(April 24th, 2007) Elijah Burke vs. The SandmanSandman worked the match even though his finger did not fully heal. Sandman gained control and went for his flip from the top rope, but missed. Burke then gave Sandman a move that looked similar to the Stroke. Burke then set up Sandman for the Elijah Express, and then hit it. Burke got the easy three count after that devastating move. Winner: Elijah BurkeThe announcers plug Sabu vs. Snitsky in an Extreme Rules match for next week. They also say that Sabu will team up with Lashley tonight to take on Snitsky and "The Alpha Male" Marcus Cor Von. After the commercial break, Rob Van Dam makes his way to the ring. RVD says that he wants a title shot after Backlash. This then prompts CM Punk to come out. Punk says that he has been denied of an ECW title shot since he’s been here. RVD then told Punk that before Punk thinks about title matches, he has to think about what side he will come to. Punk retaliated by saying that he can take as long as he wants. This then prompted the general manager, Matt Striker to come out. Striker said that everyone is sick and tired of Punk making a decision that is not going anywhere. Striker said that Punk must make his decision by next week. Punk then stared at RVD, and then stared back at Striker who had a smirk on his face. Backstage, Extreme Expose was talking about whom would face Maryse later on, and then Maryse barged in. Maryse said that it doesn’t matter which Extreme Expoloser steps up to the plate. Kelly wanted to give it a shot, but Brooke insisted that she should be on the one who faces Maryse. Kevin Thorn w/Ariel vs. Tommy DreamerThis match was pretty even throughout. Thorn wanted to put Dreamer on the ropes for the Original Sin, but Dreamer wasn’t having any of it. Dreamer went for the Dreamer Driver, but Ariel got on the apron. Dreamer then pulled Ariel into the ring and set her up for the Dreamer Driver. Before he could hit it, Thorn hit him from behind. Thorn then picked up Dreamer for his modified version of the Razor’s Edge. However, Dreamer reversed it into a backslide pin for the surprise three count. Winner: Tommy DreamerAfter the match, Thorn could not believe that he had lost again as Ariel did not look pleased either. Rebecca stood backstage with the #1 contender, Bobby Lashley. Lashley said that his title was taken from him on a night where he had to wrestle two handicap matches. He said that Cor Von caught him out of nowhere. Before he could continue, Cor Von appeared on the interview set. Cor Von said that Lashley had the title on borrowed time before. He said that it was only a matter of time before the Alpha Male Era would begin. Lashley responded by saying that the Alpha Male Era would end at Backlash because Lashley would be getting back what’s rightfully his. Cor Von retaliated by saying that the only thing he would be getting is a Pounce. Cor Von then walked off and said “see you in the ring later”. Brooke w/Kelly Kelly & Layla vs. MaryseDue to not much experience from either diva, this match was kept short. Brooke tried a cross body from the middle rope, but Maryse ducked, causing Brooke to hit the mat. Maryse then set up Brooke for a DDT, and hit it. Maryse went for a cocky pin to pick up the win. Winner: MaryseMaryse looked proud of herself after the match as she stared down Extreme Expose, specifically at Kelly Kelly. CM Punk was sitting by himself backstage when Elijah Burke appeared. Burke said that he did not mean to distract CM Punk last week. But Burke wanted to remind Punk that he has a golden opportunity to join The New Breed. Punk said that just like everyone else, Burke can wait until next week. Punk then walked off. Bobby Lashley & Sabu vs. Marcus Cor Von (ECW Champion) & SnitskyThe announcers plugged Sabu vs. Snitsky in an Extreme Rules match for next week, as well as Cor Von vs. Lashley at Backlash. The heels took turns dominating Sabu for several minutes. Cor Von gave Sabu a powerbomb, but Sabu found a way to kick out. Snitsky came into the ring and missed a big boot, and then Sabu jumped up and gave Snitsky a neck breaker, sending both men down. Sabu was about to tag out, but Cor Von charged into the ring and prevented it from happening. This got Lashley in the ring as all hell broke loose between the four men. Lashley was even able to clothesline Snitsky out of the ring, which prompted Snitsky to pull Lashley onto the outside. Sabu gave Cor Von a DDT in the ring as Snitsky whipped Lashley into the ring post. Snitsky went on the apron, but Sabu knocked him off. Sabu turned around, and Cor Von set him up for the Pounce, and hit it. As this was happening, Lashley gave Snitsky a Spear on the outside. However, Cor Von went for the pin, and got the three count before Lashley could save Sabu. Winners: Marcus Cor Von & SnitskyAfter the match, Cor Von grabbed his title belt and invited Lashley to come into the ring. They stood face-to-face while Cor Von pointed at his title belt to close the show.

