I felt it here in Baltimore County, Maryland. I was sitting on the couch in my living room playing Banjo-Kazooie on the N64 and at first I thought something went wrong with either the washer or dryer downstairs in the basement. I felt this rumbling through the floor and the couch gently swayed back and forth as if I were sitting in a rocking chair of some sort. I got up once the quake peaked a few seconds later and my entire house was shaking. Honestly? The first thing I was thinking, besides WTF is going on, is that I had retrieve any broken or fallen items in the house. A collector's plate that belongs to my mother fell from a stand and broke in three pieces and a few unused rolls of toilet paper fell out of the bathroom closet onto the floor lol, but no serious damage around here. I went outside immediately afterward and neighbors were standing in front of their houses talking over to one another. I don't recall ever experiencing an earthquake, or at least one that I was sure was an earthquake like this one, but that was a crazy 10-to-15 second period that literally came out of nowhere.

So how big [or small] was the earthquake?
Here I was thinking it was pretty bad at 3 pages but so far by reading the first couple of posts it seemed to be weak.

I live about 100 miles from the epicenter here in Virginia. 5.9 is the number for now, but they say it could change.
I work at a local high school and while I didn't feel the floor shaking, the metal doors in the front of the cafeteria were rattling loudly. I was due to get off about 10 minutes after the quake, and as I drove across town I saw a bunch of people standing outside their buildings.
Watching the local news, and the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. area is pretty much in gridlock as people are trying to get out of the city. They have shut down two nuclear plants that are with-in 10 or 15 miles of the epicenter.
They are also talking about the possibility of aftershocks, or whether this could be a precursor to something bigger.
Cell service is pretty much shot due to the high volume of calls. I've managed to get some texts out, but can't use the phone.
Some interesting s**t to say the least!!

I didn't feel anything. If you were just listening to the local news and not watching it you would think that Philly has been completely destroyed.

New Yorkers are a bunch of ing over exaggerating little girls. Mayor Bloomberg is holding a press conference? To say what? "Wow, that tiny bit of shaking was a lot to handle huh? Let's shut the city down for the next week and a half to figure out how to prevent this from happening again." Gimme a break.
