Hollywood Hulk Hogan Dudley Boyz Kurt Angle Snuka 2001ish Hardy Boyz This keeps happening over and over again. Even if we give them a pass on the Dudleyz there’s still other examples. Mattel have got to start doing iconic looks first and not Shield Angle or American Made Hogan or WM35 Angle or Snuka in boots (although I don’t want a Snuka now it’s still an example) I still want the Snuka. Same here. Tiger print, cheetah print, I don't care as long as he's barefoot and in trunks. I do think they nailed the face sculpt though. I've been pissed more than once at certain attires being basics and not elites. Mr. Perfect in the yellow singlet and especially Warrior in the green trunks, pink pads are the some of most iconic versions of both, the way they looked in Wrestlefest. I would've preferred that Warrior, specifically, to the Legends 4, Elite 26, Shango two pack, HOC, Ultimate Maniacs "DM" (don't get me started on that one)... pretty much any except legends 6, HOF 1 and the first DM. To be fair though, sometimes they manage to nail it. I'm VERY glad they picked my favorite Quake attire for Elite 35. I'm very glad we got Heenan in his jacket in Fan Central 2. I love how Monsoon and Mean Gene have two attire choices and could go on and on too.

I’m so upset we didn’t get 2001 Hardyz. Also all the people criticizing the fans not happy about all the missed attires and defending Mattel need to understand just because we call them out on these things and their mistakes doesn’t mean we hate the company or don’t support them. It’s good to call them out on these faults because you would think eventually they would learn from their mistakes and improve their product. However in this case clearly they didn’t.

But are they mistakes? No the attire choices are just personal preferences. There are members here who hate Sting’s GAB ‘90 attire but for me that was my number one wanted attire. It’s an attire I have wanted released in figure form since the match took place. And I have made a version of it with every figure line that had a Sting in it since I saw that match so to finally get a true released figure in that attire was perfect for me. Same with the Legends Series Road Warriors that was the era and look I wanted most. The only thing that would have made those attires better if the writing on the tights was in yellow instead of red. Now some of the parts choices are mistakes but not attire choices.

It should be pretty obvious by now, that Mattel doesn't cater to us on here. You know that the choice for some attires, is solely based on whether Bill himself, is a fan of that particular look - and some won't get made at all if he's not.

Whether there mistakes or not is relative however it’s pretty clear that the fans have made some things clear on what they really want and I understand it’s a business but you can’t tell me 2001 hardyz aren’t highly requested figures that would sell pretty well.

It comes down to running a business I believe. WWE gets these guys under contract. The assumption is they’re going to stay on contract for a long time. Some don’t have long lasting appeal so you get what you can quickly (Tugboat/Typhoon/Shockmaster) while others will stay relevant for decades (Hogan/Hardy’s/etc). The ones that everyone wants will continue to make you heaps of money over the course of longer periods of time if delay them. Look at Sting just getting the crow debut attire. Macho Man has gotten several over the years. Let’s talk Hardy’s. We’ve gotten one every couple waves, including 3 exclusive 2 packs ranging several different years. Didn’t Matt say something about looking to end his career in WWE back after they returned? Why wouldn’t Mattel think it safe to keep them relevant in figure form as their contract to make figures continues? Same with the Dudleys. They didn’t know Dvon would settle in as a producer but Bubba would want to keep wrestling elsewhere. Hollywood Hogan? It was widely known a year long nWo event was coming from Mattel, with HH being the crown jewel figure just before his release. Long story short, I believe most of the attires the collecting community demands, which represents a very small portion of the total consumer population by the way, will eventually be made. But burning us out on the obvious too soon does a disservice to our wallets, their bottom line, and quite frankly the wrestlers whose time in the ring is very finite and Merch like this can keep that check coming longer and longer.

It’s all relative to your opinion. American Made Hogan is one of my favorite figures and I’m so happy they made it. Even if someone personally wanted 02-03 Hollywood you can’t deny that 84-86 Hogan was a phenomenon. That figure definitely deserved its spot.

After all these years I'm surprised Scott Hall, Sean Waltman and Ric Flair didn't screw up after signing their merch contracts... More power to them. With that being said, a 97-98 elite X-Pac with no tongue sticking out, M/Circle crotch design in green or white would be pretty cool and also add a debut 123 kid with that. For Hall, a lot of Razors, elite WMX is my ideal but Scott had so many attires to pick from like Warrior and Macho man (to an extent). As for Flair, WCW 1998 and 2004 Evolution with that Shinsuke body mold. If any of those don't see the light of day, that's when mattel most def ed up lmao giving that they have the rockstar reputation, those are the guys you want to keep pumping out.

Maybe if they were decided by some kind of poll.
Oh wait...

The fact that they gave us Shield Kurt Angle over ECW Kurt Angle says it all. They don't give a damn what we want. Can't believe that Shield Angle was a thing... A RSC Exclusive too, for a RSC Exclusive price. I only bought the Shield Angle to piss off my son who is a Shield fan . . . They do need an icon line with the most iconic attire for each figure. Hopefully, some day with 3D printing, everything will be on demand and they can create everything that way. I wonder if that would kill the collector’s resale market, though.

I always find it weird when people bring up American Made Hogan in threads like this, as if Hollywood or Hulk Still Rules would have been an RSC exclusive instead. That look didn’t “take” a spot from an iconic Hogan, because an iconic Hogan look wasn’t going to be a niche site exclusive. It was basically a bonus look. They didn’t even do a Hulk Rules 1990 figure. The RSC could’ve easily been his Wrestlemania 6 gear There’s been several RSC figures that were iconic attires. All three Macho figures, DX IYH Shawn, 2002 Kane was exclusive for almost a decade, 2001 Kane still is, they had the only Brian Kendrick figure, Cactus Jack was an exclusive character to them for several years. Adding to all that, in the digital age, Ringside figures have been the easiest figures to acquire in the entire Mattel line. They are consistently available, only a few have sold through in less than a year. And they ordered extra shipments of Deadman’s Revenge because it was so popular (and I believe they actually did this for 2002 Kane as well)

Attire selection has always been an issue, and there are countless examples, some more extreme than others. How did we never get a WCW Jericho? Until he came back, why was the only Elite FB Rey Mysterio in the most bland attire possible, while he had a few colorful basics. Heck, why did we never get New Day Elites in their pink/baby blue gear that was their go-to for ages. There are some painfully glaring omissions. And there's no question that many of them were avoidable. Your post has made me angry about blue or pink New Day all over again. They only made Xavier in red too 😠

There is no excuse for the "All American" New Day Elites to be thing and Neon pink/blue New Day to not.

I second the New Day comment. There is no excuse for the "All American" New Day Elites to be thing and Neon pink/blue New Day to not. Bill loves his USA flag attires So I've noticed. It's... a bit troubling actually. I'm all for civic pride and all, but having All American Elites of Zack Ryder, Jeff Hardy, The New Day, Sting, and pretty much all the ones got? I'm almost surprised they haven't made the Lex Express as a custom vehicle by now.
