Yeah thats pretty much right. And also that 6 inch figure category can be sliced up even further by things like points of articulation, where its being sold, materials its made of and even what factory its being made at. Also, unless you’re under an on-air talent contract, not every deal is the same and/or exclusive. Andre the Giant, for example, has figure deals everywhere including Super7 which is the same scale as Mattel. Chella also doing a R&B Valentine in the Hasbro style is another example. I can also see Jarrett after previously losing his name and likeness not willing to sign over exclusivity to anyone. A merchandising contract also doesn't supersede an existing contract. If there was already a contract in place with Zombie Sailor, he's likely able to move forward with the figure under the terms of that contract (unless there is some kind of termination clause that would be triggered, but that seems unlikely). If the ZST contract is non-exclusive, it may still allow Jazwares to make 6in figures. But simply signing a contract with AEW wouldn't nullify any other existing agreements a wrestler has. A recent example would be Hogan re-signing with WWE, but Mattel needing to wait until his Storm contract expired before they could produce 6in scale figures even though other merch was being produced.

We don’t know how many of them still apply RVD as an example he lost when he went back to wwe. But we don’t know what type of deal he has. Not everything is exclusive. Andre, Slaughter, and Bulldog all have figures with other companies. DiBiase had a deal with PowerTown at least for a short period of time while also with WWE. There seems to be a lot more freedom with talent being able to do deals with other companies. May be why we have seen an increase in first time or return to the line after a long talent getting signed recently. RVD said in an interview hale had a figure coming out with a company but it got scrapped when he signed back with wwe If you look at the names who deal with and without WWE it’s people who hold their own trademark (which bulldog does) and people big enough to call their own shots (if Andre or macho were missing from wwe merch it’s a huge loss so their estates can negotiate more than a bezerker or someone else of that stature

Without talking hypothetically the only one we know was cancelled post rejoining wwe was RVD as he confirmed himself

For reference here’s the transcript from the interview I copied from Nov 21 post by mrh in the retros figs thread
"There was a third party conflict though. I gave a third-party permission to make an RVD action figure. They are called Heels and Faces, their work is really good. I didn’t know WWE was doing anything with me, but at the virtual San Diego Comic Con, Heels and Faces made their announcement about my figure. But also Mattel was making an announcement on the same day about an RVD figure, and I had no idea. WWE got a hold of me shortly after and made me cancel the first one. It’s understandable, but I just don’t know. People ask me if I’m going to be in the videogame, I don’t know, I have very little to do with it. They are just using my likeness."

I’d imagine he’d wanna do Luna, Moolah, Francine, Woman, Daphne, Missy Hyatt, Bull Nakano, and other major female names before her.

RVD's wording here is interesting. It's kind of implying that WWE requested he cancel the figure. Maybe just Rob being Rob.

At first, I thought ZST was making a 911/Big Al figure.

So these are or aren’t shorter than Elites?

Pillman seems like an odd choice, considering Mattel has made Pillman figures. Really thought it would be guys that Mattel or AEW won’t make.

TBF, a street clothes loose cannon has never been made by any company except a Micro Brawler and it's arguably the most definitive overall look Pillman's ever had, especially if he can do the shirt.

Do these have a 2023 release date? Previous ZST' have been 18-24 months from the pre-order/crowd fundung date. Could be this year but he would have to invest some of those profits back into the company.

From what I have heard, they will be the same scale…but who knows. no idea about the credibility of this claim, but someone claimed that Mattel would issue a cease and desist for anyone making an Elite scale figure, claiming that they had copyright on that size/scale
meanwhile, AEW figures are just shorter versions of the same figure, but because they're shorter they're exempt so if this is true, I think these would be AEW sized rather than Elite sized
