Guys I have a question for you all....how old is too old to collect figures? First of all I’m a 45 year old Moc collector & I don’t have a whole lot of figures (18 at the moment to be exact) .....I have a small room which I have them displayed along with pics, posters, ring worn gear & autographs....I live with my girlfriend who’s always seemed to be cool with it & even tells me that she is but every now & then she’ll make some sorta comment that just makes me feel foolish for having my collection....like yesterday for example, she called my collection “extreme” & said it’s weird that a 45 year old man has a room full of “half naked men” .....it’s enough to make me wanna take it all down, box it up & put it in storage somewhere but then what’s the point of even having it at all if that’s all you’re going to do with it?? Idk, I told her that it’s something that I enjoy & that there’s worse things I could spend money on like drugs or alcohol & that my collection is no different from people who have collections of football, Nascar or music memorabilia .....Our bills are paid, there’s food on the table & presents under the tree for everyone so I don’t understand the problem....another weird thing is I believe she’s bought me the hall of fame Sting figure & has it wrapped under the tree though I wouldn’t swear to it, which only confuses me more about her occasional comments that make me feel downright childish.....any thoughts or comments from anyone who’s experienced the same or similar?

Too old is when you’re dead. As long as what you’re doing doesn’t hurt anyone else, don’t change what makes you happy for someone else, because then you’ll never stop being unhappy and not have the thing you enjoyed

When you’re in the pine box or if it’s your choice. A pile of ashes. You’re never too old to enjoy a hobby!

This question comes up a lot, and the answer is always the same.
If you enjoy it... and it's not at a cost of your well-being from a financial, health, social, emotional, and/or spiritual standpoint... it's fine. If you're not hurting yourself or anyone else, who tf cares?
I love you.

I'll never be to old; just manage it. Because; collecting is like crack for me. But; I learned to control it; sometimes. But; nothing to be ashamed. I think it's a badass hobby and no one can tell me different.

I collected from 10-16 then started collecting again at 24. I'm keeping my figures forever no matter what. I say do whatever the makes you happy and never let anyone guilt trip you for your hobbies.

If your S/O doesn't like that you collect you figures because of your age, then tell her that she's too old to put on a dress and make-up. That'll get her going.
I'm just kidding, don't actually do it. You're never too old for anything. If anything, just tell her that it's a good investment considering that figures can be bought for $20 via retail and can go for 10x's the price in 2-3 years.

I'm 31, my wife says she don't care. But every once in awhile, ask me why I want or need figures. I laugh it off, and explain to her the same money she blows on coffee, nails, hair and things she likes is no different. The only real difference is my figures gain value and if I ever sell them I make money, where as the stuff she gets is worthless and don't last. I think your wife is just busting your balls saying the half naked men thing, and I have a feeling you feel guilty about buying figures, so it kind of offends you rather than you taking it as a joke. Just enjoy it bro, and if you are happy collecting, collect. If everything else is in line in life and collecting doesn't effect it at all, then your good.
1. Explain that it actually is an investment and the value of the figures are worth more than some stocks and precious metals, which is true.
2. If your wife spends money on things that she likes. Ask her what the difference is.
3. I literally have a undertaker and legends display next to my bed in OUR bedroom with figures building up in them. At the end of the day, she thinks it's silly but she don't really care. I also have over 60 NECA figures on my wall. If I can get away with half our bedroom loaded with figures, you should be alright bro.
At the end of the day every other part of my marriage is solid and she has no complaints. Just keep her happy and you will be good.

Also be confident about collecting. If she says stuff, laugh it off. And don't stop doing what you enjoy. Don't be a push over and give up somthing you like.

Thank you all for the comments so far....each of you are making perfect sense & I agree with everyone....I did tell her that her response was that of a typical non-fan....although she claims to have watched the Wwf some with her brother during the attitude era, she wouldn’t know a wrist lock from a wrist watch (when we first got together she thought Kane & Sting were the same person for God’s sake)....if there is by chance any female members here I would love to get your take on this as well also, from a woman’s point of view

It’s got nothing to do with age.
Collecting (or any kind of hobby) is all about what fulfills you on the inside.
If you’re at the point of questioning what you have or why you have it or what you do at all, did it really make you all that happy to begin with?
Hobbies and interests are important for mental health but only if you really enjoy doing it.
I’m 29 and often trim the fat in my collection but never ever question whether I should get rid of it or put it all into storage. I love my stuff too much. I have so much I don’t have the space to display it. Once I get a bigger place, I’ll be displaying even more. (Not just talking about wrestling figs)

As for being too old, I think that's all on you. If you feel ashamed then is it worth collecting? Just own it (the hobby). If you can't stand the way people may belittle you or their negative opinions of you, then it seems your hobby isn't bringing you the happiness it should. Do you secretly or even subconsciously judge others for their hobbies, including this one? If so, then maybe it isn't really worth it.
I made a decision YEARS ago to let every meaningful person in my life know about my wrestling fig collection, and most people don't even care either way. If they think it's silly I just don't care. But that's me. If you are sheepish about going to the toy aisle, or hide the figure in your shopping cart in case you run into someone, or if you're just generally afraid someone you know will find out, then why live like that? That seems to bring more anxiety than happiness.
If I felt the instinct or outright pressure to sneak for something I enjoy, then I would seriously need to rethink that activity unless that activity was some morally righteous thing, like helping escaping slaves on the Underground Railroad -- but collecting figs is nowhere near that! As such, if it brings trepidation then I'd say it isn't worth it.
Bottom line: If YOU feel too old, then you're too old.

Pretty much everyone, with maybe exception of minimalists and those who unfortunately can’t afford to, collects something. Sometimes many things. It’s a hobby. One not restricted to age.
With that said, 63.

I honestly feel like most adults nowadays have collectibles in one form or another, it's not like 10-15 years ago where it was kinda looked down at by karens.
I don't really know anybody who doesn't have at least some shelf with some old memorabilia from their childhood or something along those lines.

As long as it’s not it out of control spatially or financially then people should be allowed to keep what they like. (Playing is another story altogether) Superheroes attires aren’t much different and those guys can’t even do their own stunts

72 Years, 8 Months, 12 Hours, 15 Minutes, and 32 Seconds. After that exact point, you're too old to collect.
But seriously, no age is too old. As long as you enjoy it, there's nothing wrong with it. Who cares what people think. I started at 8, and don't intend to stop until I drop.
