Yeah, Teix gives us the kind of presence in our lineup that we have been missing for a long time, not to mention that we have had a black whole at first for years. I really hope we can land another starter.

Hmm...I wonder if the braves could get a bag of balls and some hot pockets for Thorman?
Maybe taking some pressure off Andruw will allow him to actually make contact with the ball.

you got me excited, lorenzo. sorry about that.....i heard it and didn't check the sources and it turns out it was just being proposed by somebody trying to get attention. But don't feel let down yet, Red Sox ARE trying to get Gange, and Dotel also, so the Red Sox may have Gange by this time tomorrow anyway...just not right this second.

Gagne wants to remain a closer and can veto a trade to Boston. Though I wouldnt doubt that he would waive it to get a chance at the postseason.

The Braves are apparently on the verge of acquiring Octavio Dotel from the Royals...

Ken Rosenthal again. The Phillies just traded for Reds starter Kyle Lohse. They gave up 23 year-old Double A southpaw Matt Maloney. With both Kyle Kendrick and J.D. Durbin in the rotation, the Phils had to try something.
Wayne Krivsky did well here, as Maloney was the Phillies' ninth best prospect entering the seasona according to Baseball America. He's more about deception and pitch selection that velocity or electric stuff. His upside is pegged as a #4 starter.

Too latee philly. With Teixeira and possibly Dotel, the Braves got the East on lock. Though this should be very fun to watch now with all three teams adding something, Mets with Castillo, Braves with Teixeira/Dotel, Phillies with Ighuci/Lohse lol. Phillies bullpen just isnt good enough.
What is Castillo going to bat? 2nd I am assuming.

Take it for what its worth, according to mlb4u.com, under "recent trades" it says "White Sox trade Jermaine Dye to Red Sox." Thats all it says, but it may be true.

Has Willy Mo Pena ever played short stop before? Why would he be an upgrade over Uribe?

Why do the Red Sox want Dye so much anyways? JD not good enough? Although adding WMP to the SS position would be an upgrade from Uribe. What? Wily Mo Pena plays right field. Not very well may I add. The world would come to an end if Wily Mo Pena was moved to shortstop.

Ah nevermind.
In that case, screw this deal. We already have two other guys who can play the RF position.

The Red Sox won't get Gagne...he has a list of only specific teams he's willing to accept a trade to in his contract, and the only contenders on that list are the Mets and Yankees. Apparently, the Rangers have lowered their asking price and are no longer asking Cashman for Hughes, Chamberlain, or Kenendy, but we'll see what happens.

The asking price was Chamberlain or Hughes. Now its been lowered to Kennedy, Melky, Marquez or Clippard but supposedly Cashman still wont meet the asking price. He stupid as . We have a bunch of young pitchers in or system, Marquez and Clippard dont really have a future with this team unless its in the bullpen with Wang, Hughes, Chamberlain, Kennedy, Sanchez, Horne, Karstens, Rasner, Ohlendorf ahead of them. Marquez has a better chance of becoming a reliever since Clippard was projected to eat a lot of innings as a 4/5 starter, and you dont want that guy in your pen. Marquez could be an effective reliever when you need a DP because he is a groundball pitcher. I would be happy to surrender Clippard/Marquez to get Gagne.

agreed buck up tim, you may be getting baseball's equivilance to dr. jekyll and mr. hyde in kyle lohse. called it, it was about as suprising as the reds acquiring lohse from the twins last year.

The Red Sox as of right now are the only team that has a LOCK on the playoffs, if somebody is looking to be traded to a contender with the hopes of winning the world series....there is no more of a sure-thing than the Red Sox, because nobody else is a lock to make the playoffs.

I didn't read that at all. The latest I read about Gagne is that it would only take about 3 prospects to acquire him, Melky, Chamberlain, Hughes, and Kennedy not included.
Just my opinion, but I think a deal will get done for somebody. If the deadline comes and goes and the Yankees don't acquire a reliever and/ or bench player, I would be absolutely shocked.
Farnsworth will likely be moved...he was complaining yesterday about Torre not using him as frequently as he'd like him to, and he also turned his back to Posada when he tried to have a conference on the mound with him yesterday.
