definitely bad timing to start up on their end, but who could’ve predicted it? considering how their ratings were doing, maybe this is an easy way to bow out without declaring failure.

Everything I had heard about The XFL was mostly positive, but I don't think anyone could have known there would be a pandemic mid-season. Can't be easy for any company let alone a start up. To be honest, there's going to be a lot of businesses that don't survive this.

Don't get me wrong, I hate hearing about guys losing their jobs and their chances to make money while getting a national platform. But I had no interest in this XFL and never watched a game. Perhaps I would have given it a shot if it wasn't so blatant at what audience they were aiming for.

This sucks. Go DC Defenders! They should recycle the team names for wrestlers. We can have guys like the DC Defender, the Seattle Dragon, the New York Guardian, the Tampa Bay Viper, the LA Wildcat, etc.

Sad, as it seemed like it finally worked. But NFL is back in the fall, so yay!

Wait did it actually start?
I don't remember reading or hearing a thing about the season beginning.
Either way, sucks that it was cancelled.

I doubt it. With how things are in the USA and Canada right now, I would be very surprised if this is cleared up by the end of 2020.

They practically control Sundays in the US during the fall/winter and there is way too much money to be lost if the season and Super Bowl are shelved. The TV ratings for live NFL games during a lockdown will go through the roof.

Sad to see for myself personally since I actually enjoyed what the XFL was putting out. Oh well.

No chance they get cleared to have that many people grouped together in a stadium. Players, officials, coaching staff, medical, whatever media they might want there.... not a chance that’ll get cleared. Nor should it. Anyone who is dumb enough to gather in large groups like clearly don’t care about the health of themselves or others. All it takes is one to have been introduced to the virus and then they are all at risk, then they go home and their families are at risk, etc. it’s just a chain of putting others at risk. Just like all sports, it can wait till this is all cleared up. Wrestling should do the same.

That sucks, I kinda had a lot of hope for the league in the future. And it was cool seeing another league. But I guess if it was already a failure or appearing that way it may be easy way to cover that conception off.

If there’s one sport that will say “ it, we’re playing in full stadiums” regardless of if it’s considered safe or not, it’s the NFL.
