The May 8, 2007 edition of ECW was pretty good. I'm really getting that WWECW feel from reading these shows, which is a good thing. The opener was nothing spectacular. From the sound of it, it seems like Punk dominated, which is very good. Glad he picked up the win. Also, please move him up the card, NOW! The women's match was ok. Not a fan of the wrestling, but I guess it's ok. I don't really like anyone in that match, so I didn't care who really won. Would have rather had Layla win, though. The triple threat, on paper, seems like a really good match. However, the only problem is, Rob Van Dam is the odd ball in the match. He needs to be facing main eventers like Cor Von or Sabu. Glad he picked up the win, though. The main event was awesome, man. Great job writing. Glad it went to a no contest, and I'm looking toward the Cor Von and Punk match for the ECW Championship. Should be awesome. Nevertheless, keep this diary coming. It may be HOF bound.

(May 15th, 2007) Non-Title Match: Balls Mahoney vs. Marcus Cor Von (ECW Champion)The show kicked off with the ECW Champion in action against an ECW Original, Balls Mahoney. Cor Von looked dominant here as he hit Balls with a double underhook suplex about two minutes into the match. Balls retaliated with his trademark punches, but Cor Von ended them with a vicious clothesline. Cor Von hit the fallaway slam, and then signaled that the end was near. He set Balls up for the Pounce, and connected. He went for the cover, and easy got the three. Winner: Marcus Cor VonAfter the match, Cor Von picked up Balls and gave him another fallaway slam. He was going to set up for the Pounce, but Punk’s music hit as he came out. Punk charged at Cor Von, and they started firing away. Punk picked up Cor Von for the GTS, but Cor Von slipped out. He threw Punk at the ropes for the Pounce, but Punk stopped himself at the ropes. Cor Von charged at Punk, but Punk grabbed the ropes down, and Cor Von’s momentum sent over the top rope. Cor Von looked enraged, as Matt Striker came out. Striker said that Punk shouldn’t be getting involved in fighting because tonight, he would be in a big fight against Snitsky. Cor Von laughed as Punk looked content with Striker’s decision. Rebecca DiPietro was standing by with Elijah Burke. Rebecca asked Burke his thoughts about getting attacked by Marcus Cor Von two weeks ago. She asked it, and Burke said nothing. Rebecca then figured to ask about Burke’s thoughts on Judgment Day’s title match. Burke again said nothing, and he walked off. Rob Van Dam vs. The Sandman vs. Tommy DreamerThis was another triple threat match made for RVD courtesy of Matt Striker. The three certainly gave it their all, despite their mutual dislike for Striker. Sandman clotheslined RVD out of the ring, and then picked up Dreamer. Dreamer slid out of Sandman’s grasp, and hit Sandman with the Dreamer Driver. Dreamer went for the cover, but RVD interrupted the count. Sandman grabbed RVD, but got kicked in the face for it, which sent Sandman over the top rope. RVD turned around, and Dreamer picked him up for a Dreamer Driver. However, RVD reversed it into a victory roll to get the surprising three count. Winner: Rob Van DamDreamer didn’t looked pleased with himself that he lost via a mistake like that. However, he shook hands with RVD after the match, as did Sandman. RVD escaped again, and looks to be one step closer to a potential title shot. Backstage, Cody Rhodes, making his on-air debut, introduced himself to Stevie Richards. Richards says he has big shoes to fill. Cody Rhodes was then struck from behind by Kevin Thorn. Thorn then proceeded to sucker-punch Richards. Thorn then pounded on Richards, and then left the scene. Rhodes then attended to Richards after. The cameras shifted to another spot backstage, where Maryse went up to Kelly Kelly. Maryse says that Kelly keeps staring at her week after week. Kelly retaliated by saying that Maryse has been avoiding here. Maryse then said they can settle it in the ring next week. Smiling, Kelly said that she is looking forward to it. CM Punk vs. SnitskySnitsky used his strength to work on Punk for some of the match. Snitsky went for a big boot, but Punk ducked, and took down Snitsky by the legs. He brought Snitsky up, and planted him with a bulldog. Punk picked Snitsky up for the GTS, but Snitsky slipped off. Snitsky then kicked Punk and set up for the pump handle slam, but Punk slipped off, and then rolled Snitsky up. The referee counted, and Punk got the win. Winner: CM PunkAn enraged Snitsky clotheslined Punk as he was celebrating. This then prompted Marcus Cor Von to come out. Snitsky gave Punk a pump handle slam, and then left the ring for Cor Von to pick up the scraps. Cor Von just picked Punk up, ran to the ropes, and delivered a thunderous Pounce. Cor Von stood tall with his title over Punk to close the show.

