Finally got around to seeing Joker. Meh... It's a well executed drama with a third act that finally gets a pulse but I don't have a clue what people are ranting and raving about. The apartment scene was great and the show studio scenes reminiscent of The Dark Knight Returns were excellent, but I feel there were more Easter eggs built into the film than moments I actually cared about.
As far as a human piece, or commentary on bullying and mental illness, not for me. He's a weak character with a weak moral compass, and he's a product of his environment. It sends a message that we just need a good excuse to be weak willed. That's not the Joker imo. That's not even a good enough excuse to shoot up a movie theater for me, let alone become the Crown Prince of Crime. They almost spend too much time showing his descent into madness and not enough time demonstrating that he is, in fact, mad.
And also, this film copies the absolute sh*t out of Tax Driver. King of Comedy too, but that was more homage than blatant theft. It all felt like it had been done before to me. I guess that works for people who either really love those films or who have never seen them. Again, not for me. I guess it was about what I expected prior to people going bananas over it, but I think it lacks a ton of soul as far as an actual Joker adaption. It got virtually nothing right about the Joker. That would have been totally fine if we didn't have 80 years of Joker lore.

Anyone watch Black Lightning? I really enjoyed the ending Khalil scene in the last episode. And am really excited for Wayne Brady!

I don't watch Black Lightning but I think Ill give it a whirl....it is getting some great reviews of some lads I know...& we all like the same kind of stuff.
So Birds Of Prey is opening this weekend & I haven't heard one person mention it or have seen any promos...the DCEU has totally fell off my interest radar & a lot of other folks too I think. seems to be f*ck all on the horizon to ignite interest either.

I really like Black Lightning! Especially the first two seasons. Season three, for me, isn't as good, but season one is great in my opinion! Love the music selection and it feels more expensive than the other CW shows.

I quite enjoy Black Lightning. It is the kind of show that got better and better for me. I hated and I mean freaking hated his youngest daughter in the first season! But I got over it and do enjoy the show now.

Though I know Wayne Brady is about to guest star on it and I cannot wait! If he's the villain for the rest of the season, I'll be happy!

Matt Reeves released a screen test shot of the Pattinson suit.
Not a fan of them going back to an armored look similar to the Dark Knight. Never been a fan of that look.
Say what you will about the films, but visually nobody will beAt Batfleck for me. The suit was straight out of the comics and this new look is a step back IMO.

Yeah I always hated the heavy armor look too, realistic as it would be. But hey, we're making a comic book movie so let's have fun and throw a little reality away.😉 I still do like what we got to see so far though and the idea that the chest symbol might actually be a detachable batarang from the looks of it could be really cool...but yeah ultimately it looks like the Afleck Batsuit is still gonna be my all time fav. Just about perfect.
Also if that is an early version of the actual score, I'm loving that so far too. Sounds like it fits really well with this being more of a detective, mystery story.

I love it. Also love when he beats the sh*te outta the Russians near the end of BvS.

He was the one part of BvS that fans and critics seemed to praise. Yeah he had his drinking issues, but he got clean and wanted to stay in the role. But because Live by Night flopped and BvS took in a smaller return than they expected, they used his drinking as a reason the force him out (despite WB producers constantly meddling in the production of the DC movies at the time). Ben just seemed happy when it all ended due to the WB crap he went through, but still a shame considering he still wanted to work with the role.

Affleck was incredible as Batman. His suit was amazing. He looked straight out of the comics as both Bruce and the Bat. He should have gotten a solo film and there should have been zero Justice League anything before that happened. Imagine being told you're going to be Batman, write Batman, and director Batman. Then the studio annoys you so much to the point that you drop out as director, then writer, and then actor. I have zero expectation for The Batman being anything other than unmitigated trash.

Disappointed with this season of Black Lightning. Definitely my least favorite season thus far. Finale fell kinda flat for me. I liked Wayne Brady and I liked then he came in, but they introduced him so late into the season.

Things that should have happened after BvS & before Justice League in this exact order: Wonder Woman Batman Aquaman Man Of Steel II( leads into JL)

I feel like Batwoman's best episodes come when they focus on Beth/Alice. I think that's a real problem when the best episodes happen when your lead character is barely in it.
