Didn't the WWE/Mattel agreement get extended beyond 2021? Yeah. I don't know, 2022 then. Whenever it expires Hasbro needs to take over. These hot garbage "announcements" can not continue. I think they just picked names out of that to be the new elite squad. |

I mean, if they were going with just anyone for the elite squad, you could have easily gone with Kevin and Sami. No less cringeworthy, I'll grant you, but at least they're watchable.
Sami's at home right now but Zoom does exist and they have both admitted to being toy addicts at one point in their lives.
Plus, they did do that one Mattel commercial.
Face it. Nobody will replace Hawkins and Ryder. I guess they just realized that and said "Why bother"

people are really angry about something called the mattel "elite squad" and who's a part of it? smh find everything to complain about and get annoyed with dont you. the only thing that bothers me the most is the fact that hawkins & ryder are not a part of this anymore, considering everything they had been doing for the last year+ with the podcast and how much they have built up the entire figure community, its just a damn shame. and if you havent realized by now...EVERY. single. thing. the WWE does is done in full blown "promotion" mode. everything. nothing is realistic or natural, everything is sold as over the top and the greatest thing they've ever done. they cant let anything be real or sound real. for whatever reason i dont know. so thats why these kinds of videos seem so cringe because they're not trying to sell anything to us (the long term collector) they are trying to get the attention of new people or fans the only thing i needed to see was the Viking Raider elite renders and they look AWESOME, cant wait to get them ....probably in late 2022  |

I agree. As mainly a Marvel Legends collector since Toy Biz Series 1, seeing how Hasbro has finally hit the nail on the head with the line over the past few years is awesome/taxing on the wallet. And I sincerely doubt Elites outsell Legends, especially the Spider-Man and X-Men themed lines. All you need to do is look at the aftermarket, where even the duds can go for triple retail price if they have a piece of a popular BAF. Even at retail, they sell out much quicker, come out more often, get restocked more often, in more places and have more presence than anything Mattel makes.
Not that Hasbro is great at everything always, the 6" Star Wars line has always been a pain to find and has as many misses as it does hits. Then again, Mattel completely dropped the ball with MOTUC, Ghostbusters and the DC license. They pretty much just let those brands die. Rebooting He-Man in a completely different scale does nothing for me, and I'm glad Hasbro got the GBs. Not so for McFarlane getting DC. I'm glad different teams work on different lines, you want to talk about parts reuse and lack of scale? DCUC had maybe 5 male torsos. And they mainly used the one.
The fact that WM/Target have had bare WWE Elite aisles for months even before the outbreak isn't exactly because they're flying off the shelves.

The Raiders look great. The detail is top notch. I just hope the paint apps can live up to the level of sculpting. And I did basically say that the whole problem with the Elite Squad is that it isn't Hawkins and Ryder, therefor it's pretty much invalid regardless of who they put in there. Finally, that comment about how the WWE goes full steam on everything? Accurate. They've lost all sense of scale. Either something doesn't matter, or it's the biggest thing since Hogan/Andre at WMIII. I've said it before, I'll say it again. You can't just keep making everything "The Biggest ____ Ever!" because then none of it matters. Turn everything up to 11, and all you get is a bunch of loud noise. |

just drive traffic to WWE social media accounts is really what this is basically. at least they couldve done a figure giveaway instead of a 1 hour Q&A of some random trying to ask 1 hour worth of questions. lol.

Does it really matter who is a "member" of the Elite Squad? It literally has zero barring on figures in any way, shape, or form. The decisions on figures will still be made by Bill and company. People need to relax. It's a holiday weekend for crying out loud!

But action figures weren't going to save their jobs. They've created a very lucrative side hustle for themselves, and I'm sure they'll be just fine wherever life takes them from here. |
