Stoked to see what Jazwares can do with the rights to Owen. He's worthy of all the praise. Make as many figures of him as possible, I say. Help out a good cause.
Now, imagine if this had happened:

I just hope they find a way to make these easily accessible. I assume a portion of the sales go to the foundation so it would behoove all involved for them to be as difficult to get as standard AEW figures are. Online exclusive maybe?

Ohhhhhh boy I am EXCITED for this. I know it won't have the copywritten logos that are owned by WWE but honestly it does not matter to me. Would love the Blank and Pink expected attire or even his singles Black and Yellow. EXCITED! I think every attire is on the table besides Blue Blazer. My question is will WWE stand in the way of any Owen Hart merchandise getting made?

This has Jeremy’s thumbprints all over it.
Whomever is responsible, thank you a hundred times over.
We all ultimately have Martha to thank…

This also is a good indication that they can do this with other former talent/legends not currently under a WWE merch deal.

Question as relatively new to the board and never on the AEW thread: has Jeremey or Jazzwares mentioned anything about making Hasbro/Retro style figures? Just given the list of older wrestlers (Arn, Tully, Jake, Sting, Owen, Tazz just to name a few) they can definitely have a few series that many of us collectors need to fill our collection/retro fix

I’m assuming when he says retros he means hasbros. I kinda hate how retros is the new term when referring to the Hasbro style fig. Just call em Hasbros.

I just wonder how they could. We are in sort of a unique situation where a wrestler died 20+ years ago and hasn't been copyrighted by the WWE since then, but now a new company has the rights to this person...but all of the attires most fans want were worn under the WWF umbrella. Its just something that I cannot relate to another situation and I can't picture how the WWE could persue legal action. A few comments ago, I found it reassuring that the 2004 Legends of Wrestling video game had a few WWF gears for Owen Hart, and they were able to put them in a video game without dealing with remifications. I don't see how the WWE could claim the rights to a black singlet with some pink lines and a heart on it; or a black singlet with caution tape; or a big "O.H." logo. Really the only thing I can see as a threat would be using anything that says "Hart Foundation" from 1997 or depicting the Slammy trophy in his 1996 gear. I know he wore them in the WWF on TV and such but I just don't think they can tell Jazzwares that they can't do something in this case. I do wonder if Martha would have a problem, though. She sort of seems like she wants to totally eliminate the idea that Owen was in the WWF. Not to say this is right or wrong, but I could see a situation where perhaps Martha only wants his likeness used for non-WWF looks. I don't think she would budge on that if she felt that way, either.

Give me Owen Hart in his KOTR 1994 Pink “Rocket” singlet and I’ll be a happy collector. This is great news all around for the legacy of Owen Hart. Also heard this might mean he will be in the AEW video game also….fingers crossed.

The guy has a lengthy facebook post detailing what happened. It's nothing to do with WWE. Martha passed. Likely because this AEW deal has been on the cards for some time. "Well, long story short, the Owen Hart Foundation ultimately passed on the pitch (though his wife, Martha, was quite nice about it!). Which I’d say was a personal bummer as Owen is very near and dear to my heart. But, it’s not about me; it’s about Owen, and honoring his legacy in the way that it deserves to be."

Yeah I meant maybe Martha passed because she doesn’t want any figures of Owen from his time in WWE, she might not want his time there honoured, remembered or replicated in any way. Hopefully not the case and like you say, maybe this AEW deal was on the cards, long time between the two though, so not too sure on that.

Its just something that I cannot relate to another situation and I can't picture how the WWE could persue legal action. It’s like when Storm Collectibles made the nWo Hollywood Hogan figure. They couldn’t use any logos on his attire that are owned by WWE. Who knows what parts of Owen’s attire is owned by WWE? But if there are any, they won’t be able to use them.

Could they do Owen having his hands up in gold with King Of Harts underneath? I know AEW got the copywrites to King of Harts earlier this year.

I'd much rather enjoy the exposure of those few who absolutely trashed the wife of the wrestler they claim to love and respect over her not getting over it and clearing the way for merch. But that's just me.

I am really, really happy to see this. I hope AEW doesn't make his arms, hands scrawny like that Jake Hager figure.
