Cashman still has a couple of months to pull the trigger on something. Let's see what it is before assuming the worst case scenarios for the NYY.
Just hope that answer isn't Phillips.

Carlos Ruiz Wil Nieves Marlon Byrd Roberto Hernandez
That's a f**king All Star list right there! The Phillies have made the best off-season moves, by far. F**k, I mean the other 29 teams may as well not even try, just give us the Commissioner's Trophy now, because those moves are definitely winning us the World Series in 2014.[/sarcasm]

He's going to win the Cy Young, MVP, and the World Series MVP! Who needs Matt Garza or Ubaldo Jimenez when you can have Roberto ing Hernadez! This team is fan- ing-tastic! Ruben is the best GM ever!

Randy Levine - "We think he's going to be on the roster," Levine said. "One of the reasons the baseball people signed Jacoby Ellsbury is the two of them together present a tremendous dynamic one-two or nine-one, whatever Joe Girardi decides to write in at the top of the lineup.
"One will play left, one will play center, and it's a tremendous defensive situation. So no there's absolutely no intention to move Brett Gardner. We get inquiries about every single one of our players all the time, [GM Brian Cashman] listens, but there's no attempt here to trade or move Brett Gardner."
THANK YOU

I like the Gavin Floyd signing for the Braves. Low risk, high reward.

He could be Eric Chavez (someone who has regained health) or Travis Hafner/Kevin Youkillis (injury plaque beyond repair). No risk at all. I'm all for them saving their pennies to sign Tanaka, which I still expect them to do (recent reports from Sherman/Heyman/Passan/Rosenthal clearly point to that direction).

I cant wait for the day of his Seattle Mariners press conference I had to stick with my Yankees/playoff prediction, I don't like to say it's over till it's over. It's not that I'm necessarily confident the NYY will sign him nor am I saying NYY will def. sign him, it's that he makes so much sense for NYY that they should and probably will go all out for him. Based on reports and Brian Cashman's own comments, it certainly seems like they'll go hard for him. At this point that's all I ask for. Maybe a team like the Mariners will be desperate enough to make a ridiculous offer, certainly possible.

I like the Roberts signing....low risk. Not like Youkilis last year. $12 million my ass.
$2 million for a talented 2b who wont NEED to play everyday. Makes sense to me. When he gets hurt we have Johnson. Yankees need to get Tanaka. Bottom line. Tanaka/CC/Kuroda/Nova/Pineda = great rotation.

The Pirates have literally done nothing this offseason. Congrats, you signed Charlie Morton long term. Good guy, good low rotation guy, but guess what? He is now your second pitcher instead of your fifth. Fabulous.
Oh. And to anyone playing the Pirates, hit to first every single time. There is a black hole there...and usually I have to say that about SS, but damn Sanchez sucks so bad. I stand by my thought a while back that a few people were also on me with...I really think there might be a chance the Pirates start Jeff Karstens at first. Ok bad, good defense and can obviously make the double play throw being a trained pitcher. He was used on first in a few spot situations in the last couple years but they always had Lee, Jones, Overbay, Morneau etcetera that they could use him sparingly. That is...you know, if they can sign him. Which I doubt...because if you are not over 33 and over the hill, the Pirates refuse to sign you.

I like what the Yankees have done so far this offseason, Tanaka would be a really nice present...but the Yankees need to improve that bullpen because it looks like ass from where I sit.
Sure, at the end of the day, Robertson will PROBABLY be an ok closer....but Shawn Kelley is not good enough to be the primary 8th inning set up man, and Matt Thorton is NOT as good as Boone Logan.
Would have been nice to get Benoit or Balfour, just get another arm out there....gonna be dicey if the bullpen stays as is.
Shawn Kelley? Preston Claiborne? Dellen Betances? Cesar Cebral? Matt Thorton?
Yeeeeeeaaaah, not gonna have to worry about Robertson closing because if those men are my relievers, the ball is not getting to the closer with a lead very often unless my starter goes 8.

The contract the yanks offered Choo was ridiculous. I don't know why on earth he didn't accept it

Because the Yankees are a volatile team to play for and unless you know you can handle the spotlight, you will wind up breaking like Burnett.

The contract the yanks offered Choo was ridiculous. I don't know why on earth he didn't accept it Either he didn't want to be a Yankee, or Boras over played his hand and thought he could get the Yankees to increase their offer. Instead the Yankees called his bluff and overpaid Beltran a decade after they said they didn't want him.
