Invincible. Exiles. Marvel Team-Up. The Ultimates II. Just a handful I'd recommend thoroughly. Now would I have to go and get a bunch of back issues for them, or can I just pick up the next issue and be set?

Now would I have to go and get a bunch of back issues for them, or can I just pick up the next issue and be set? Team up is three issues in (4 is out now)... and a new story starts every issue or two but there is also a long running story line in each arc. You don't have to buy every issue for it but you'll know a little more about the arc story if you want to.

Now would I have to go and get a bunch of back issues for them, or can I just pick up the next issue and be set? Team-Up is definitely a book you can pick up and follow along. The cast changes every issue, so they can't have too many dangling plot lines. I only started reading Invincible at #18, which was a stand-alone issue, and #19 came out yesterday. Very easy to get into. Exiles is also starting a new storyline coming up next month, which ties into the Age of Apocalypse storyline from March. There's a major storyline set to be concluded in May or June, but it's not so major that some simple explanations by the fine folks here at wfigs couldn't catch you up. Ultimates II is on it's second issue right now. I'd probably recommend picking up #1 and #2 if you were going to start reading it. But you don't have to have read the first series of The Ultimates to understand the second one.

Final issue of Ghostbusters Legion comes out tomorrow, I can't wait for that. I have pretty much stopped reading all comics, just because of the lack of good storytelling. Ultimate Spider-Man's endless crossovers with little sense, Batman's countless 60 part arc, and 12 titles a week featuring Spider-Man or Wolverine on the cover are just ruining it. The only comics I really enjoy now are She-Hulk due to my friend's high reccomendation, and the "supposed to be monthly but for some reason it's quarterly" Ghostbusters comics. Are there any titles currently running that have decent, original storylines, with at least passable, non-painted art? I enjoy Fantastic Four as well, but the store here is always sold out, I guess that's a sign. The Walking Dead is ana amzing book. It has zombies, but they really arent the focus of the story at all. And even though its into the story, they never go TOO far so that a new reader is lost. But that's a good one to look into. Ultimates is only good because its rare to see a writer make the good guys utter bungholes. I LOVE the book because I HATE the Ultimates. I read every issue cheering for the bad guys to humble them. That is very rare in a book. I totally get your burned feeling. I am a Batman devotee, and I stopped reading any bat books-save Birds of Prey-because I didnt want to follow 14 issue arcs anymore. And USM is just TOO full of people anymore. I'd like to see him deal with a villain alone sometime again. I kinda tuned out with Ultimate Carnage, and it hasnt gotten back on track since. Glad some stuff is ending over at Marvel. SM is too exposed, its good to bring one title to a close. I dont get why they're making ANOTHER new symbiote story-this isnt the early 90's anymore. And WHY are they doing another Ultimate title? Iron Man? STOP, MARVEL! The whole point of the UltiU was too unclutter everything so new readers could kinda ease into this universe. But now its just as full as the regular one-why even bother anymore. USM was cool, then UX, then Ultimates...Team-UP messed it up by making pointess additions like Elektra, Man-Thing, Punisher (how long until THAT Ulimate title is done?) Iron Fist, etc. We didnt need Ultimate Daredevil. We really didnt need Ultimate FF, either. UtliU seems more like a place where writers go to do whatever they want without having to deal with the repercussions in the real Marvel U, not a place thats done with new/younger readers in mind.

Toxin is actually an interesting character... they tried to turn Venom into what he is but that didn;t make sense, with Toxin it does.

I am reallly looking forward to it. I haven't been impressed enought with Morrison's stuff to start buying a long running series on his name alone. None of the characters interest me. Of course, if it ends up getting praised across the boards, I'll be sure to pick up the trades.

Is that The Most Dangerous Game Part 2? I think thats the latest but I dropped that book after the last arc. Bad move. The Most Dangerous Game is pretty good, due mostly to the fact that the characters it stars (Colossus, Dazzler, Angel, Nightcrawler, Mojo, Arcade & Longshot) are very different from their 616 counterparts, which is what makes the Ultimate Universe fun to read. Brian K. Vaughn has been pretty hit and miss on his run, but this is definitely a hit. Of course, his next arc will probably be alot like the crap that was the Gambit/Rogue arc. Buy the trade. I'll let you know which arcs he does are good.

Psylocke died fighting a guy named Vargas in Spain in I think issue #4 of Xtreme X-Men. At the same time, Beats was mortally wounded which necessitated Sage jumpstarting his secondary mutation. Then there was something where Bishop talked to her spirirt or something thanks to his ancestor gateway. Nothing much has been said about Betsy since she died, though.

Meh, she came back in issue 454 of Uncanny... What other popular Mutants died in the last two years that are important in the X-Men Universe? BSRMagneto, or more accurately, the guy who was posing as Magneto posing as Xorn, affectionately referred to as Xorneto. Phoenix died not too long back. Skin and a few others were crucified on the mansion's front lawn. I believe Maggot was killed in Weapon X, but I don't read that so I don't know for sure (although since you asked for popular mutants, it's kind of a moot point anyway ).

BSRJust a little warning my friend, try and put the stuff thats just happened in white for a week or two just for the people who only get them every few weeks or so. Anyone else read Marvel Team Up #5? Man I love this comic... same problem as #4 though, with it being all over. I love that its all over but people picking it up for the team up on the cover would be disapointed.