I hope Cor Von goes over at the PPV, and I wish Thorn was getting a push. Good to see Burke pick up a win though.

The opening contest sounded quite interesting, I hope you give Elijjah Burke some more momentum though, he is a phenomenal wrestler. Suprised yet happy that he defeated The Sandman, however. I hope you aren't rushing CM Punk vs. Rob Van Dam into Backlash, make it a Judgment Day match, it'd be very awesome much. Tommy Dreamer beating Kevin Thorn is fine, though I really wish you'd give Kevin Thorn a push before it's too late. Yeah, I wasn't expecting the womens match to be over-the-top long. Can't wait for Sylvain Grenier to recover. The main event tag team match was fine, though seeing Snitsky's name among the winners of the main event shocked me. Glad that Cor Von has the momentum going into Backlash.

(April 29, 2007) Rebecca DiPietro was backstage interviewing Bobby Lashley. Lashley said that he was robbed of the ECW Title a few weeks ago. He said that Cor Von did not beat him one-on-one, and that Cor Von cannot defeat him one-on-one period. In closing, Lashley said he was going to take back what is rightfully his. ECW Championship: Bobby Lashley vs. Marcus Cor Von (ECW Champion)This match was an interesting first-ever one-on-one meeting between the two. It had a big match feel to it as the two powerhouses went at it. Cor Von gave Lashley a powerbomb, but Lashley got up after two. Lashley tried to pick up Cor Von for the Dominator, but Cor Von flipped him over. After regaining momentum, Lashley hit a somewhat weak running slam to get a two count. Lashley attempted to give Cor Von a Spear, but Cor Von moved, causing Lashley to hit the ring post. Cor Von then hit the fallaway slam, and set up Lashley for the Pounce. He tried to throw Lashley into the ropes, but Lashley reversed it and then met Cor Von with a huge Spear. Lashley was going for the cover, but then “No Chance In Hell” hit, which caught Lashley’s attention. Lashley looked over to the entrance ramp, but nobody came down, and the music stopped. Lashley turned around, and Cor Von gave him a huge knee to the ribs. Cor Von shot Lashley into the ropes and gave him a Pounce. Cor Von went for the cover, and got the win to retain his title. Winner: Marcus Cor Von (Still ECW Champion)

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Notes
Although main ECW writer Dave Lagana has been a big fan of Cor Von for a long time, Vince McMahon has recently become a supporter as well. It was Vince’s idea to have Cor Von beat Lashley at Backlash.
Speaking of Lashley, he will now be on Raw full-time. The feeling that him putting Cor Von over would elevate Cor Von, and not hurt Lashley. Also, the Backlash match kept the feud ongoing between Lashley and McMahon that is expected to last for another couple months.
The reason Kevin Thorn has been losing weekly is because he was verbally upset about not getting a push for the last few months.
The WWE still has high hopes for Snitsky, although some are second guessing due to the lackluster crowd response.

The match seemed pretty decent, and I feel that it was built up pretty damn good. Glad that Marcos Cor Von managed to retain the ECW Championship too. Good that Cor Von has friends in WWE management. I hope you don't give Snitsky a serious push into becoming one of the higher upper-carders in WWE. I'd prefer Cor Von to feud with CM Punk next, if Lashley and him had a good match, think of how good Punk/Cor Von would be. Poor Kevin Thorn. But yeah, good work, liked that Lashley didn't lose a hell of a lot of momentum with his loss at Backlash. Good work, Planet Charisma.

