If someone buys it, they can do whatever they want with it. I do find it odd that someone would open one then immediately put it on eBay or etc. but maybe the packaging was damaged or etc.

If I find a chase and the box isn’t pristine I’ll probably open it. Although I’d want to find a MOMC one too before I committed to it

As an MOC collector it would hurt me to see someone open a chase, but that's just personal preference. There's no reason to truly be annoyed or upset at someone for doing what they want with their figure. Now is it odd that a loose chase is being sold? Sure, but as others have said the box could be damaged or something like that.
I'm not sure what I would do if I happened to have a chase/rare with a damaged box. I suppose it would depend how bad it is. But unless it was totally mangled I would probably keep it in the box. Like hey it's not mint, but I've still got the f*cker!

If I find Mox chase I’m opening it as soon as I get in the car. Loose figures are the way to go. I’m not worried about what it’s worth because I’m not planning on selling any of these.

I'm an opener in general. It depends on if the chase is unique enough to open. I wouldn't open Mox but would open MJF. I'm never going to trade or sell it.
