Jim Ross has posted a blog on his official website regarding his move to SmackDown last night during the WWE Draft. Here is an excerpt of what he said regarding the move.
As many of you know, I was “drafted” to Smackdown Monday night in the “random lottery”. Obviously that means I will be leaving Monday Night Raw and my long time partner Jerry Lawler.
I am not happy about this surprise development.
I also contemplated calling it a career Monday night and not going to Houston to tape SD.
After speaking with my wife and thinking on this matter until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, I have decided to do the right thing for the fans who care and the talent who care and begin my new assignment.
It has been explained to me that the WWE’s Smackdown tenure on My Network is a high priority within the corporation. Allegedly, my presence is needed in that effort.
Many are speculating about when I learned of this development…the same time those of you were watching at home. I should have detected something with the demeanor of certain individuals either thru their plastic, poker faces or the perceived smirk that I thought I might have seen on some of their faces during the day.
As far as going to Connecticut each week to do Smackdown post production, that’s not going to happen. Either Mick Foley can handle it or the WWE can install a DSL line in my home to facilitate the work.

Good for JR. That really sucks he got demoted, as he was a great announcer.

I don't understand this. This is insubordination in the highest. The WWE is supposed to present each brand as equal within the state of the company, but they have one of their highest profile people going on the internet, and ragging his "demotion". It's idiotic, and I, personally, wouldn't blame Vince if he fired J.R.

Haha just as I predicted, ing prick want/ed to quit. How is he a prick? He's been on Raw for good knows how long. I'm sure you'd be pissed too if you got moved like that.

I think that sucks that they don't even tell them there moving, even someone like JR. Who has been around forever and has some power in the company. I now they want to keep it secret but that is just not right.
Edit* I also didn't know that Cole has called every smackdown except 2 in ten years, pretty cool. How did he know that off the top of his head though?

If anything, Jerry Lawler should be on SmackDown!. So I agree with JR

All you people mocking him are quite funny. The man has been the voice of the WWE for many many years on Monday Night Raw.
And incase people haven't noticed, SD is not the "A show" though many of you wish to believe that for some reason. It may be as far as talent or whatever, but as far as the WWE is concerned Raw is the flagship. And if I was JR I'd be pretty pissed off.
He was the main guy for years and he wasn't even informed of the pick before hand. Granted, that makes for better television, of all people he should have been informed. If he quit, which he already said he wont, I wouldn't be mad at him.

Well you have to admit, Michael Cole did RAW in 99, and it wasn't exactly a euphoric announcing time on Monday nights then.

God, he is such a baby. He literally pouts and moans on camera? Very unprofessional and childish. He always pouts when he doesn't get his way. Wow, thanks for deciding to do your job "for the fans" like he's doing us some kind of favor. He's lucky he got to be on Raw as long as he did, seeing as how he barely knows how to call half the wrestling moves.
Plenty of people got switched and it was a surprise to them as well, but you didn't see anyone else moping around acting like their dog just died.

Raw only gets the special 3-hour shows, other then that both brands have headlined big PPV's, both have big name talent (eg. Taker, Triple H, Hardy, Edge for SD) and both have a two hour prime time slot. Only other difference is that Raw has been around a little longer.

Good, go ahead and quit. That way, Joey Styles could get the commentating position that he rightfully deserves...you know, the one JR stole from him.

Hey JR sadly thats life. Things change and you cant always have it your way. So either get on with it or get the hell off my TV. You've still got a highly paied job and can afford to live well so what more do you want.
