Scott Norton has a deal with the guys putting out RA figures so he's probably off limits. Chono would rule but he's also a separate license from New Japan. Oh I forgot about Norton having a deal with them. Damn. It's super unfortunate because of how much he still does with New Japan too. Like if the line did well enough to go past 3 waves he'd be an easy pick for an oddball fourth man in a set.

I don’t think those FTC deals are exclusive in any way. They’re essentially a one off contract that gives FTC the right to make a single figure and in some cases a variant. Unless it’s changed, I think the talent pays 50% of the costs to get those figures made. Gallows, Hawkins, Hero and AJ Styles all have Mattel figures, seemingly with no issues. The Bucks have FTC figures and got New Japan POPs and the LJN figures with no conflict.
We can probably ask Hawkins this question on Twitter and he could let us know since he worked with them. I don’t see Norton as a guy that makes it into this first group of figures but I’d love to have him. It’d be nice to know if he’s on the table for S7 or Mattel down the road.

My first real question would be, can you reveal how long the contract with NJPW is?

Wow! So far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm really excited to see that from everyone. Thanks for all your questions. So far, here's what I can tell you - - We'll be releasing pics before the pre-order. Those should be up within the next week or 2
- Price is $45.00
- We're loading them with character specific accessories
- Swappable heads and hands
Its usually a 5 month turn around for us when it comes from pre-order to production to release, so (barring any speed bumps along the way) these should be in hand by May/June.
Right now, it's looking like we're only going to be doing the modern NJPW roster, but if you want to see more, support the line. There are a lot of wrestlers, both past and present, that I wanna see us do so as long as we keep this dialogue going with one another, it's a great way for us to hear what you all want. I'm the resident wrestling figure collector at Super7, but it can't be just what I want to see.

Great to see another company interacting with the community, and I'm excited to see these figures.
I like NJPW, but honestly I'd be more interested in legends than most of the current roster. Particularly if that included guys like Norton, the Steiners, Liger, Chono, etc who have NJPW ties but could also fit into our WCW collections.
I was hoping to see a price point around $35 for NIPW and the Boss Fight lucha line. At $45 the line is a hard pass, even if the figure quality blows me away. But maybe I'm just not the target audience for this line.

Welcome to the forums TJ! Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions! I'm very excited for this line of figures and plan to support it however I can. You answered one of my questions (swappable heads and hands). Another question: Once you have a figure tooled, and after the initial release of that figure, will there be a possibility of re-releases with different tights/gear variations?

I'll add that I absolutely only want current guys from this line. There are too many great wrestlers over there who need figures ASAP, and it's an incredibly deep roster. I love legends as much as anyone but there's a million Charapro figures already of Chono, Muta, Ultimo Dragon, etc. (And I love the Charapro line!) We need to get through all the top, mid and lower card guys before we start redoing guys of the past, IMO.

God I'd love to be able to get figures of guys like Shibata, Suzuki, Nagata, and Makabe. If you guys are ever able to expand the line and license out legends not currently signed to NJPW, that'd be awesome, too.
If I'm being honest, I'd pay a little extra for Takayama if some of the proceeds went to his charity

It's absolutely become one of my favorite lines ever and you can get all of those guys (minus Shibata, who I totally want and need in this new line lol) and they look incredible. I even got my Kojima signed a few months ago. (My love for that line is a big reason why I'd want the upcoming line to stick to current guys, but I of course respect anyone who wants legends too. And I consider Suzuki, Nagata and Makabe still current guys since they're still going. Would love all of them to be a part of this line.)

While I love these figures, I'd really love having super detailed figures of the guys I said

Can you guys make Suzuki? As far as I know, he's a freelancer (which is why NJPW don't sell Suzuki-gun merch)

Hey TJ, I really liked the Thundercats packaging with the slip case. It's a cool concept, is there any chance of that kind of packaging for these figures where maybe the slip case represents the wrestler's faction?

Very cool that NJPW will have a figure line. With that being said I haven’t watched any of their product in quite awhile. However I’d be all for legends of NJPW figures. Hopefully they’ll get around to some, until then I’ll be watching from the sidelines. Good luck and I hope the line takes off!

I've been thinking about this a bit over the last couple of days but the "character specific accessories" we're getting with some of these guys hopefully includes the belts. I mean, Okada's been married to the IWGP Title for close to eight years now and Ishii might as well have had the NEVER belt superglued to him. I think Okada's entrance gear is pretty plausible too and that'll probably look really cool.
TJ did say last week that we're a week or two from the full reveal. Hopefully it's this week. Dying to know who the other two are in the first wave!

I just looked and the TMNT pics went up in two phases. The initial teaser image went up two weeks before and then the pics of all four figures went up the week before. If they follow that pattern, we should see the first teaser Friday and then the full reveal next Friday.

So just for the hell of it I went through and found my top 20 guys (all current) that I'd like to see made. It's tough because even then it's missing guys who certainly deserve a figure at some point (Rocky, Roppongi 3K, Lance Archer, Fale, Taguchi, etc.) Basically I want this line to go on forever, lol.
1. Okada 2. Ishii 3. Naito 4. Tanahashi 5. Suzuki 6. Ibushi 7. Kenta 8. Sanada 9. Will Ospreay 10. ZSJ 11. Jay White 12. Evil 13. Bushi 14. Shingo 15. Yano 16. Juice Robinson 17. Tama Tonga 18. Tanga Loa 19. Makabe 20. Hiromu/Shibata (couldn’t leave either out lol, they're actually much higher than 20 obviously but don't know how their current contract status factors into things)

So I guess I'm a bit confused on NJPW. At first I thought Super7 was going to start with Reaction for NJPW. Now it looks like Series 1 will be 6" Deluxe style. Does Super7 still plan on doing Reaction style later on?

But he could've meant for Andre the Giant.
