I get the argument fellas. I just don’t agree with it. For a product to be a variant it needs to have a demonstrable change to the product itself. If jungle boy came with pink pants or the package is expanded upon to be more grandiose, that in my eyes would be a variant. This, whatever Jazwares/RS is doing here, isn’t a variant to me. It’s a cash grab to pressure people into buying two of these or buying the more expensive and rarer of the two. Disguising it as a variant. The issue is the two products themselves are identical in what you’re actually buying and the “difference” isn’t nearly great enough to warrant what a variant is when discussing collectibles. I think that’s unethical, but hey, that’s my opinion. that's just not true. there are black card variants of LJN figures where they sell for more and are considered rarer than the standard blue. it varied from it's original packaging - it's a variant. pretty cut and dry. Yeah I don’t buy that. That’s a rerelease. |

Yeah I don’t buy that. That’s a rerelease. The only difference between a rerelease and a variant is whether they came out together or one followed by the other later on Yeah. The ljn blackcards are re-releases. As far as I can remember they were the last things released and were pretty much exclusive to Canada. (Hey, we actually got something America didn't!). But yeah, that's basically the difference. What a variant is isn't really something debatable, it's just the definition of a word. |

Mate if we’re going by the definition of variant then my roman reigns with misprinted true fx is a variant since it slightly varies from the standard release. That’s silly, obviously. Variants in collecting are debated all the time, don’t know why people are pretending there’s some agreed upon way to decide what is and isn’t a variant. Just because you think it, doesn’t mean it’s true. Same goes for me. |

When the Jakks Classic Superstars Ultimate Warrior with the intricate duster came out packaged forwards and a variant packaged backwards, it was considered a packaging variant. This is the same exact thing and is a fun little bonus variant. If you don't like it, simply don't purchase it. |

Put some of my stimulus check to good use today ordering some figures I'd been holding off on for a while. I ordered the RSC Exclusive Jurassic Express because its one of the few sets where I might actually keep the packaging. Looked very cool. Also, the single Luchasaurus figure from the regular line seems to be sold out so this is the only way to get the figure. |

Not that warrior specifically (it was the series one warrior for me), but searching for the classic superstars ultimate Warrior is actually how I found out what Rsc was. Found the forum a few years later to buy a lot of Hasbro's, then eventually re-found the forum again a couple years ago. Thanks for the accidental memory lane trip. |

Guys enough with this already please. No one is "grabbing your cash", no one is forcing you to do anything. If you want one, get it, if you want both, get them both. No big deal. And yes, technically it IS a variant:

Joe and Transformers group into the local collecting group are hilarious. Dude gi Joe and the neca tmnt hardcore collectors are insane. It's like I have a healthy collection of both but good lord. I know nothing of the transformers collectors. I stay away from transformers and star wars. Also to a lot of these hardcore collectors they do treat figures as a drug 😂. I'm guilty of it..if target and Walmart are empty I'll make a purchase on ringside. But I make sure I have all other priorities and bills are good. |

Oh, no. I missed a step.
I thought the packaging variant was silly, so I didn't buy it. I didn't realize I was supposed to rail against it and make at mild attempt at intimidating the retailer, too. Is it too late?
