I dont understand how you call him the ace with Jon Garland there.
We had this debate like 2 weeks ago, he is going to get overpaid or over traded for, he will be like a 3-4 starter in Boston. Frankly, I dont like the man, dont really wanan give him 15-16$ a year either or 2 of our top 5 prospects

Joe Torre might be the dumbest manager on the planet. Johnny Damon said that his ribs were finally starting to feel better when he went a day without hitting. So what does Joe Torre do? He uses him to pinch hit in 2/3 games in this series against SF. He's had Clemens warm up 3 different times today and is going to use his 45-year-old starter with a history of groin problems as a reliever because it's his throw day. He rests Posada and Abreu both on the same day, so we lose both of their bats in the lineup. Only to have them both pinch hit in the game anyway. Honestly...this man is just an ass. I won't even get into why Wil Nieves still has a job in baseball. I'll save that rant for another day. Thank God Im not the only Yankee Fan who thinks Torre is dumb. I agree with everything you said. 3 errors we cant even field anymore. WE NEED TO CLEAN HOUSE THIS OFFSEASON. TORRE OUT GIRARDI IN!

I don't understand how anyone can say Jon Garland is better than Mark Buehrle. They have both been around for a similar time frame, are close in age, and have thrown a similar amount of starts in their career, so its an easy comparison.
Pitcher A is 101-70 in 243 games(218 starts), has thrown 1521 innings, allowing 1554 hits, and 642 ER. He has struck out 888 batters, and walked 345, and pitched to a lifetime ERA of 3.80.
Pitcher B is 86-73 in 228 games(205 starts), has thrown 1317 2/3 innings, allowing 1350 hits, and 640 ER. He has struck out 706 batters, and walked 443, and pitched to a lifetime ERA of 4.37.
Tell me... which pitcher has had the better career?
If your answer is A, you've conceded to the fact that Mark Buehrle is the ace of the Chicago White Sox pitching staff, and has been since 2001.

Why would Lowrie be untouchable? Lugo is still signed for 3 more years and so is Pedroia. Neither is going anywhere. I meant the Red Sox shouldnt trade him because if your current SS is hitting below .200, they should at least have a more than capable backup. Yes, unfortunately Lugo isnt going anywhere and the Sox wouldnt even be able to trade him for foul line chalk dust at this point.

Garland and Buehrle are both "pitch to contact" guys and I don't think either one are any sort of ace.

Nash stop whining like a little girl, I never said any of you were wrong. I have stated over and over I dont like him, I think hes overrated and not an ace. I didnt fight and get into a huge argument over this.
I dont really care, the White Sox are terrible, he'd be better suited for the NL. Personally, Id rather not have him here.
OH MY GOD RALPHO THINKS HES ALQWAYS RIGHT WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WAHHHHHHHHHHHHh

Garland and Buehrle are both "pitch to contact" guys and I don't think either one are any sort of ace. This is why no one sees him as a top flight pitcher. Because "sex sells." In baseball "sex" is strikeouts, and lighting up the radar gun with 93, 94, 95+. You don't have to strike out 200 batters, or hit 95 on the gun to be an "ace" or an effective pitcher. Aside from one terrible half season, Buehrle has been a pretty consistant pitcher, and a 3.20-3.80 ERA, which is his usual number is fantastic in the American League. Buerhle has pitched 6 full seasons. He has been a three time all-star, finished in the top 5 cy young voting once(2005), finished top 5 in era 3 times(01, 04, 05), top 10 in wins 3 times(02, 04, 05), top 10 in WHIP 3 times(01, 04, 05), top 5 in shutouts and complete games 4 times, and probably most importantly- top 5 in innings pitched 4 times. You can throw in a World Series, and a no-hitter... and the fact that he has the 18th highest ERA+ out of active pitchers. Better than notables- Andy Pettitte, Chris Carpenter, Ben Sheets, Tom Glavine, Jason Schmidt, Jon Garland, and a bunch of others... So I don't know what your definition of an "Ace" is, but Mark Buehrle can pitch for my team any year.

My point is, Mark Buehrle has been a top 5 pitcher in the stronger offensive league for the past 6 seasons. How exactly does that not make him an "ace?" Just because you don't like someone, doesn't mean they're not good... I certainly can't name too many more pitchers based on age, experience, and stuff that I'd rather have.

Corey Hart says you and hits a home run to tie it up. Corey Hart's name is just one of many reasons I love baseball. If only he wore his sunglasses during night games he'd be my favorite baseball player ever. Im going to send an email to them about having a "Corey Hart sunglasses Giveaway Night"
