So I’ve been hot and cold on the AEW line thus far - some great looking figures but a couple of issues with scale and head scans not up to scratch. However, with the reveal of Series 4 (probably one of the best executed sets from any company in recent memory) I can say I’m “all in” with this line, and want to see Jazwares fully maximise its potential. That being said, I know we’re all clamouring for more legends and especially those looking as though they’re not likely to receive the WWE/Mattel treatment any time soon. We know from his time on the WWE Classic Superstars line that Jeremy goes all in and doesn’t tend to hold back with putting out guys that you wouldn’t necessarily expect. So... who do you want to see in the AEW line? We have to expect the obvious guys who are with the company such as Sting, Taz, Jake Roberts, Arn Anderson, DDP, Dean Malenko, Billy Gunn, etc. But, who else could Jazwares realistically go for? We’ve seen Owen Hart micro brawlers appearing... should he be considered a serious possibility now? How do you want to see them - short packed in the “flashback” style similar to Mattel and slotted in the regular line? Crowd funded online throughout the year? Or ideally with their own unique series? Let me know your thoughts. No doubt this is an exciting time in terms of wrestling figure collecting!

I think the best (and most likely) way we see them released is as part of the Unmatched line with a normal case packing. I'd imagine there may be some that get released through Ringside ala CS.
This is sort of the combined who I think we will see/want to see list: Steiners Road Warriors RnR Express Raven Midnight Express (probably not Cornette due to heat with EVPs) Shane Douglas Lance Storm (unless WWE signed him) Glacier Dynamite Kid King Kong Bundy Rick Martel
Owen is the wildcard. I don't want to say something is likely, but it's certainly looking more possible than at any point in the last two decades. I also think we'll see Jeremy go back to his Jakks playbook - older stars like Dory Funk, Tony Atlas, an RSC bloody Abdullah the Butcher.
There are plenty of possibilities. But if they're doing retro style figures integrated into the line, there are going to be fewer slots to go around than I would have hoped.

I think Jeremy understands he can capitalize on the people WWE won’t or can’t make.
I want all of the ECW guys. Start with Jerry Lynn in his black world title/WWF light heavyweight title tights and Taz because they’re in house, but give us Raven, Shane Douglas, Sandman, Sabu, etc. and make all of my figure dreams become reality.
Aside from the ECW crew, I have three specific wants. Owen, who I think is realistic for the first time in 20 years, Scott Steiner who just needs a fair paycheck out of the deal, and Sean O’Haire, who has never gotten a figure.
I think we’ll get some cool stuff. Bruiser Brody, Dino Bravo, RnR Express, maybe like an Iceman Parsons. Jeremy knows how to tap into voids in the market and that’s what I expect.

My top 2 wants would be ECW Raven & Owen Hart, though I think that may be a bit difficult with the WWE legal issues with his attires & I would rather they made a WWE outfit between 94-97.

I just hope they don't pull a WWE and only sign people if they can "build a merch program" around that talent.
Having said that, Luna is pretty high on my list.

This would probably be Jazwares signing talent to figure contracts directly. So it's probably going to look a lot like CS - deep cuts, territory guys, etc.

Sounds exciting on paper, but I wonder if there would be likeness issues for some of those that were in WWE/WWF.

Retro versions of Sting, Taz, Jerry Lynn, or DDP with AEW logos on the box make a little more sense than people with no affiliation like Owen Hart or whoever else. I can see the logic going either way.

I can see the logic going either way. It doesn't have a direct connect in the sense of AEW. But it's mutually beneficial. AEW gets their brand and logo in front of more eyeballs, and they've already made some efforts to build connections to wrestling history - the Memphis wrestling Dynamite, bringing in various legends, connecting with the NWA. And Jazwares is only going to be able to get so many lines to be carried at retail. Just getting two different SKUs is a huge win in my eyes, and honestly not something I expected them to pull off this fast. It makes a lot more sense to integrate those figures into the two existing lines than to try to get a third product into retail.

Yep, totally agree with all those points, but devil's advocate: if Jeremy has been signing people to deals independent of AEW, they'll have to reach some kind of agreement to include them in the AEW figure line. Maybe (for example) Jim Cornette agrees to let Jeremy make a Jim Cornette figure, but AEW doesn't want that product to have their branding (or vice versa, he doesn't want to be under AEW branding). Totally speculating but it could be possible that anybody Jeremy signs to a separate deal could get a veto from AEW. And because of that, retro figures of people who work for AEW or are friendly with the company are the most likely candidates. On the other hand, if they're able to make a deal for an Owen Hart figure in an AEW line, that's a huge win for all involved and obviously beneficial to all parties.

There were a lot of people in the Classic Superstars like who either never worked for WWE or did very little with them. The AEW branding on the packaging is really only an issue for someone like Cornette who is not going to get a figure, so you guys should get some 3D printers to scan his head.

I'd still like to upgrade some of those CS like Kauffman, Jack Briscoe, and Ventura.

And AEW is their business partner. They're not going to operate a legends line separate from their existing licensing partner. A) there's probably some type of non-compete language in their contract where Jazwares won't produce a conflicting wrestling toy line b) it's just bad business to release a product that essentially competes with your licensing partner. It's just not going to happen. At the end of the day, you're talking about a multi-million dollar business partnership. If AEW says, "don't make Cornette, we hate that guy." Jazwares is going to say sure thing and move on to someone else. They're not going to try to find some loophole to sell a few thousand more figures and damage a really good business partnership.
