After yesterday helping my gran clean her kitchen top to bottom, I learnt that it doesn't always have to be a task you dread. We chatted through it and the reward of helping her do it rather than her at her age doing it herself gave it a real sense of accomplishment.

That 54 is totally different than 25 or even 40. My brother-in-law is moving out of his house and my wife wanted his sofa and love seat, because our sofa and sofa bed are 22 years old and he doesn’t have room for them where he’s moving to. Anyway when we originally bought ours I actually thew them over my shoulder and carried them one at a time into our apartment and then into the house we moved into by myself. Then 15 years ago I did the same with my Brother-in-laws set when he moved into his house. Sure I was sore and could barely walk the next day, but while it took me a day to recover then there was comfort in knowing I could still do it if needed.

Fast forward to today and I could barely drag them let alone carry them by myself. And once we got them into my truck I had to unload them and move them into our house and remove the old ones by myself. My back gave out and I actually collapsed to a knee when I turned to walk back into the house after bringing the last sofa to the curb.

Right now I have thermal care patches on my back, both knees and hips and can’t walk. And we volunteered to help him again tomorrow and a few days next week because the movers couldn’t fit everything he had in the house and he needs to be out on the first.

I am a older than you, but know what you are going through. Any more an 8 pound gallon of milk seems heavy. If I try to run, it is like I am in quicksand and am sore for three days afterwards.