It was pretty weird how you had Marcos Cor Von in the opening contest, at least he defeated Balls Mahoney. You need to be getting Cor Von back into those main event matches because otherwise the title will lose prestige by having the champion fight in openers. Guess it served as a hype-up for the main event, seemed like a credible threat. I'm confused at you having all three original faces in a three-way match, or is this another Striker-deed? Good RVD won anyways, the more talented man of this match. Good that Cody Rhodes made an on-screen debut. Hope you don't give him too big a push. Yeah I feel that the womens feud is growing boring tbh. Good main event liked Punk getting a fluke victory, good aftermath and happy that Cor Von was standing tall. Hope Cor Von retains but loses by DQ at Judgement Day.

The newest ECW was very well written, like always. Nice way to open the show with a squash match featuring the champ. It makes Cor Von look like a dominant force. Glad he picked up the win. The segment following the match was really good. Great details, I could almost picture it in my head. Snitsky/Punk sounds good. Hmm, all I can say about Burke's interview is that is was very interesting. I loved the triple threat matches, it seemed like the good ol' days of ECW. Could have gone either way, but I'm glad you gave RVD the victory. Liked the finish, but I feel RVD could have won with a Van Daminator or something besides a Victory Roll. Anyways, the Thorn and Richards feud seems interesting. Could be good, I'll have to see. The main event seemd ok, not that I was expecting a good match anyway. I'm glad you gave Punk the win, and the finish was good, much like the triple threat match. However, also like the triple threat, Punk should have won with something other than a roll up. Still a good match. I liked the ending, as it was adding more interest in the Punk/Cor Von feud. Overall, another great show from you Planet Charisma. This is one of my favorites on the board right now.

(May 20th, 2007) A video package was shown for the whole Cor Von/Punk feud that has been brewing over the past month. ECW Championship: CM Punk vs. Marcus Cor Von (ECW Champion)Out of eight matches, this was placed forth on the card. The crowd was pretty into it, as the majority of the people were rooting for Punk, although Cor Von had some fans. Punk went for a GTS early, but Cor Von slid out of it and gave him a Russian leg sweep. He then went from the sweep into an arm bar, to try to get Punk to tap out. Punk was able to get to the ropes, but Cor Von continued to work on Punk’s arm. Cor Von continued to dominate, until Punk got in a stiff kick to the head of Cor Von. Punk grabbed Cor Von, and planted him with a bulldog. Punk went for the cover, but only got a two count. Punk picked Cor Von up, but Cor Von raked him in the eyes, and gave him a double underhook suplex. Cor Von picked Punk up, and attempted a fallaway slam. However, Punk grabbed Cor Von’s head, and they fell down at the same time, and Punk locked in the Anaconda Vice. Punk had it locked in for about ten seconds, and it looked like Cor Von had no choice to tap out. Cor Von reached for the ropes, but couldn’t get there. However, Cor Von attempted to stand up while it was locked in. He was on his knees, and Punk still tried to lock it in. Cor Von stood up, and Punk was still hanging on. Cor Von ran to the turnbuckle, and ran his shoulder near the ropes, which caused Punk’s head to hit the top turnbuckle. Punk then staggered a little bit as Cor Von ran to the ropes and hit Punk with the Pounce. Cor Von was slow to the cover, as the referee counted to three. Winner: Marcus Cor Von (Still ECW Champion)Cor Von celebrated after the match with his title belt. Once Punk was up, he looked upset that he was not able to win the big one.

