Into the depths of hell known as Walmart?
Look guys go ahead and preorder!!
Oops nvm CANCELLED!!! tee hee
As far as I'm concerned, Mattel is giving us the big bird and not giving no fs, because Walmart paid them already.
A MAJOR part of my purchase next year is 80% locked behind MORONS.
RVD/Brock ordered, immediately cancelled.
Eddie/edge ordered months ago. Cancelled today as well.

Unfortunately Walmart is their customer. That’s where Mattel made their money. Now whatever Walmart does or doesn’t do with the product is entirely up to them. And like I said in the ML thread I am done with Walmart online services. Since Decade of Domination Series 1 they have canceled at least 19 of 20 preorders, about 100 different store pickup orders (McFarlane Gold Label figures) , and finally this past week I ordered an in stock item which they took the money for last Thursday and then canceled my order yesterday. They suck.

At the end of the day, this paints a BAD picture for Mattel and the wwe license. But Mattel and Walmart have no got damn problem shoving barbie crap into my face. Both are at fault here.

Unfortunately it doesn't. The enfranchised collectors that get upset about this (myself included) make up a fraction of a fraction of a percentage of their revenue. Mattel is still securing sales, and Walmart is still getting the store exclusive product they want to keep up with the Joneses at Target and Amazon. We're a small, vocal minority who (mostly) keep buying the product either way. I hope it gets fixed. But perspective is important.

Then they listened to Nash and got a clue. Walmart is regressing something fierce.

No it’s a Walmart problem. Because it’s not just WWE. Like I said above since Decade of Domination Series 1 WalMart has canceled at least 19 of 20 of my preorders. And they were for Mattel WWE, Jazwares AEW, McFarlane DC WM Exclusive, SW and ML. And with all those I have done multiple (at least 100) in store pickup orders where the WM App showed it as in stock. All canceled. And gen this past week I ordered an In-stock WM exclusive ML Ronin which they took the money for Thursday and then canceled the order yesterday. That’s all entirely on Walmart. Their online service can’t fulfill preorders, in store pickup or in stock purchases. That is all on WalMart.

No, they will never stop giving to Walmart, I get that, but Steve will continue to have to hear the bs from us.

But there’s nothing Mattel can do, because like you said they’re not going to stop offering to WalMart. But they’ll only ship the inventory to cover what Walmart ordered/purchased. So unless Walmart orders greater volume or gets someone to run their online services and inventory properly we’ll continue to have to deal with this.

As an international customer I have no choice but to rely on Walmart and Target pre orders for these exclusives and at this point Walmart has been so terrible I've pretty much given up on collecting every ultimate figure and anything else Walmart dangles in our faces. Having people find stuff in stores while the people who pre order ages ago have thier stuff canceled is a slap in the face.

It's something so simple, that's what makes it more frustrating. Mattel can negotiate, IN STORE exclusives. And sell the said exclusives on their Mattel creations website to handle and foresee online only orders. Win win for everyone. Walmart gets their foot traffic, Mattel appeases their collectors. The product still would be exclusive to Walmart, you won't be able to order it on target.com or walk into target and buy it. Both parties are satisfied this way, and I'm not sure why it isn't like this, and is with other toy companies, Hasbro for example offering exclusives to specific stores, while also offering them on Hasbro pulse. You cannot tell me this cannot be done. At least until Walmart fixes their issues, then can migrate back to walmart.com orders.

And like with a previous post, it should be available online only on Mattel creations to help with that.

Steve has been very clear that he's doing what he can to improve the situation for collectors. But if you think Mattel is going to go to their biggest account and start making demands so some middle aged dudes don't cry on an internet forum, you're way off base. Walmart holds all the cards, and every indication is that they simply don't care.

I think the better question is why does Walmart like throwing their product away? From my understanding, all these products are ready to be put out on the shelves or shipped to customers (depending how you order), so why aren't they? That's the part that makes no sense to me. I'm assuming Walmart has paid for the goods and have access to the goods but choose not to resell the goods.

Exactly, what's the point of paying someone to code up new preorders for the website if it doesn't even work? Fire that guy 😂

Don’t order/purchase from them then.
Sure it sucks, but that ink is already dried and both are making their money.

If the whole point of the partnerships is to drive foot traffic to brick and mortar stores in hopes of increasing spend among figure collectors, I tend to go to Target more since their inventory system is more reliable and if something is out of stock, you usually can order it with free shipping with a RedCard.
It seems stupid to pay for Walmart+ when ordering online is unreliable and their inventory never works when you search in-stock stores for items. If anything all Mattel exclusives have done is make me even more likely to shop at Target, whatever that's worth. Something as dumb as buying a window fan ends up the same way where the Walmart store has nothing, the app isn't reliable for finding stores that have them in stock, and I give up and just pay a few extra bucks at Target where I can locate exactly what store has the item.
Totally get Mattel is solely in the production game and is not going to become some retail behemoth, which necessitates these deals. Clearly major retailers see the worth of driving us to their stores, one just does a severely poor job at actually selling me on the idea that shopping at their store is worth it in the long haul.

Mattel is the biggest toy company in the world, you're telling me they cant leverage that to fix this major f'n problem? If this was the 80s or 90s maybe mattel could tell walmart to get there sheet together and put pressure on them to get the product the the shelves, fix the online orders, etc. Now mattel is billions in debt, loses money almost every quarter, so walmart has the leverage. If the mattel ceo called the walmart ceo, and told him "fix this crap". Walmart cut downs mattel's shelf space in there stores to the bone or remove it altogether the next day. Then mattels stock price tanks after this becomes public. Mattel has to just smile and nod to everything walmart does, cause they have no choice. Walmart and Target are literally keeping mattel afloat right now.
