Its clear that the #1 wrestling toy line comes in the form of WWE Elite figures but will there ever be another product to knock the elite line off the map?? I remember when Jakks was #1 with the RA and Classic lines when Mattel slowly loomed in and took over. Its kinda hard looking back at the Jakks line now as fulfilling our wrestling figure needs with their almost cut n paste repetitious figure designs and off scale approach. Those days of having Rey Mysterio tower over Undertaker in the same line are behind us. The Mattel figures have their pros and cons as well but are overall top notch quality in comparison to anything else on the market. But there is no way I can imagine that somehow we will be looking back at this amazing line and consider it subpar to anything else. Does anyone else wonder of the possibilities from future wrestling figure lines and their potential to outshine Elites?

Sure. Someday But mattel has the license from wwe for 5 more years and after that they would still be the most likely option going forward I imagine. So it'll be a while. Maybe 3d printers will allow us to print out our own favorite likenesses and attires for our favorite superstars

It's hard to imagine that anybody who gets the contract after Mattel is going to be able to pump out better figures with the increasing costs of producing these things. I plan on collecting for the duration of this current contract (2019) but I'm already wondering what the cost of a Elite figure is going to be in 2017 or 2018.

there is also the possibility of another wrestling promotion obtaining a contract with anoher toy company which will give mattel a run for its money. Marvel toys had the opportunity to do just that with the TNA line they had a few years back. And good one Bartman.

I wish mattel would change their style of figures. I'm kind of bored of elite and basic figures now.

Does anyone else wonder of the possibilities from future wrestling figure lines and their potential to outshine Elites? Says who? You? For all you know Mattel will sever ties with Mattel and they'll go to someone who doesnt make figures to "scale". Is Mattel better than Jakks? You realize Mattel took a look at what Jakks was doing and then improved on it right? It's easy for a 2014 Chevy car to be better than a 2000 Ford. The 2014 model will have a USB port, gps, built in wifi, and heated seats where the 2000 will not have any of those.. It isnt because Chevy is better or Ford is better, it is just because the maker has added extras to try and improve the customers over all satisfaction. That just applies to anything in life. A new product will always seem nicer than an older product. Personally im not a fan of some issues I see Mattel has. I'll admit I love seeing the Von Erichs, Macho Man, and all the other guys Mattel has made that were not made into Jakks figures. That won't make me say Mattel is better than Jakks though. And really is it fair to compare the two? Mattel is the second largest toy manufacture in the world, second to Legos who just overtook them. Of course the bigger company will have many more resources at their disposal. One day a company will come along and out bid Mattel for the wwe license. Or mattel will cease to want to make wwe toys. That day there will be new figures. You'll forever be nostalgic when it comes to Mattel figures. And you'll see someone knock the figures you love so much just because the new figures will have some special new concept to them.

Not unless Play Arts Kai starts making wrestling figures. Even though their plastics are brittle.

I wish they could make a line which the wrestlers look more buff/muscular, yet maintaining the articulation and detail

I agree with you Milincoln King of the Road to a certain extent however, I always preferred Jakks BCA line over anything else they ever produced so Im not necessarily being biased. Its all a matter of preference but the fact is Jakks used a simplistic template to produce their designs in the RA line which made it possible for them to release a higher quantity in a shorter time period hence the vast amount of content we got out of them. In comparing Mattel to Jakks, its safe to say that Jakks is the subpar of the two. Doesn't necessarily make it an unfair statement.

I personally don't think it will. Even if another company/wrestling promotion produces a line of figs, it will pale in comparison to Mattel. Even when/after Mattel no longer produces WWE figs, I think it will be the best company to have ever produced WWE figs.

This one is a tough one to call because so much of this is subjective. The only thing I can speak on with Mattel being superior is the plastic the figure is made from. That is a qualitative statement. It is sturdier and has better color. Everything else is totally subjective. On the Mattel board, plenty of people are going to agree that Mattel is better, but if you jump on the Jakks board you'll hear a different tune.

Is Mattel better than Jakks? You pretty much answered your own question seconds later... You realize Mattel took a look at what Jakks was doing and then improved on it right? Improved on it, exactly. So that per definition means "made it better". Fun analogy, but to my knowledge Jakks are still making wrestling figures to this day and haven't followed Mattel in their 'improvements on their design', so they're pretty much in stagnant state and aren't doing all that much to improve their product. Therefore your argument simply isn't valid. And for the record, I like Jakks, if it wasn't for their failure to scale their figures I'd consider buying them still. But having an Undertaker being the same height as a Mysterio (or in TNA's case having Abyss being the same height as Angle, or whatever) is just absolutely silly. And it's not like Mattel are the only toy company who are capable of making their toys scale. Toybiz had scaling figures back in the day. The Gian was bigger than Hogan, Nash was bigger than Hogan, etc. It's hard to comprehend that after years and years Jakks still didn't improve on their arguably largest flaw in their lines. Personally im not a fan of some issues I see Mattel has. I'll admit I love seeing the Von Erichs, Macho Man, and all the other guys Mattel has made that were not made into Jakks figures. That won't make me say Mattel is better than Jakks though. I really like the elites, but I think that basics are simply horrible, their legs are posed in such an unnatural way and it's something I see as Mattel's major flaw and I find it difficult to understand why they just don't spread them a bit more and make the figures stand more natural. As a collector I'm a big fan of the Elite lan, but sometimes when posing certain figures I'm scared to break their leg joints in all honesty. And if I as a collector am afraid to do so, then what about a kid who's playing with it? So I fully agree that Mattel have their own issues. And there's definitely room for improvement. But I do think that the generation of 2010-... elites will hold up in 10 years. And really is it fair to compare the two? Mattel is the second largest toy manufacture in the world, second to Legos who just overtook them. Of course the bigger company will have many more resources at their disposal. Sure it is, Jakks had over a decade of experience with wrestling figures, plenty of time to improve their products. Simply scaling the figures would've done wonders I think and you're not going to tell me that woudl've cost them a fortune. If I'd have a kid and I'd buy figures for him/her, playability wise, I think Jakks are better and more durable. I love the elite line but as I've said... sometimes I feel that they're not made for kids.