(May 1st, 2007) Elijah Burke starts off ECW by coming to the ring by himself. He calls Punk to come out, and then Punk does. Burke tells him that he has to make a decision tonight, and that last night’s win by Marcus Cor Von should be more than enough evidence that the New Breed is where it’s at. Punk said that he still hasn’t decided what to do. Burke then asks what he can do to make Punk join the New Breed. Thinking, Punk said that he heard that world title shots were a way to get people to make decisions. Acting like a great idea came to him, Burke said that Punk could have a guaranteed ECW title match against Marcus Cor Von at Judgment Day. Punk said that the thought of that sounds good, and that he would see Burke later. He dropped the microphone, as Burke had a smile on his face. Kevin Thorn w/Ariel vs. Tommy DreamerThorn looked to have new aggression after losing to Dreamer last week. Thorn tried to whip Dreamer into the ropes, but Dreamer reversed it. Thinking Dreamer was going into the ropes, Ariel ended up tripping Thorn. Thorn then yelled at Ariel asking what she was doing. Thorn turned around and then Dreamer picked him up and planted him with the Dreamer Driver. Dreamer went for the cover, and got the win. Winner: Tommy DreamerThorn was furious with Ariel after the match as he stormed up the ramp without her. RVD walked into Matt Striker’s office lately. RVD wanted to know why Punk was getting a title shot out of the blue, and how RVD hasn’t gotten one in months. Striker then asked RVD what he has done lately. He said how RVD was WWE Champion…last year. Striker told RVD that he needs to prove himself to be a worthy contender again by beating ECW Originals. He then told RVD to head to the ring. Balls Mahoney vs. Rob Van DamBalls did his signature punches to send RVD down. Balls picked RVD up, but RVD gave him a stiff kick to the head. He then went to the ropes and hit the rolling thunder. RVD then went to the top rope and hit a humungous Five-Star Frog Splash to get the win. Winner: Rob Van DamLayla was looking in a mirror backstage as Maryse came by. Maryse stroked Layla’s hair as she said that Layla probably feels good about winning the diva search last year. Layla said it was an honor, as Maryse told her to shut it. Brooke appeared again, as Maryse asked her how her beating felt last week. Brooke said that next week she could teach Maryse a lesson this time. Layla interjected by saying she wanted a shot at Maryse next week for the first time. Maryse accepted, and then left before Kelly Kelly came. Extreme Rules: Sabu vs. SnitskyThis match has been built up for the last few weeks. Snitsky picked Sabu up, and hit him back first into the ring post on the outside. Snitsky put Sabu back in the ring, and got a table from underneath the ring, and brought it in. Snitsky put it in the ring, but Sabu met him with a chair shot to the face. Snitsky then gave Sabu a big boot to the chair, which sent Sabu down. Snitsky went for the cover, but Sabu barely kicked out after two. Snitsky set up the table, and picked Sabu up. He went to Chokeslam him through it, but Sabu reversed it mid-air into a DDT, which sent Snitsky through the table. Sabu put the chair on Snitsky’s face, and climbed to the top rope. He had a chair by his back, jumped off the top rope, and landed the chair onto the chair that was on Snitsky’s face. After thriving in pain, Sabu went for the cover, and pinned Snitsky for Snitsky’s first ECW one-on-one loss. Winner: Sabu ECW Champion, Marcus Cor Von came out with Elijah Burke. Burke said that it is time for CM Punk to come join the New Breed. Cor Von interjected by saying he didn’t appreciate Burke throwing around title matches. Burke said he’ll worry about it later, because it’s Punk’s time now. CM Punk then came out as he still had a pondered look on his face. Punk said that he has thought long and hard, which then prompted RVD to come out. RVD said that he is like the chosen one to be an ECW Original, and that joining the New Breed would be a sellout. Burke said the Original Has-beens aren’t worth Punk’s time. Punk said he wants to put all the bickering to rest, and he has made his decision. Punk said that he would be joining…………nobody! Punk said that he does not need anyone, and that he will make it to the top on his own. Punk said that he would see Cor Von next week as he left the ring. RVD looked content as he left, and Burke was irate. Burke said that the New Breed doesn’t need Punk. Cor Von grabbed the microphone saying that maybe The Alpha Male doesn’t need Elijah Burke. Burke tried to talk, but Cor Von kicked him. He whipped Burke into the ropes, and planted him with a huge Pounce. The crowd was confused who to cheer for, although Cor Von got some cheers. Cor Von stood tall as Punk looked on to end the show.