Good ECW match for Judgment Day, seemed like a good match here, Marcos Cor Von retaining the ECW Championship cleanly is good, which shows me he has more momentum. Hopefully CM Punk can try and win the ECW Championship another time, say having a rematch on ECW on Sci-Fi next Tuesday. I'm interested in who you have challenge Cor Von for the ECW title at One Night Stand too, maybe Sabu?

That match really made Cor Von look good, especially getting out of the AV and winning clean. Looking forward to where you go fron here.

(May 22nd, 2007) Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Thorn w/ArielThis was the debut match of Cody Rhodes, taking on Kevin Thorn, who has been on a losing streak. Rhodes looked anxious as he tried to pound on Thorn right away. Thorn then unleashed his anger with a vicious clothesline. Thorn took control of the match after that. Rhodes fought back near the end with a serious of dropkicks. Rhodes then planted Thorn with a neck breaker. Rhodes went to the top rope as he waited for Thorn to get up. However, Thorn ran into the ropes, and Rhodes lost his balance. Thorn just grabbed Rhodes’s head, and gave him the Original Sin. Thorn went for the cover, and finally got the victory. Winner: Kevin ThornThorn looked pleased with his win as Ariel stayed in the ring to celebrate with him. Rob Van Dam went into Matt Striker’s office backstage. RVD said that he has gone through five ECW Originals in the past three weeks. And RVD said that the next pay-per-view is ECW: One Night Stand in New York. He then went on to say how there is no better setting for him to get a title shot. Matt Striker said that RVD has been climbing up the ranks, but has one more ECW Original to defeat. Striker told RVD tonight that he would be an Extreme Rules match against his buddy, Sabu. After griming, Striker said that RVD needs to kick it up a notch. Balls Mahoney vs. Elijah BurkeIt seems as if Burke was almost expressionless while walking down to the ring for this match. Burke started beating on Balls from the start. Burke gave his version of the Stroke to Balls, but only got a two count. Burke picked Balls up, and Balls planted him with a belly-to-belly suplex. Balls picked Burke up, but Burke gave him an uppercut, and then a back body drop near the corner. Burke waited for Balls to get up, and then he gave him a huge Elijah Express. Burke then proceeded to pin Balls with ease. Winner: Elijah BurkeElijah Burke continued to have a serious look on his face as he walked to the back. The announcers were hoping Burke would speak on the collapse of the New Breed soon. Extreme Expose were shown talking backstage as they headed to the ring for the next match. Kelly Kelly w/Brooke & Layla vs. MaryseThis was Maryse’s third match against an Extreme Expose member, and she’s heading in 2-0. Maryse taunted Kelly as the bell rung, and got a slap in the face for it. They started having a catfight, with Joey Styles yelling as usual. Maryse then kneed Kelly in the face, sending her down. She then started to pull on Kelly’s hair until the referee broke it up. About two minutes later, Kelly went to Irish whip Maryse into the ropes. However, Maryse reversed it, and Kelly went to the ropes. Thinking it was Maryse, Brooke tripped Kelly. Kelly got up and wondered why Brooke did that Maryse then rolled Kelly up from behind, and got the three count. Winner: MaryseAfter the match, Maryse held up three fingers seeing as how she went 3-0 against Extreme Expose. Brooke and Kelly argued after the match, and Layla joined in on the argument. Rebecca DiPietro interviewed “Alpha Male” Marcus Cor Von backstage. Cor Von said that he did what he told everyone he would do, and that is defeating CM Punk at Judgment Day. He then proclaimed that the Alpha Male Era would continue. Cor Von said that anyone who continues to try to stop it will end up failing like CM Punk did. Just then, Punk interrupted Cor Von’s interview. Punk said that he did not fail; he just came up short. He then said that he respects Cor Von, and extends his hand. Cor Von shakes his head no, and says that instead of showing respect, he takes it. Cor Von then walked off as Punk started thinking. RVD and Sabu were shown separately warming up for their match. Extreme Rules: Rob Van Dam vs. SabuThis was a great contest that was hardcore from the start. They both started out with chairs in their hands. Sabu threw his at RVD, but RVD ducked and sent his right back at Sabu, and he connected. RVD wasted no time by giving Sabu the rolling thunder, and going for a quick pin attempt. RVD then rushed to the outside for a trash can and a lid. Sabu quickly grabbed the lid and starting hitting RVD with it. A fire extinguisher came into play, and then a couple kendo sticks and a table got into the ring courtesy of Sabu. RVD grabbed the kendo stick and hit Sabu over the head with it. He threw a chair to Sabu to attempt a Van Daminator, but Sabu threw the chair at RVD in mid-air, sending RVD crashing to the mat. Sabu then set up a table in the corner, turned around, and RVD hit him with a trash can. RVD positioned Sabu to be leaned against the table. RVD went to the opposite corner, ran, and did the rolling thunder. However, the end of the rolling thunder was in mid-air onto Sabu, and they crashed through the table. After being in pain for a short while, RVD climbed to an opposite turnbuckle. He attempted a really far Five-Star Frog Splash, and he connected. RVD was slow to the cover, but finally got there. The referee counted, and he got to three. Winner: Rob Van DamRVD celebrated after the match, signaling that he was going to become ECW Champion as the show ended.

