Before Ron Mahay was set to be included in the Mark Teixeira deal, the Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers said he was hearing Gerald Laird and Mahay to the Cubs for Felix Pie was a possibility.
I dont believe that was on the table.
If we can get Dye for WMP and Masterson or Hansen, do the damn thing.
That'd be a great move for the White Sox too

I dont believe that was on the table. I don't either honestly, for one reason: Phil Rogers is a HUGE moron There was talk we were interested in both Mahay and Laird, but for Pie? I really, really, really doubt that.

Ron Mahay is a former replacement player and not that great, Laird would be good for the Cubs though

well Jason Kendall's done, I thought maybe a move to the NL would help him a little, but he's done as a hitter of any caliber... Koyie Hill can provide more production with the bat and as much behind the plate.
But Pie for a guy like Gerald Laird is a stupid rumor. even Jim Hendry isn't that dumb.
Not that Laird wouldn't be an upgrade... but for our #1 prospect, no thanks.

Apparently Tim Kurkjian is reporting that a deal between the Nats and Reds could get done by the deadline tomorrow involving Chad Cordero and Jon Rauch to Cincinnati in exchange for Adam Dunn. I think I am going to kill wayne krivsky Why is that so bad? Dunn is a terrible fielder, strikes out 190 times a year, your bullpen sucks and Washingtons stupid as because Dunns leaving this winter anyway because his option goes away if hes traded, and you get two solid relievers in exchange. Sign Cordero for the long term, and your set at closer for a long time to come.

Not only are the Braves getting Mark Teixeira, but they're close to acquiring Octavio Dotel from the Royals, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

The Mets are close to acquiring second baseman Luis Castillo from the Twins for two minor leaguers, according to major-league sources.
Castillo would replace Jose Valentin, who recently suffered a season-ending broken shin when he fouled a pitch off his leg. The Mets had been using Ruben Gotay and Damion Easley at second, but Castillo is a proven everyday player who helped the Marlins win the 2003 World Series.
Castillo, earning $5.75 million, is a free agent at the end of the season.