This diary is going really well so far, well done. Firstly I love that you gave the title to Cor Von great decision.
On ECW, good opening segment. I like Burke trying to convince Punk. Punk vs. Burke feud would be great in the future.
Not a fan of Thorn jobbing. He could be a big threat on ECW. Could see him getting rid of Ariel and becoming a big monster heel hopefully. Hope you don't release him or anything.
Surprised RVD isn't receiving a big push. Quite like that your holding him back with Striker not giving him a chance. Hope he starts a long feud with someone soon. Good win for RVD over Balls.
Not interested in the diva stuff at all. Maybe if it was like Mickie James and that who can wrestle but Layla, Maryse, Kelly, & Brooke are all horrible in the ring especially in 07 where none of them had hardly any training. Hopefully you end their little feud and make them all managers.
Good win for Sabu over Snitsky. Surprised you had him lose to Sabu just like that but I am glad you did. Not a fan of Snitsky at all and I hope you don't give him a push. If you really want a big monster then use Umaga, or bring in someone like Kozlov or something. Sounds like a good hardcore match.
I enjoyed the ending segment. Punk not joining either team was predictable and worked well. I would have liked to have seen Punk join the New Breed just so he can get a title shot and doing a long story about him being part of the group and then doing a big face turn at Judgment Day. Still good though but not too sure on breaking up Cor Von & Burke. Both are good by themselves but I thought they worked well together and could have continued a bit longer until possibly Burke turning on Cor Von and taking the ECW Title or something.
Overall really nicely written. Layout is fine and the booking is great. This is doing really well and I look forward to reading more. Again well done on a good diary so far.

I liked that CM Punk stayed neutral in that opening segment, it showed some good drama, there too. Kept the viewers/readers hanging on for which way he'd really go. Tommy Dreamer beating Kevin Thorn is fine, despite me cries once again to have a mini-push for the vampire. I'm confused as to why you booked Rob Van Dam against his own stable mate, Balls Mahoney since both of them are ECW originals. Oh wait, now I see why with Matt Striker as GM. Blah, womens involvement is a little tiring now, where's Sylvan when you need him. Sabu beating Snitsky seemed like the right match to have to end the wrestling part of ECW on Sci-Fi. Great end segment, glad that CM Punk remained neutral and a face Marcus Cor Von is interesting. I hope you enforce Elijah Burke with a bodyguard, though as it seems like Cor Von could batter Burke easily.

I really enjoy this diary. I have always been a fan of the ECW brand, original and recent. I think you have really pulled it off. I love the fact that Marcus Cor Von is the ECW Champion. I always thought he should have gone further. I am also pleased that you are using Snitsky pretty well, it seems that everyone looks down on him, whereas I don't think he is that bad. The build up to the Backlash ECW Championship Match was great. Too bad there was only one ECW match, although that is pretty realistic for the time. The detail in your shows is great and I look forward to reading more. You have a reader out of me. Well done.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Notes
The call was made over the weekend to disband The New Breed altogether. The main reason was that the WWE wants Marcus Cor Von to be his own star. They felt that Elijah Burke was not letting Cor Von show personality by doing all the interviews for him. While creative is not against putting the two back together in the future, it looks like they may want Cor Von to be on his own for a while. The plan is to put him as a tweener for the time being, seeing how the crowd reacts to him.
The third One Night Stand pay-per-view is set to take place on June 3rd. Right now it looks as if Rob Van Dam will be getting the title shot in New York. Due to the poor buyrate for December to Dismember, I am getting the indication that more stars from Raw and Smackdown will be used. But, the pay-per-view will still be themed around ECW.
Sylvan Grenier's ECW debut is being held off a few weeks. The WWE feels that if Maryse's character expands, then it will put Grenier over more once he makes his return.
Although he lost to Sabu, Snitsky's push is not down the drain. But, the WWE does not want to make him look unstoppable.