The opening match of this week's ECW seemed good, glad that Kevin Thorn finally got his win, I love it. I was never the biggest fan of Cody Rhodes also. Good evil set-up for Rob Van Dam to get an opportunity at the ECW Championship. Elijah Burke beating Balls Mahoney is good, Balls was never the greatest guy in the ring without any weapons. Meh, vixens storyline is wearing out, hope Sylvan Grenier finally redebuts. Decent aftermath to the CM Punk/Marcos Cor Von feud. Finally, awesome pay-per-view worthy match, probably match of the month, great job on this show, RVD/Cor Von should be fun at One Night Stand.

Glad that Thorn finally got a win. Good RVD/Sabu match. Hope we see RVD vs Cor Von. I was a bit confused by the Punk segment. Interested to see where that goes.

The last ECW was great, like always. The opener, of course, wasn't anything special. It sounded like a decent match, I was hoping for a Rhodes come back. Not too happy that Thorn won, but he was due. Mahoney/Burke was decent. Not my favorite match, but still readable. Glad Burke picked up the victory. The Divas match was ok, but I'm not a big fan of WWE's women's division. I lol'd when you said Styles was yelling, for some reason I found it funny. Anyways, I was hoping Kelly Kelly would pick up the win, as I can't stand Maryse at all. The main event was amazing, the match of the night without a doubt. It reminded me of the old ECW days. I love all of the weapons used in the match, especially the singapore canes. Could have gone either way on that one, but I'm glad you went with Sabu. Overall, another excellent show, can't wait for the next one.

