Yes, it's very real. It was probably the most famous error card of all-time. Hardly worth anything now, but back then, and for a few years, it was worth a good $20 bucks. There are 3 or 4 different "corrected" versions of it too.

The Frank Thomas error of his RC is the rarest I think.
I was telling you about Turnblow last year too and I was right. I will call you kid because unfortunately, I am probably older than you.

sports cards got stupid to me when people quit caring about rookie cards and old cards, and preferred stupid short printed insert cards.

agreed. now you gotta get a 1/1 or 1/10 rookie to mean something.

I mean, why should a 2007 flashback 1/10 card of Ryne Sandberg be worth more than his rookie card? It shouldn't. As a consequence, most people have no interest in the older cards.

Garland and Buehrle are both "pitch to contact" guys and I don't think either one are any sort of ace. This is why no one sees him as a top flight pitcher. Because "sex sells." In baseball "sex" is strikeouts, and lighting up the radar gun with 93, 94, 95+. You don't have to strike out 200 batters, or hit 95 on the gun to be an "ace" or an effective pitcher. Aside from one terrible half season, Buehrle has been a pretty consistant pitcher, and a 3.20-3.80 ERA, which is his usual number is fantastic in the American League. Buerhle has pitched 6 full seasons. He has been a three time all-star, finished in the top 5 cy young voting once(2005), finished top 5 in era 3 times(01, 04, 05), top 10 in wins 3 times(02, 04, 05), top 10 in WHIP 3 times(01, 04, 05), top 5 in shutouts and complete games 4 times, and probably most importantly- top 5 in innings pitched 4 times. You can throw in a World Series, and a no-hitter... and the fact that he has the 18th highest ERA+ out of active pitchers. Better than notables- Andy Pettitte, Chris Carpenter, Ben Sheets, Tom Glavine, Jason Schmidt, Jon Garland, and a bunch of others... So I don't know what your definition of an "Ace" is, but Mark Buehrle can pitch for my team any year. Couldn't have said it any better than myself. I will never understand why being a "pitch to contact" guy means you're not an ace. That is one of the most asinine statements I've ever heard. Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux would like a word with you. That being said, I do agree with Ralpho that I would be weary of giving up what it will take to get Buehrle on my team, either by way of prospects at the deadline or cash in the offseason (and you know it's going to take a lot). The guy has thrown more than 1500 innings in the equivalent of about seven full seasons. Matter-of-factly the guy has been put through the meat grinder and any concerns about his arm going out in the next few years are valid ones in my opinion. Still doesn't change the fact that Buehrle has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this decade.

White Sox fans are demanding Bostons top 2 prospects and WMP, maybe they would like "Sandwich pick" for him when he leaves via FA.

If Boston isn't willing to give up what it takes to get him, another team will. Simple as that. He's arguably the top commodity on the market right now.

Buehrle is probably one of the most valuable trade chips right now, and if the team who acquires him can extend him before he hits free agency, its a good deal. He is a top flight left handed starter in the prime of his career... you're not going to get a guy like that for free.
The "pitch to contact" assesment is a joke. Most pitchers are "pitch to contact" pitchers. More pitchers rely on contact that striking guys out, because there are more pitchers that throw 86-90 than there are pitchers who throw 91+.
I like Buehrle, always have. I'd love to see the Yankees sign him next season. However, I wouldn't want to give away anything big to get him this year. I understand the unwillingness to deal top prospects to acquire him, but should Chicago choose to deal him, they should get value back, because you're not dealing with a salary dump, and you're not dealing with a garbage player. You're dealing with one of the top free agents available next season, and he should be traded accordingly.
