Watched Saw I last night, went into the other room with my mate half way into it though.

I went to the Weekend of Horrors last weekend in Burbank to promote our movie, it was a bust for the most part though. A few horror celebs were there, and we talked to some cool people, but overall it was dead, very few new horror films were being promoted, mainly just rereleases of old stuff were being promoted, the whole thing felt very downtrodden. That was all last weekend.
This weekend is the premiere of our film The Black Box, getting psyched for that, should be a fun weekend.
Since I've been gone, watched these horror/genre movies:
Trick R Treat- Checked it out on Blu Ray for the first time, looks/sounds awesome, just a great anthology film, quickly becoming a classic in my book.
Madman - I always watched Madman with all the other early 80's slashers pretty close together, but watching it last week, man is the first half of that movie slow. Seriously, they waste 45 minutes of that movie on useless plot, the last 45 are the only minutes that really matter. Cool movie nonetheless, some awesome kills, but I found it strange I never noticed how slow the first half was before.
Doomsday - Really just a mash-up of like 25 different movies, but that's what makes it a blast. Not a great movie by any means, but mountains of fun, Rhona Mitra's ass artfully framed the entire movie, and Bob Hoskins hamming it up. Great stuff, tons of really awesome gore.
Predators - Had bottom barrel expectations for this, but it was, like Doomsday, fun, without being a great movie. Yeah, it's basically a rehash of Predator with more Predators, and a different class of soldiers, on a new planet. Liked all the cool Predator stuff, wish they had spent more time with the Predators, but they didn't, so I'm over it. Nimrod Antal's overall bland style shines through in more than a few places, but the quick pace keeps it moving. In a word, enjoyable.
Super Mario Brothers - Not a horror film per se, but it kind of was in 1994 if you were a kid that loved Super Mario Bros. Tons of awesome make up, tons of bad dialogue, really hammy acting from both Leguizamo and Hoskins, and especially Hopper, the king of the hams. Still a ton of fun, especially with 16 years of perspective.

Will be finishing off my Saw marathon with part 6 tonight.

No problem. I get this on every forum I go on. Me, not being all that old, was not around when all of the original A Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, etc. films were released. I also don't really like old films as they just seem really outdated to me. So, I usually find myself enjoying the remakes more than the originals. I just didn't have a problem with anything that happened in the remake. I thought the acting was solid (by most), the plot was fine and the film was just generally, a modernized version of the original (which I do still like), which I was very welcome too. Jackie Earle Hayley was great and, being a gore hound, I enjoyed the OTT blood and gore. Sure, you can shoot me down on it, but it's just my personal opinion, which I am entitled to have. I know the film was massively criticized, but I enjoyed it and felt I got my moneys worth seeing it in the cinema, and purchasing the Blu-Ray. Hell, that's what films for, right? |

Just finished watching Trick R Treat again.
Wow, such an amazing movie. The only other time I've watched it was in the summer and it was kinda like watching "It's a Wonderful Life" in April. Sure, it's still a great movie, but you lose a lot of the effect. I loved picking up a lot of the stuff I missed the first time around that really tied all of the stories together. Overall, one of my favorite Halloween themed movies and a new Halloween tradition for me. I may watch it again with my wife on Sunday.

couldnt agree more about trick r treat, Sam Hain! just the perfect halloween movie.
so what is everyone dressing up as for halloween? anyone have any cool plans? Im going to the Chiller horror convention on saturday then to an old church that was turned into a club at night in costume. Im going as Radu from subspecies. Halloween im going to see saw, then watching the original Halloween then ending the night with The Walking Dead!
so what is everyone else up to?

I'm going as a homeless guy, I've got a panhandling sign that says "will suck for a buck." Hahaha. I'm going to a halloween party in the middle of no where Saturday, I'll probably catch the new Saw movie on Sunday.

Watched the first Saw tonight. Such a brilliant film. Just truly, wonderful. Now, due to not starting my marathon until late, I'm moving on to IV, V and VI.