(May 29th, 2007) The announcers plug the upcoming ECW: One Night Stand pay-per-view this coming Sunday, as well as tonight’s main event of Marcus Cor Von vs. Sabu. The announcers reminded the fans that Matt Striker has banned RVD from ringside for the main event. Just then, Mick Foley comes out to a huge pop. Foley said that he participated in One Night Stand last year, and wants to again. He says that he is the Hardcore Legend, and is looking for someone to step up. After talking for about thirty seconds, Hardcore Holly comes out. Holly says that while Foley may be the Hardcore Legend, Hardcore Holly is the King of Hardcore. Foley says that they should put it to the test this Sunday. Holly agrees, and says he will leave a message for Foley. Holly then gives Mick an extremely stiff right hand to the face. Holly then says he will see Foley Sunday, as Foley looked pissed off. Sylvan Grenier w/Maryse vs. Tommy DreamerAccompanied by Maryse, Grenier made his ECW debut wearing a blue vest. Once the bell rang, Grenier presented himself with a cocky attitude. He took control of Dreamer early on, but Dreamer started fighting back. Grenier poked Dreamer in the eyes, and regained control. Grenier gave Dreamer a Russian leg sweep, but only got a two count. Grenier then climbed the top ropes and gave Dreamer a double axe handle to get another near fall. Grenier picked Dreamer up, but Dreamer reversed it by picking Grenier up. He then proceeded to give Grenier the Dreamer Driver, which prompted Maryse to go on the ropes. The referee tried to get Maryse off, and then Grenier gave Dreamer a low blow from behind. He then rolled Dreamer up as the referee turned around to count the three. Winner: Sylvan GrenierRebecca DiPietro was standing backstage with CM Punk. Punk says that at the last pay-per-view, he came up short. But at One Night Stand, he will not. Rebecca asked Punk who is opponent is, and Punk said he didn’t have one. Just then, Matt Striker came up to him. Striker said that Elijah Burke hasn’t been giving any answers, so maybe he will do his talking in the ring. Striker told Punk he would be facing Burke at One Night Stand. Punk looked content with Striker’s decision. Maryse and Sylvan Grenier were talking backstage. Maryse said that Kelly Kelly walked up to her earlier today and challenged her to a match at One Night Stand. Maryse then said not only that, but it was for an Extreme Rules match. She shrugged it off, saying how she beat Kelly Kelly before, and will do it again. Grenier then was bragging about his highly successful ECW debut. Just then, Kevin Thorn and Ariel walked up to the two. Thorn said how Grenier had an impressive debut, unlike Cody Rhodes. Thorn said that he is looking for a partner to face Cody Rhodes and Steven Richards at One Night Stand. Thorn then thinks that Grenier would be a good partner. Grenier thought about it, and Maryse told him it was a good way to gain exposure. Grenier then shook Thorn’s hand, saying he accepts his offer. Nunzio vs. SnitskyDue to size difference and time constraints, this match was kept extremely short. Nunzio tried to get in any offense, but Snitsky just destroyed him with a big boot. To add insult to injury, Snitsky gave him a pump handle slam to get the easy victory. Winner: SnitskyAfter the match, Snitsky got on the microphone saying “Pain is my pleasure”. Matt Striker’s music hit as he stood on the entrance ramp. Striker said that it is hard to find Snitsky some competition his size here on ECW. So, at One Night Stand, Striker said it will be the “Battle of the Giants” as one big man from Smackdown, as well as one from Raw would face Snitsky in a triple threat match at One Night Stand. Snitsky then grinned, showing his discolored teeth. Rob Van Dam had an emotional interview backstage. He said that last year at One Night Stand, winning the title at the Hammerstein Ballroom was the greatest achievement of his career. One year later, he said he is ready to do it again. He said that the Alpha Male Era is going to come to an end. RVD promised a title win, saying he wouldn’t let his faithful ECW fans down. Before the main event, the announcers ran down the matches already announced for One Night Stand. Non-Title Match: Marcus Cor Von (ECW Champion) vs. SabuThese two had fought a few weeks ago, which ended up in a no contest. Cor Von pounded away on Sabu for a few minutes, before Sabu started an ariel attack. Cor Von picked up Sabu for an Alpha Bomb, but in mid-air, Sabu landed down to give Cor Von a spinning DDT. Sabu went for the cover, but Cor Von kicked out. Sabu ran to the middle of the ropes and jumped off of them, which turned out similar to a lionsault. Sabu went for another pin attempt, but Cor Von kicked out just before three. Sabu then climbed to the top rope for a flying cross body, but Cor Von caught him. Cor Von then gave him a huge fallaway slam. Cor Von waited for Sabu to get up, and he ran to the ropes for a Pounce. However, Sabu moved out of the way, and Cor Von ended up giving the referee the Pounce. Cor Von looked to seize the opportunity as he went to the outside to grab a chair. He went to go use it on Sabu, but Sabu tripped Cor Von, and Cor Von’s head hit the chair. Cor Von got up, and Sabu threw the chair, and hit him in the skull. Just then, someone came from the crowd in the ring. It turned out to be Chris Masters! Masters grabbed Sabu and put him in the Master Lock. After having it in for thirty seconds, Masters left the ring, as Cor Von looked puzzled. Cor Von waited for Sabu to get up, ran to the ropes, and gave him the Pounce. The referee made the slow cover, and got to three. Winner: Marcus Cor VonThe announcers were wondering why Chris Masters attacked Sabu. RVD came out on the entrance ramp and stood down Cor Von. Styles and Tazz plugged One Night Stand one last time as the show went off the air.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Notes
ECW writers were visibly upset this week. Vince McMahon could not decide if he wanted One Night Stand to be an ECW pay-per-view or not due to the horrible buyrate for the December show. He decided late last week that it would be focused on ECW. This gave the writers one show to set up eight matches for the pay-per-view. Because of that, the TV show had to be focused on segments to build up to the matches. However, the writers felt that the show was executed pretty well.
No word yet on the outcome of Van Dam vs. Cor Von. One would figure that Cor Von would retain due to how he is built up, but they are playing it off like Van Dam will win.
Chris Masters has officially been added to the ECW.Com roster page.
Mick Foley will not be regularly wrestling for ECW as this is just a one-time thing for the brand.

