It belongs to them. 2. You're likely ascribing the worth of keeping it sealed based upon rising financial value, and they have decided to enjoy things in the here and now.

Well, on one hand, yes, it straight up makes my teeth hurt when I see someone listing an opened chase figure on ebay. For starters, if you were going to sell it, why the hell did you open it?!?! Unless you are trying to do a kindness to the world somehow by offering up loose rarities, there's no point.
On the other hand, someone opening a chase to display and enjoy? Go for it. It's your figure do what you want. If it means anything, the only 1/____ figure I own is a CS 1/3000 Mick Foley which I did, in fact, buy loose. It's the only straight "Mick Foley" figure I own and, until Mattel makes a better one than that horrid WM figure, it will continue to be my only one, although I'm sort of sad I didn't pick up the WM one in store when I found it. I probably could have easily done a head swap and some painting to fix it up. Now...
Not the point. The point is that it's useless to get upset about what other people do with their figures, or any of their stuff for that matter. If it's their stuff and they obtained it through legitimate means, they could set it ablaze and post the video on youtube for all I have say about it. Personally, if I had one? I'd keep it MOC. But I'm not them and I likely never will have one, so it's a moot point.

If they bought and paid for the figure, they can do whatever they want with it.

This might be the peak wfigs entitlement thread lmao. How dare other people open toys they bought? If someone drops $1000ish bones on a chase, as stupid as it is, they can do whatever they want with it.

At the end of the day, they're toys. Some people will open them, others won't.
If you're going to crack it open and then immediately stick it on ebay - that definitely doesn't seem like the smartest decision from a financial perspective.

What if instead of being mad at the people enjoying the toys they bought, you got mad at Jazwares for making only 500/1000 and artificially creating a mass value to them.

I know we probably disagree with this, but I actually don't think the 500/1000 quantities were crazy, given the size of AEW's audience and it being a new product/brand. I honestly didn't think the line would see this type of demand, and I've been a big supporter of AEW from Day 1. With that said, I do hate the chase concept in general. Mass produced toys should be just that.

No. It is their toy and they often paid a lot for it if not found at retail. Of course, I am not a fan of MOC for any figures though.

A lot of people are saying no, but if I'm being honest, yes it I find it annoying. But it's 100% because I'm jealous that I don't have any of the Chase or Rare figures. If I did, I personally wouldn't open them.

Mass produced toys should be just that. 500 is absolutely too low, and 1000 was fine for things like the Mattel belts but to lock specific attires away behind this is incredibly frustrating. I’ve seen so many people talk about how badly they want the 1 of 500 Darby, but almost none of those people will ever be able to have it for no reason other than there’s only 500 and people will be reselling them for $700+

While I do agree it can be frustrating to find these types of figures opened when seeking them for their value/ long-term investment, I also like to look at it this way:
If it was being resold already opened, it can reduce the possibility of someone who did want one loose from opening another one.
This is essentially my mentality on using rare/ older figures for customs. If the figure was already open/ broken when purchased, then no harm done imo.

Maybe the box was badly damaged and they knew that the figure would still sell and make a profit, plus cheaper shipping loose.

Of course, they could have kept it and swapped the boot from a common one to fix it, but not everyone thinks this way.
