I can kind of understand it. If something happens with someone in these deals Vince is probably scared it will include him or WWE since they are using the name.

This is really a complete non story and people who are throwing a fit over it simply just dont understand legalities. All Vince is saying is you cant use your stage name that HE owns to make money for yourself. This is common sense. But once again, its 2020 and Vince is bad man so we must hate everything he do cause we are elite now. No, no one brought aew into this at all, so why are you throwing stupid shade that way? I agree that this is a non story if that's what the actual story is (and I said as much in my own post like four or five up) but why are you bringing that into this? All it is is trolling and doesn't add anything to the actual topic. You want to actually compare the two, yes aew runs their company far more ethically and it's not close. But that wasn't the topic. He was merely saying that - even without knowing the full story, people (the usual suspects, mostly), will instantly jump on Vince/WWE, for the slightest thing nowadays, because they've found a shiny, new toy to play with. Also, why is any mention/reference to AEW, considered trolling? The letters AEW, shouldn't be off-limits, outside of that board.

I agree I don't think they should be off limits no, if it's an actual comparison. Comparisons are fine if theyre meaningful, and just so no one thinks that I only swing one way on that debate, I'll give a pro WWE example. It's not unfair at all for example, if we're talking about production values, to say that WWE does a better job there than aew. Nivros comment came off far more as trolling to me, because it was basically accusing anyone of criticizing Vince of doing so just because they like aew which is not the case. I actually agreed with the rest of his take on the situation personally, I think this was a mostly non story blown up.

There's no way this is legal, but it's not like WWE wrestlers will stand up for themselves and take WWE to court all the way on it. This would not and should not hold up in court. Comparing this to Disney and Johnny Depp is erroneous. For one thing, actors like Johnny Depp have a labor union to back them up. For another, most wrestlers likenesses as a WWE Superstar are their actual likenesses and real life. I don't see how WWE can claim copyright on all that. Thirdly, THEY ARE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS. WWE cannot have this much control over talent doing this type of work in their own time, especially when they aren't doing this in a competing industry.

Mike Rome just removed the WWE part from his name. Paige changed her identity on those platforms to Saraya. Sounds like it's just the WWE likeness & name that they can't use, and in cases like Rome where the name is the same, he's just removed the WWE part of the identity. IF *And this is a developing story so this may be a big if, but IF that's all they have to do, then I kinda get it. Chris Hemsworth can sell and do anything as Chris Hemsworth, but he can't go around running a youtube channel as official Thor. Unlike most, I'll wait for more facts before I get in an uproar. IF it's just a WWE name/licensing thing, then I get it. It's no different than Disney telling Johnny Depp he can't be Jack Sparrow in a car commercial. Or when NFL players do sponsorships and they wear those close but not quite right jerseys. I even heard that NFL players with Twitch are not allowed to show the NFL logo or the team logos in them. Whether or not that's true, I dunno. But at least we know what Renee had to say, so I feel better now. Definitely think it’s just this which seems quite understandable tbh.

From stories I’ve heard about Carrano, he seems like the type of person that manages to linger around despite himself. I could believe that he was telling people that, even though it’s incorrect. I’ve worked with a bunch of people in my career that feel the need to seem like they know everything and they end up spreading a ton of false information.

I've had upper-middle managers that have done the same, so I think this is a definite possibility. Like he's spreading misinformation among the roster basically to scare them.

So what you’re saying is, WwE is a healthy workplace environment? 😉 The furthest thing from it. They only started testing everyone for COVID-19 in Orlando AFTER there was an outbreak of 38 people in the company getting it from the TV tapings, including Renee Young, Adam Pearce, AJ Styles, and Kayla Braxton.

Yeah I’m sure AJ needs that twitch money when he’s making 2.5 million a year. Give me a break complaining about taking away them making “extra cash”

Load of bs. Telling people what they can and can’t do with their legal names is beyond illegal lol From what I read it’s not their real name it’s theirWWE names or the WWE in their names. Those Vince owns.

Man, I miss "good girl steph" And I wonder how much revenue the wrestlers are currently generating for the company. No live events has to hurt merch sales. Ratings going down has too

Man, I miss "good girl steph" A I miss good guy Vince, it's like he's not even the same human being between his 1987 and 1997 characters. I guess Mick and Nash must feel the end is near for WWE. LOL. They would NEVER post negatively against WWE if they felt they could another appearance out of them, even if just one. I guess HHH chose DX over the Kliq in that NXT In Your House gimmick so Nash feels slighted. Vince must be losing money if he can't afford to bring ALL of his son in laws buddies, on Vince's dime, to the latest PPV or Raw reunion. If Vince had any business sense in the entertainment world (he doesn't, given 30 years of failure outside of wrestling) he might want to partner up with these wrestlers in helping put over the company on other forms of media.

WWE will be taking over wrestlers twitch accounts in 4 weeks and taking a cut of the revenue.