Glad Cor Von went over Lashley. I think its a good idea to disband the New Breed, since I never really felt they went together well anyway. Good to see RVD entering the title picture, and Im interested to see where you take Cor Von's character now. I hope he stays a heel.

WOW! Newcome of the year! Nice ending, interesting as Cor Von pounced Burke, future turn? Hmm, Sabu wins, nice. Punk gets the shot at the ECW Title! Matt Styker/R.V.D segment was good, R.V.D wins over Balls was good, opening seg was great. I loved this ECW.

(May 8th, 2007) CM Punk vs. Kevin Thorn w/ArielThe show kicked off with the #1 contender taking on Kevin Thorn, who has been in a major slump lately. Punk went for the GTS late in the match, but Thorn wiggled out of it and hit a neck breaker to get a two count. Thorn picked up Punk for a move similar to the Michinoku Driver, but only got a two count out of it. Thorn then got Punk up, only to be drilled in the face via Punk’s knee. Punk set up Thorn for the GTS, and hit it. Ariel just shook her head and started to leave ringside, knowing Thorn’s fate. Punk went for the cover and got the three count. Winner: CM PunkAs Thorn got up, he looked extremely pissed off as he rushed to the back. He could not believe that he lost another match. Meanwhile, CM Punk got on the microphone and said that in less than two weeks at Judgment Day, he would taste gold for the first time in his WWE career. Before he continued talking, Marcus Cor Von appeared on the titan tron. Cor Von said that he is now his own man as the Alpha Male Era continues on. He then explained that he cannot be stopped by any other male. Cor Von said that he will take care of Sabu tonight, and then send CM Punk back to Pepsi Land after he beats him at Judgment Day. The titan tron then faded as Punk had a smirk on his face. Layla w/Brooke & Kelly Kelly vs. MaryseMaryse continued to look better, while Layla was struggling a little bit due to not having had an on-air match for a few months. Layla slammed Maryse, but then missed an elbow drop. Maryse took advantage by giving Layla a DDT. Maryse showboated, then went for the cover, and still picked up the victory. Winner: MaryseMaryse looked proud of herself after the match, and once again went out of her way to stare at Kelly Kelly. Backstage, Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman went to CM Punk. Dreamer said the veterans in the back respected Punk’s decision. Dreamer said he is proud of Punk for being his own man, and not selling out. As a sign of respect, they shake hands. Before leaving, Dreamer wished Punk good luck in his Judgment Day match. Nunzio vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Stevie RichardsMatt Striker made RVD wrestle another match against ECW Originals, this time in a triple threat match. Richards gave RVD a super kick, which sent RVD down. Richards turned around and Nunzio gave him a spinning DDT. With RVD down, Nunzio went for the cover on Richards, and almost got a three count. RVD got up and kicked Nunzio in the face before applying the rolling thunder to Richards. RVD then went to the top rope and gave Nunzio a Five-Star Frog Splash to get the win. Winner: Rob Van DamAfter the commercial break, a tired RVD walked past Matt Striker. Striker gave him a thumbs up, and told RVD that he hopes RVD found triple matches fun. He proceeded to tell RVD that he would face his two buddies The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer in a triple threat match next week. RVD looked annoyed as Striker left him with a smile on his face. Balls Mahoney vs. SnitskyThis match was a filler used to bounce Snitsky back after a loss last week. An enraged Snitsky gave Balls a big boot, which knocked him out cold. Snitsky went for the cover, and picked up an easy win. Winner: SnitskyCM Punk was shown sitting down backstage to watch the next match on a monitor. Non-Title Match: Marcus Cor Von (ECW Champion) vs. SabuThis was the first one-on-one match between the two in the WWE. Cor Von took control for a good portion of the match by working on Sabu’s leg. Cor Von gave Sabu an Alpha Bomb, which was the first one he performed in the WWE. He went for the cover, but Sabu got out of it. Cor Von picked Sabu up, but Sabu countered with a jawbreaker, as both men were down. They made it to their feet and exchanged blows. Cor Von kicked Sabu, picked him up, and gave him the fallaway slam. Cor Von was going to set Sabu up for the Pounce, but Sabu elbowed him in the face. Cor Von then gave Sabu a hard clothesline, sending him to the outside. The two starting battling on the outside, as the referee began to count. Cor Von Irish whipped Sabu into the ring post. Cor Von continued to beat on Sabu, until Sabu got up. The two continued to exchange blows, as the referee counted to ten, and the match ended. Winner: No ContestSabu looked up at the referee once the bell rang, which allowed Cor Von to sucker punch him. Cor Von then grabbed a chair, and hit Sabu across the back with it. He then picked it up, and hit Sabu again. Cor Von then brought Sabu into the ring. He got Sabu up, who stood there staggering. Just then, CM Punk’s music hit. Even though Punk was on his way out, Cor Von quickly ran to the ropes and gave Sabu a Pounce. Just as Punk got into the ring, Cor Von went out of the ring. He grabbed his title belt, and headed up the entrance ramp. He held up his title belt as Punk looked on to end the show.

