The outfield could turn out to be something special too with Beltran, Ichiro, and Soriano if this was 2006 Fixed it for you. I was saying they'd be the outfield on your DL/rehab team.

well since Tanaka isn't coming to the US any time soon, I'm totally fine with the Yankees offering Johan Santana a nice little incentive-laden spring training invite contract, and possibly getting Bartolo Colon v2.0 next season as a best case scenario.

Tanaka is going to get ppppaaaaiiiidddddddd For a guy who hasnt thrown a pitch in MLB, anything more than 6 yrs/$84 million is insane.

I hope the Yankees can get this Tanaka guy. I hope he's not all hype, and that if he does go to the Yanks they don't use and abuse him in his first season thus rendering him useless.
If by some chance they don't get it done with Tanaka I'd like to see the Yanks take a stab at Arroyo for the 4th/5th spot. He's no ace, but he is healthy so he will be an innings eater, he's pitched in the AL east before so it's not like the usual "NL to AL" transitions that never work, and he could come cheap on a 1 year prove yourself deal.
I fully believe that Michael Pineda is going to be fine. He should be 100% healed by now, and unless there's other issues that they just aren't making public he is young enough and talented enough to still be something. Obviously he will be the last in the rotation until he can prove he's good to go. But I honestly think he will surprise a lot of people.

Cubs, Yankees, Mariners are my top choices for Tanaka. I think Seattle has a lot to offer with Iwamura there. Yankees have money obviously, but I could see Theo just go ballistic like he did with Dice K and sign Tanaka for something insane to jump start the Cubs revival.
I fully expect at least 25 teams to bid on him.

pretty good read from ESPN about the hall of fame and how it "should be" espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10173792/tim-keown-baseball-hall-famebasically saying that the Hall is a museum, it's not a courtroom. this might actually be the single best written piece about the Hall, ever. baseball does not care about "cheaters"....they only do when it's going to affect their PR image so they waste our tax dollars on stupid trials and investigations all while continuing to allow these "cheaters" to get multi-million dollar contracts perfect quote: "A positive test for PEDs did not keep the St. Louis Cardinals from giving Jhonny Peralta $53 million." the hall isn't some kind of sacred holier-than-thou palace of purity and innocence. its a building, where a bunch of stuff from baseball is, and a bunch of plaques with guys names on them or busts or statues, etc.

That guy gets it. I wish people voted in politics with the scrutiny of the HOF voters. Most of those guys get off on their own moral high ground circle jerk. It's sad and pathetic really.

Hmmm...I wonder where Tanaka is heading... Dodgers? Yankees? Who knows, but I hope the Dodgers get David Price instead. Man, we'd have one of the better rotations in baseball.

The Dodgers trading for David Price with no farm system? They should just go after Tanaka when all they need is cash Kershaw Greinke Tanaka Ryu Haren/Billingsley/Beckett whichever one isnt on the DL That would still be one of the better rotations though.

Everyone knows Tampa bay doesn't pay big money to its players and Price is due big money in a couple of years. A package of Zach Lee and Joc Pederson along with a lower level prospect might get it done, and although Tanaka is projected to be good, I'd still rather go with proven talent.

Mark Mulder is making a comeback? There is no way a guy who hasn't pitched in six years is going to be any good.

Mark Mulder is making a comeback? There is no way a guy who hasn't pitched in six years is going to be any good. Well, at least it is for the Angels. I saw he was coming back and thought "jeez, the Astros are at it again" and saw that it was the Angels who got him. The local news said something like 6 million dollars for his contract? They must have signed him piss drunk yesterday morning or something. Jeez.