ONS CARD:
PLEASE! Have Rob take the belt and have a REAL ECW again man! Cor Von as Champion is decent though and either way it goes, it will be a step in a right direction for the diary...good booking! Burke to finally beat the Punker? We shall see. Really like the Holly/Foley match. Adds something new and a fresh idea. The Tri-Brand Monster match should be fun, wonder who represent RAW & SD. Original 4 way will be fun and I hope Dreamer takes the match. Very different but interesting tag match you got there. Hopefully Stevie can pull a victory for the originals! Divas match...not expecting anything special here honestly.
Good solid card, expect another reply after its posted!

ECW is always a fun show to read (& book) based on it's got the most interesting roster to work with. One thing I don't like though is the insta placing the ECW Title on Cor Von, based on it having no build and really being more throwaway. However you've done a really good job both booking and writing. I'll only really comment on the last show in any detail though, I like Sylvan being brought in and the pairing with Maryse is nice as well, hope to see big things from Grenier. I'm hoping RVD wins the ECW Title and goes into a feud with Chris Masters, for some reason I really want that to happen, I don't really like that you made the PPV all ECW though as there is a lot of filler in there and it's screaming the D2D PPV. Really nothing much else to complain about, good booking, good writing and a pretty good diary overall. Keep it up.

Seemed like an interesting opening segment between Mick Foley and Hardcore Holly [though I'm not really happy with him only appearing now]. Glad that Sylvan Grenier made his official debut on the ECW brand, beating Dreamer gives him momentum but a little too much for my liking. Grenier and Thorn's segment I wasn't a good fan of either, considering that Thorn is usually a silent vampire. Snitsky squashing Nunzio did not really a lot for the upcoming ONS either. Wasn't a fan of Striker only now making the big man three-way for ONS. Cor Von and Sabu had a great match, Cor Von winning was predictable but that was a good match. ONS looks very filler, and matches like Elijah/Punk [who both weren't on ECW] and Hardcore/Foley should of been given more hype. Sabu and Masters shows how much Sabu is in the middle of nowhere. The vixens feud should be dead by now. As for the Originals match, take out Nunzio and Balls and you have a good match. Sorry man, but this is falling from being good.
