Why does age matter? Sting can still physically go. He's far more entertaining at 56 than nearly anyone else in the roster is. I say give him the title, because it will be awesome. Age does matter. People hated when Brock held the belt and never showed up. Can a 56 year old man handle the schedule that you all wanted Brock to be partaking in? Or is that just another double standard. What was crap when Brock did it is awesome when Sting does it. Who says Sting can't have a full run with the title for a few months?

I'd be all for Sting winning but it doesn't seem likely.

He won't have Hogan backing him this time, so there's zero chance he wins.

Sting doesn't NEED to win. He's seen it all and pretty much done it all at this stage. However, I would like to see him have the WWE title at least once before he retires. Rollins will win, and honestly? I'm OK with that. Rollins NEEDS the win here, CLEANLY.

You obviously would if you like Sting. But you also admit that he doesn't NEED it. I appreicate this post.

I would say Rollins has to win more than Sting. WWE is constantly putting all of these guys who show up a handful of times per year over their current crop. If they keep telling us that Lesnar, Rock, Taker, and Sting are more important than Rollins, Ambrose, Reigns, or whoever else, why should we care to see Rollins vs Reigns or Ambrose (You know, the feuds actually carrying the company for the past year) when the other guys inevitably leave again? It's time they get rid of that divide between the old guys and the new guys. Time for them to stop treading water while they're waiting for one of the old guys to show up again. It's why someone other than Taker should beat Lesnar, and why Seth should beat Sting.
Also, it's hard for me to buy Sting vs The Authority again after WrestleMania. Even if they say Sting just wants the title, he never even earned the shot in kayfabe.

I say I would really, really rather it not happen. To each their own but it would be an easily skipable couple months while Sting is champ.

Considering Rollins is looking more and more like the new choice to be the guy going forward, no, I don't think Sting should win.
I don't think it would be a travesty. I don't think it would ruin anyone, but I don't think it's at all necessary. It's incredibly clear that WWE does not feel that Sting has the drawing power that the fans think he does. He's a WCW commodity, and in their eyes, WCW is inferior to WWE, and therefore, Sting is not an important name to protect.
I would not rule it out, but it won't be a decision made to honor Sting, but rather, something to pop a quick rating now that NFL season is upon us.
Next week's Raw rating will probably go a long way in determining whether or not they give any consideration to putting the title on him. If him showing up and scheduling the match doesn't get more people to tune into Raw, you can probably forget about it.
While we're at it, on the subject of Sheamus cashing in, I'm 100% of the belief that he should be a martyr for the cause of making the briefcase seem unpredictable. Sheamus should not be anywhere near the singular World Championship. The fans don't give a crap about him.

I can see something screwy going down, like HHH getting involved and costing Sting the match. If they go that route, it will do Rollins more damage than good.

What? No. Sting doesn't even deserve this match to be frank. He lost to Triple H at Mania. Hell, they even shook hands after the match. Why the hell would they do that? No idea, because they're acting like that never happened. Sting is the last person who deserves a WWE title win. If he beat Triple H at Mania 31, then MAYBE. But now? Hell no.
Sting does NOT need to become WWE Champion.

Sting doesn't need to be wrestling at all anymore, let alone for any titles.

No thanks. Seth has looked like a complete scrub for his entire championship reign and a loss to Sting would just make things 10x worse. He's lost a lot of credibility and I don't think he's had a clean defence ever.
Sting is what, 56? He doesn't need to win.

He looks like a mega star with both those belts right now. Yeah he's needed "help" winning. Which heel didn't? Even HHH in 02/03 needed Evolution for all those title retains.

Yeah but Edge didn't have help from other people. Almost every match has involved interference from Kane, J&J or Jon Stewart. They are trying to build a new believable star in Rollins and losing to Sting would kill him.

First Lita, then Orton (ratedRKO) then Vickie and La Familia , etc he was just as big of a "help needing heel" as Seth has been man. Though I'll admit he could use a big time show stealing clean win like Edge had at Mania 22 over Foley

Sting doesn't deserve to win the championship. It's as simple as that.
