back. If Santino Wins, He Gets Job Back: Rey Mysterio vs. Santino Marella w/MariaMysterio was coming off of a tough loss at Summerslam to Jeff Hardy. The crowd was pretty into the match, as Santino had his cowardly heel role down. Santino pretended to Hulk Up, and charged at Mysterio, but Mysterio tripped him up. After a 619 and West Coast Pop, Mysterio picked up the win. Winner: Rey MysterioAfter Bischoff was talking to Maryse about tonight’s big main event between two undefeated stars, Rey Mysterio went into Bischoff’s office. Mysterio said that he thinks he deserves a title shot. Bischoff says he’s right; so for next week, it will be Rey Mysterio challenging for the Television Championship. Colin Delaney & Simon Dean vs. Nunzio & Ultimo DragonThe new duo of Delaney and Dean had been struggling so far. This match also showed how Ultimo is being misused by the WWE once again. Delaney tried to show his muscles off by picking up Nunzio over his head, but it failed. Near the end, Delaney kissed his muscles and then planted Nunzio with an inverted DDT to get the win for his team. Winners: Colin Delaney & Simon DeanThe Brian Kendrick was backstage introducing the man who debuted last week, Ezekiel Jackson. Kendrick said that they are a force to be reckon with here on ECW. Ezekiel Jackson w/The Brian Kendrick vs. Mo SextonThis was a glorified squash match as the gigantic Ezekiel Jackson, or “Zeke” for short was dominating. Aside from a punch that did not move Zeke, Sexton got in no offense. Zeke ended up nailing Sexton with one-handed choke slam. But Zeke was not done, as he nailed Sexton with a Jackhammer to get the win in his debut. Winner: Ezekiel JacksonKenny Dykstra brought in a sign that said, “The Protest: Week 17” into Eric Bischoff’s sign. Bischoff got very pissed off, saying that he doesn’t like handing out title shots. But because Kenny has been so annoying, he will give him a title shot against Kofi Kingston. But if Kenny loses, then he is fired! And Bischoff said that the match is up next! Television Championship vs. Career: Kofi Kingston (Television Champion) vs. Kenny DykstraKenny seemed nervous, but he seemed more aggressive than usual. They went back and forth for a few minutes with Kofi getting in most of the offense. Kenny went on the attack, and went to the top rope. He went for a leg drop off the top rope, but missed. When he got up, Kofi met him with the Trouble In Paradise to get the three count and retain his title. Winner: Kofi Kingston (Still Television Champion)Kenny was throwing a fit at ringside as the announcers mentioned that Kofi Kingston will defend his Television Championship against Rey Mysterio next week. Zack Ryder was shown backstage talking to Joy Giovanni. Ryder said that he “wow’d” Ashley last week, and he can tell that he is doing the same with Joy this week. Ryder reiterated the fact that all the women on ECW were attracted to him. He finished it off by saying, “Woo, woo, woo…you know it.” He then proceeded to give Joy a kiss on the cheek as he left. Val Venis eventually came over and asked Joy what that was all about. Battle of Undefeated: Evan Bourne vs. “The All-American American” Jack Swagger w/Michelle McCoolBoth men have been undefeated here on ECW, and this match came about when Swagger wanted to be the true undefeated star. This was a good match that was relatively even throughout. It was clearly power vs. quickness. Swagger ended up giving Bourne three straight belly-to-belly suplexes as the end was near for Bourne. As Swagger was going for the Gutwrench Powerbomb, Tommy Dreamer’s music hit as he came out. Bourne had convinced Swagger last week to not have bodyguards, so there was nothing stopping Dreamer from hitting the ring. Swagger turned his attention to Dreamer, and Bourne rolled up Swagger to get the upset victory! Winner: Evan BourneDreamer smirked and then walked back up the ramp as Swagger was beyond irate. He looked like he was about to explode as he attacked Bourne. Swagger lifted him up and gave him a Gutwrench Powerbomb. Swagger picked him back up and gave him a second Gutwrench. He showed so much intensity and picked up Bourne and planted him with a third Gutwrench. Swagger still would not stop as he picked Bourne up and hit him with an unbelievable fourth Gutwrench. He was still pissed off, kicking the ropes. To top it all off, Swagger picked up Bourne and gave him a huge, FIFTH Gutwrench Powerbomb. Swagger still look beyond mad as the show came to a close.

