Tbh Okada doesn't look that bad to me BUT I think I'm gonna repaint the IWGP Heavyweight belt to be more accurate

Brian's images look really nice, the skin tone looks well out of whack and just unrealistic in ringside's hopefully it's just poor photos

I will say, regardless of how they turn out. Every figure having grip hands with unpainted tape is unacceptable.

http://instagr.am/p/CL_AxHCnCvt On the one hand, this definitely looks like damage control from Super 7. But in the other, the figures look much better (still not big on Iishi or Osprey though) but between this, the livestream, Myers pics, and even the second set of RSC pics, I’d definitely looking like these are much better than the first pics suggested. Very curious to see in-hand photos as shipments begin to arrive. Even in these pics they look bad. I'll be canceling my Myers and Cardona preorder and so happy I didn't sign up for the Good Brothers. At $45 a pop they should acknowledge these turds of a product, rather than try pumping them. At least Jeremy was upfront with series 1s short comings.

I originally had these preordered through Biggie but changed over to Ringside about six months ago because I figured RSC would get them quicker. So, I'm already in on this wave as they've shipped and they have had my $180 for a while now. If I was still with Biggie, I totally would have cancelled Ospreay the moment I saw him. The others I'm waiting to see how they look in hand, but Will just looks bad.
I've got Wave 2, Majors, and Good Brothers preordered through spamS. I'll wait on the NJPW figures to show up in my hands before I decide what to do, but there's a good possibility they're being cancelled.

Sorry but Brian and Matt were coping about these figures. They look terrible for the price that people are paying for them.

I'll have mine in hand next week, and I'm going to reserve final judgement until then.
The more pictures I see of them, I don't think they look that bad. The belts don't look like they turned out very good, so that is a little bit of a bummer.
I'm really curious to see how they look next to some Elites and AEW figs.

I canceled my NJPW wave 2 and Myers/Cardona. I wish I could cancel Wave 1. It was hard to see Cardona trying to justify the figs during the live unboxing. It makes me believe their figures won't be much better.

These are horrible. It isn't even a matter of looking bad, it's that the figures themselves are not up to the standards of 2021 for a $20 mass market toy let alone a made to order $50 product.
The paint looks much better in Brian's pics, but the sculpts are weak and barely resemble the real person. Unacceptable in the world of face printing where you can get a nearly photorealistic likeness in a cheap toy. The plastic is shiny and soft-looking like a cheap old toy instead of a collectible reproduction of a person.
The bodies are embarrassing. How do you mess up the scale that badly when each figure has a unique sculpt? How do you think that the U-cut torso joints are a good decision when Mattel should have stopped doing them seven years ago? How do you mess up simple details like Ishii's wrist tape? Why do $50 figures not have double jointed elbows or knees? It is impossible for these figures to be posed doing the moves these wrestlers are known for. How do you do a Rainmaker when you can't bend the elbow enough for a ripcord? How do you do a hidden blade when the figures can't convincingly get on their knees? Imagine if Kenny was still with NJPW, his figure wouldn't be able to do a V-Trigger.
The gear looks pretty good, but it's oversized and the belts seem to have inaccurate paint still. I'm not convinced they even tried with Ospreay.
I now don't blame NJPW at all with their withholding of approval. It's clear that they don't like these. Japan is the home of the best action figure tech and sculpts in the world and these don't match the standards of $4 sofubi Ultraman sculpts, let alone the articulation of price-competitive s.h. figuarts. I figured this would happen after pics of their Conan stuff came out, but this is still disappointing. Hopefully the AEW-NJPW partnership moves into merchandise and we can get Unrivaled versions of these guys as they are some of the best wrestlers in history and deserve figures that can stand next to their contemporaries without looking inferior.

Yeah, so it turns out New Japan were trying to do us a favor by withholding approval

I don't like the Ospreay, but the rest are good enough for me.
