Who soiled themselves tonight during the last 2 minutes of Arrow? I cant believe Merlyn is alive. I cant believe he is Thea's dad.

Surprising, but I'm actuallyn ot sure if I like it. I don't think the show needs Malcolm anymore, I just hope this doesn't come off as too forced.
The count was horrible as he has always been, easily the worst villain on the series, cannot stand the actors portrayal. THe flashbacks and the last two minutes saved this episode from bad territory

THe flashbacks and the last two minutes saved this episode from bad territory Totally disagree with The Count. Vertigo is great and a major player in the GA universe. Malcolm aka John Barrowman is fantastic. In addition, I hated that he was "killed off" last season. So his return is STRONGLY welcomed. Malcom should be Oliver's arch nemesis. He and Slade should play Oliver's top 2 foes on the show. They have done an unreal job at building the Slade/Oliver feud in the flashbacks. We have watched the 2 characters grow and become friends and we now begin to see the tension rise and suspect why they will become arch enemies.

First off, I like Vertigo in the comics tremendously. I just hate this shows and actors portrayal, in my opinion, it's just too stupid, overdone, and quite frankly yterrible, and doesn't fit in at all for me.
And I'm not even against bringing Merlyn back. I do worry they'll go to the well too many times with him though. For example, I love Smallville, and I loved Lex Luthor on the show. Yet I was actually quite glad when he left, as by the time season 6 rolled around, there was no longer anything interesting to do with him. Season 7 remedied it a bit with him discovering Clark's secret, but by season 6, you were running out of things to do with him, and it was feeling like overkill.
I just don't want something similar to happen with Merlyn, and if he stays around the majority of the series, it just might. i'm evne ok with him coming back this season, I just would have saved it for the second half. Not really a need to reveal himself yet. Mostly becaue the Brother Blood stuff is just starting to get going, and so is the stuff with Rochev, and I don't want that distracting over hanging presence in the background overshadowing everying. I simply would have preferred Barrowman to return later in the season, and not right now

I agree, Vertigo is horrible on the show. The guy reminds me too much of David Tennant and it's really distracting. To the point where when he's trying to be dastardly, I think he's doing a horrible Doctor Who impersonation. I just don't like the portrayal of the character.
Merlyn coming back is meh to me as of now. I felt really satisfied with how last season ended and bringing him back is kind of a cop-out imo. So what, Ollie is going to just keep putting him in Iron Heights and he'll just keep breaking out and this will go on-and-on? I like introducing new bads over the course of a season and then moving on. We will certainly see how this goes but I'm not a particularly big fan of the Lazarus Pit loophole because it's been done to death.
I used to think Katie Cassidy was pretty hot. Now, I think she looks like Skeletor. Not sure what exactly she pulled from Season 1 to 2, maybe just lost more weight than necessary, but her face looks pretty bad. I'm team Felicity anyway, but the new look with her face and the sh*tty attitude exemplified this season has really made the Laurel character irrelevant for me.
The episode overall was really good. I liked them getting Moira off the way they did and I like that Ollie didn't buy into it. The backstory with the island this week was the best part for me. I like that we got a peak at the meaning of the arrow head with the coordinates on it, and that Sara is now with Shado, Ollie and Slade. I don't trust Sara at all, so it's hard for me to relate with Ollie if he's going to be so naive with her after she just betrayed him.
I really liked last weeks episode, a great deal, so this wasn't as good for me, but still a good episode. I want to see more of the Sebastian Blood stuff. I was hoping they would just focus on building him up more versus bringing back Barrowman, which just makes Blood feel secondary now. Again though, going to see how it all plays out.

I simply would have preferred Barrowman to return later in the season, and not right now We basically are at 2nd half. I believe next week is the Mid Season Finale. So they reintroduced him, but probably wont have any interaction with Oliver till the end of next week's episode at the earliest. I also disagree with you concerning Luthor and Smallville. I really felt Smallville lost a BIG part of the show when Lex left. A part it never really regained. If they revealed the secret sooner, they would have had a TON to do with him before he left. Smallville slowly died following Lex and even Lana's exits. I never liked that they introduced Lois into the mix. I agree, Vertigo is horrible on the show. The guy reminds me too much of David Tennant and it's really distracting. To the point where when he's trying to be dastardly, I think he's doing a horrible Doctor Who impersonation. I was thinking the same about Katie....just not as hardcore as you. She seemed to have lost like 10lbs and its not a good look on her. She needs a freaking happy meal. Last season she was downright freaking sexy as hell. I LOVE Felicity....just not for Oliver. I think she makes a great asset for Oliver, a friend....but nothing more. Love the character. Love Emily Bett Rickards. Hope she finds romance.....Nightwing perhaps.....but not Oliver. I love the chemistry between Oliver and Laurel. I really hope they dont mess with that. I still dont care for the fact that Oliver and Laurel broke up after Tommy died. I'm very confused on this whole Sara thing. Shocked she was alive. MORE SHOCKED that Oliver knew and covered it up. Dying to know what happened on the island with him and Sara. The Arrow writers have outdone themselves. This has become my favorite show on tv, passing The Vampire Diaries. The writing is AMAZING.

I agree about Laurel, she just isn't doing for me this season, maybe it's the hair idk. Definitely think Felicity is amazingly hot though, I also hope that she and Oliver don't end up together, but it does seem like it may be headed that way.
I'm fine with Malcolm being back, I think it sets up for a very interesting 2nd half of the season. I can't wait to see some more of these flashbacks, they have been one of the high points of this season for me.

Smallville is my all time favorite show, but I get some flack it seems for Season 9 being my favorite season. Season 8 is my third favorite behind 9 and 5 as well. Also loved 10. I honestly thought the show felt reinvigorated once Lex left. I was sad to see him go, and loved Rosenbaum, but onceh e left, it's like they could suddenly get away from status quo, and they really amped up the DC universe additions, and had new things to do. I think 9 was easily the strongest season of the series for me

I never had any doubts that both entities would be kept separate.its typical DC/WB media division BS.

None of that indicates that Stephen Amell cant play GA and Gustin cant play Flash. So I'm confused. Oh and guys....check out the link in my signature if you are interested in Arrow merchandise like tshirts, hoodies, mugs, phone cases, etc.

Loved last night's episode, seeing Slade at the end gave me chills.
Can't wait until the second half of the season, this season has been amazing so far, imo.

So good to have Arrow back.
Really, really enjoyed last night's episode. Good way to start things after the break.
Wonder where they're going with Laurel popping pills...

Also, in case anyone hasn't heard yet, Episode 20 is apparently no longer going to be a backdoor pilot for The Flash, since they're planning on making a full pilot episode for the show.

Considering my lack of love for Grant Gustin as The Flash....I'm glad he wont be taking an Arrow episode to introduce his show.

Arrow's ratings continue to rise. They outdid CBS in the 8-9 slot.