ECW Championship; TWGTT Battles It Out: “The Gold Standard“ Shelton Benjamin (ECW Champion) vs. Charlie HaasWrestling Observer Newsletter NotesKenny Dykstra was released from the WWE this past week. Creative seemingly had nothing for him, which was why his angle, that was going nowhere to begin with, was abruptly dropped. As mentioned on television, Kofi Kingston vs. Rey Mysterio for the Television Championship will headline next Tuesday’s show.

ECW- Nice opening promo. I'm shocked to see Hass get the shot. i'm glad you are pushing him. I can see him taking the belt though. Rey winning was obvious, but I'll like to see Santino back. ok tag match. Don't have much to say about it, i'll would like to see Dragon do something. Zeke/Kendrick is a big yea. Zeke winning was seen coming, I would like Zeke and Kendrick go somewhere after the London feud. I can see Kenny being fired. Hey I was right? Kofi vs. Rey shall be fantastic. Woo Woo Woo I look at Ryder's future in this diary. I like what I see. good main event, surprised that Evan won the match. Makes sense that Dreamer helped him. I could see this going into a three way feud with the winner facing the ECW champion for the belt.
I liked this show. please put the belt on Hass

-Haas/Benjamin at Unforgiven should be a great match, but the crowd probably won't care for it -Mysterio over Santino was expected, I don't like the idea of Mysterio going after the Television Title, but him against Kofi should be good -Delany and Dean are an interesting pairing, nice to see them win -Ezekiel Jackson debuting is nice and having him squash makes sense -Kofi over Kenny was obvious, surprised to see Kenny fired though. Wonder if he's going to come back or not -Ryder segment was well done again -Surprised to see Bourne win, but with it being a rollup, Swagger doesn't look bad. The five Gutwrenchs were an awesome close to the show
Another good show, as always

The opening to ECW was nice. I'm not too sure on Haas getting a title shot, albeit it will be a great match, but Haas has done next to nothing until a few weeks ago. I'm glad you're not rushing Rey into an ECW Championship match straight away. Kofi/Rey could be great, and could do wonders for Kofi if he won. I'm absolutely loving the team of Delaney/Dean. Fantastic stuff. Shocked to see Dykstra released since he is a great talent, but obviously you've had nothing for him. I would have liked to see something come from the protest he had going though. Ryder segment was awesome. Venis/Ryder? Fantastic main event. Surprised that Bourne won, but that's great since it helps Bourne and furthers the Swagger/Dreamer feud, which has pretty much been all Swagger. Awesome way to close the show. This is a fantastic diary, PC. I'm really getting into it more and more each time you put a show up.

- Haas going for the strap is fantastic. I really hope he pulls out the win. - Is Layla going to side with Kendrick? - Easy win for Rey Jr. to get some momentum back from his PPV lost. - Yeah, I find it odd that Dragon is in meaningless matches. Surprised that Colin got the pin. - Good squash for Ezekiel. - Sad to see Kenny gone from WWE. - Zack Ryder is awesome. - Huge win for Bourne, and I liked that Swagger can blame Dreamer for the lost. - Five gut wrench power bombs? Perhaps the lost doesn’t hurt him now that he like destroyed Bourne. - Very good show.

ECW.Com PreviewPer Eric Bischoff, Rey Mysterio will take on Kofi Kingston for the Television Championship. Will Kofi have another successful title defense, or will Mysterio add more gold to his collection? After finding out that partner and best friend Charlie Haas would be challenging for his ECW Championship, “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin was in shock. What will happen when the two of them are under the same roof? Last week, “The All-American American” Jack Swagger suffered his first loss here on ECW. However, it was not without the distraction of Tommy Dreamer. And after the match, Swagger gave Evan Bourne five Gutwrench Powerbombs. What is Bourne’s condition, and how will Swagger verbally react to what went down? Tune in this Tuesday on Sci-Fi at 9 PM EST to see all of this unfold!