Good opening contest for ECW on Sci-Fi having CM Punk once again win by defeating Kevin Thorn [too underrated]. Interesting that Thorn ran off, maybe this could lead to a push? Good Punk segment. Maryse beating Layla could of gone either way imo, both of them are dirt to me. Where's damn Sylvan~! Rob Van Dam beating his ECW Original comrades is a continuation in the ECW version of Austin/McMahon, which is a good idea, not a bad one. Snitsky getting a push isn't what I am really enjoying, but oh well. Liked that the match between Cor Von and Sabu going to a draw and that Cor Von is a neutral performer. Where did Elijah Burke go?

Nice opening contest. I like Kevin Thorn's losing reaction, I can see him doing that. The CM Punk/Marcus Cor Von segments was good. Divas match was meh, couldn't care less if I was honest with you. ECW and divas don't mix. Liked the Originals segment and that RVD goes over Stevie Richards and Nunzio, although wouldn't have minded an upset win from Nunzio, lol. Nice match for the next week, can't wait to read that. Snitsky over Balls mahoney, as you said, filler match, but glad Snitsky got a win. Like the Main Event and the fact that it ended in a No Contest. Nice ending segment to finish of ECW. Overall, nice job, keep it up.

Sorry for taking so long to reply been a bit busy.
Good opening match. Glad Punk won but poor Thorn. Hopefully breaking him and Ariel up leads to something good for him. Good segment afterwards, I cant wait for Cor Von vs. Punk.
Still not a fan of seeing the divas but good win for Maryse. Hopefully Sylvan comes in quickly so she can start managing him. Then maybe put the other three on some other guy. I could see them managing someone like Miz or Morrison that think they are chick magnets.
Enjoying this feud between Striker & RVD. Him facing Originals is quite good and it gives him some nice wins. Look forward to the triple threat next month. I could see the Originals fighting back against Striker afterwards though.
An ok squash I guess. Still don't like Snitsky but at the end of the day its your choice to push him. Hopefully you do something with him soon to get me a bit more interested in him.
Main Event sounded good and I liked it ending in a draw to keep both men strong. I could see Sabu going after the ECW Title in a while after Punk is done which could be quite good. I liked Cor Von hitting the Pounce on Sabu after the match with Punk unable to catch him in time.
Overall good show. Some little decisions I am not a fan of like divas and Snitsky but the rest is all going great. However where was Elijah Burke this week? I expected him to be out for revenge against Cor Von. Hopefully he shows up next week or at least at Judgment Day.

Elijah Burke was kept off of TV this week to sell last week's happenings. However, he should be back on soon.
Sylvan Grenier is expected to debut sometime this month. After Maryse faces Kelly Kelly, she will be out of faces to go against.
Besides Grenier, writers may want another fresh face on ECW at some point.
It is said that Snitsky's big push is likely done. However, he won't be jobbed out as there needs to be some consistent heels.
