Here's where things are at as far as trying to buy new sets at retail in my neck of the woods. I hope others can chime in and share what's going on in their area, I'd love to know.
Over the past month, a handful of my Target's have dropped the AEW line completely. The stores that still do carry the line are filled with Unrivaled 9, and as of today a new stock of series 8, both sets that are from 2022. Unmatched has been a hit or miss. Some stores are still stuck with Jade, Red Velvet and an over saturation of series 7. New stock isn't consistent, we take one step forward with a new set and bam, old cases somehow are still floating around and clog the pegs.
I know a few months ago there was a third party company that was supposed to remove old stock and fill the shelves with new product. That happened in some stores but now we are in the same situation again because somehow these old sets are still resurfacing again. It's just too frustrating to me. I may have to do it like old times and preorder from Ringside. Today I wasted gas and time only to find Unrivaled 8 clogging the pegs again... me thinking I'd go in and find series 14, ha. Ugh.

I think most smaller Targets near me dropped the line completely, but I'm around a couple stores that just don't sell wrestling figures at all anymore, so that could be the real reason they're gone. Since last year, I can remember seeing Unrivaled 12-13 and Unmatched 7 & 8 at both Target and Walmart. The sets right before those (Unrivaled 11 & Unmatched 6) I don't believe I ever actually saw at retail, but I was still preordering everything back then and didn't worry about finding them as much.
I'll say I've seen places re-stock the latest sets multiple times except for Unrivaled 14 so far, and I've pointed out in other threads that the Walmart exclusives have been warming for quite some time outside of the Supremes. I found some of Unrivaled 14, but haven't seen it re-stock and just decided to grab the others I wanted from Ringside. I think moving forward I'd just grab what I can when sets start showing up, and fill in the gaps from Ringside.

This line has imploded and we probably will never seen any aknowledgement or accountability and I assume it'll all just end eventually with an announcement that the regular lines are done and retail is no longer on the table for AEW figures.

Jazwares needs to hire a hype team. They have fallen back into the late 90's/00's toy selling style and that model does not work in 2024. Amazon has bread JG Wentworth style collectors. Their our toys and we want them NOW!!!

I spoke to several target employees and line has been salvaged at most if they donβt have the tags that location salvaged them
Only 2-3 targets near me carry them now

Just buy from Ringside. Relying on retail for figures in 2024 is just not the right approach imo for either line. The days of TRU are long, long, long, long gone.

I often see many collectors saying their stores were flooded with the Red Velvet wave. I have NEVER seen that set at retail here in Chicago.
All I still see is Nyla Rose (which was supposed to be "sent back" or whatever) and that Thunder Rosa in yellow. It's embarrassing.

My Walmarts are stuck on the Kingston/Jericho of course and some Nyla Rose and Hangman. Targets are mostly Riho, Brian Cage, and Thunder Rosa. I saw Keith Lee and Max Caster at one store and bought Max. Iβve since seen none of the wave at Target, but found the set minus Billy and Swerve at a local discount store already.

Omg this line has turned into such a disaster. Nyla and Britt peg warm and the newest series isn't hitting target or Walmart but is in discount stores. How can there distribution be this bad. You can't tell me that they care about this line.

I am now in the "They need a new toy company" camp. Imagine if Hasbro picked up the AEW license.

Marvel Legends and GI Joe have some of the best distribution in the game.

Stay or go, I highly doubt any move would be seen as a positive regardless

Marvel Legends and GI Joe have some of the best distribution in the game. Online maybe. In store can be a different beast if its not Target exclusive. (Those hit like clockwork) I guess I'm lucky Unmatched 8 and Supreme Punk hit my stores this year. POOR-ly Cuyler Great pickups!

If the AEW and Jazwares relationship ended, no major manufacturer would sniff AEW at this point. Not even Todd and McFarlane (which I would actually like to see). AEW is just too cold.

My local Taregts will stock AEW figures a couple times a month and when they do they are gone within a day. They never sit on shelves. Only Hager and Nyla Rose. AEW is down but I still think the figures are hot. Overall the product is good. I think Jazwares makes some really cool stuff, I guess AEW is probably lucky to be with them right now.

The major retailers in the UK don't stock any AEW anymore, so it is online only through independent shops for us. It's a shame really as I used to enjoy picking up stuff on sale in Smyths.
For the large part, we are miles behind the US and elsewhere now. The Unmatched (I think) wave with Danielson and Omega in the street clothes never really hit here. Some websites have had minor stock of a few of them come in this week, but that's about it.
Also, the Vault being US only really sucks.
I wouldn't be heartbroken if Jazwares lost the licence. They've made some great figures, particularly in the Supreme line, but there's just so much about the way they've gone about it that I don't understand. The chases and rares, some of the attire choices, the distribution, the lack of communication, the inconsistent release schedules, the staining issues/unwillingness to leave soft goods off in the package, the changing of the lineups, etc. I could go on.
I really hope they turn it around, but I have very little faith at this point.

So hard to get because everyone is wanting them. We really do get a rough deal on the aew line.
