] So.. two simple questions, what was the first album you ever owned and would you still go back for a listen?.. I ask this as our tastes in genre of music often change over years, even decades of our lives or you could still have the same taste in music from when you was growing up as a teen. You could be thinking, man that Zeppelin album rocked back then & it still rocks even now or you could be thinking.. My Chemical Romance?.. Panic at the Disco?.. what was i on? My first album was gifted to me for Christmas one year when i was back in middle school, i believe it must of been the year 2000 as Linkin Park was blowing up at the time & i asked my grand mama for the album: Hybrid Theory as i used to watch some of their music videos playing on Kerrang tv at the time while flicking through the music channels. Songs like Papercut, Crawling, One Step Closer and the big one that's been featured on millions of edgy teens Dragonball Z music videos: In The End Would i still give it a listen?.. to quote the immortal Heisenberg: YOU'RE GOD DAMN RIGHT I WOULD.. Not to say i'm the biggest Linkin Park fan out there as that album is mostly all ive listened to from the bands catalogue besides a couple of songs down the line afterwards but that Hybrid Theory album still holds up in my opinion to this day.. like that one dude from NewLegacyInc once said, every song on that album is a banger, i've just recently listened to it after years spent exploring other bands & finding new favourites but after hearing that dudes statement & giving it a listen back, i couldn't agree more with that guy.. So.. what was your first album & would you still give it a listen after all this time?, do you even still own the album to this day?.. I still own Hybrid Theory lost within my collection besides Faith No More, Pearl Jam, Guns N Roses, Metallica etc.

The first physical version of any music I remember owning was a cassette my Mom got me of a Divo album for the song "Whip It." I don't remember if it was a single cassette or the full album cause I was like 5. I heard the song on Beavis and Butthead when my Dad was watching. Lol
My taste in music as a kid was pretty busted. I had everything from Eiffle 65, Lenny Kravitz, Chumbawamba, Spice Girls, etc. Thank God my Mom had a great taste in music. She had Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Cars, etc on vinyl...and hundreds of cds of stuff like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode, Metallica, etc.
I am pretty open minded and listen to a wide range of music. I go from Slayer one minute to Laura Branigan the next.

The first album I ever got with my own money(my parents had a yard sale and I sold stuff, I was like 9) was “Spice” by The Spice Girls. I regret nothing. That album was/is the bomb dot com dot org

Sesame Street Monsters LP. 1975. I haven't listened to it probably since 1980, but I can bet I still know all the words to the songs. I played the hell out of that record.

The first album I can remember owning was Michael Jackson's Dangerous on cassette. It was gifted to me by my aunt for my 7th birthday in the summer of 1992. We lived in Texas at the time, but we must've been up north visiting family for the summer, because I remember we had a small gathering at my grandfather's place, and then we listened to the tape in the car on the way to a local theme park where we would celebrate my birthday.
I absolutely still listen to it. My copy is digital now, but it's still in fairly routine rotation on my iPod. I think that there are very few things I've listened to throughout various stages of my life that I wouldn't go back and revisit today. I basically grew up with a pair of headphones wrapped around my head, so no matter what sort of kick I was on, everything I've ever listened to has ties to a time and a place in my life.

the first CD I ever had was probably a pop band or something when I was really young
first CD I bought for myself was appetite for destruction, which I bought solely because people I thought were cool like guns n roses and the badass album cover. axl’s falsetto threw me totally off initially, I thought guns n roses was going to be similar to Metallica. silly me.
and yep, I still listen to it regularly.

I go from Slayer one minute to Laura Branigan the next. My dad was kind of similar in that way, he had a whole stack of old vinyl records with stuff like Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, in a way i think he steered me in the right path as i too often listen to the stuff he was into.. I know i said Hybrid Theory was the first album that was gifted to me when i was alot younger but if we're all mentioning the first albums that we ever purchased with our own pocket change, mine would have to be Pearl Jam's: Ten album. I own a few of their first albums as i didn't like the later stuff when it felt like Eddie's voice had cracked and they didn't seem to have that same youthful energy they once performed with during the 90's, some of their better material in my eyes was on that record. Evenflow, Alive, Jeremy, Black & Porch.. I still listen to them here and there to this day in rotation with other bands i'm into and i still own the album.

Metallica black album is the first I can recall. I still listen to certain songs that remind me of my sister that passed who was the one that introduced me to Metallica in the mid 90’s

First that I bought with my own my money was 1984 by Van Halen. My dad gave me a Marvin Gaye Greatest Hits before that. I still listen to both but have updated pressings.

Toxicity - System of a Down
Still absolutely love the album. One where you can play the whole thing without skipping a song.
