Extremely impossible to be elite for an entire career, no one is. Not even Pedro who IMO was the best I ever saw.
Saying "You arent a HOF'er because you werent elite your entire career" is foolish.
Mark Trumbo sucks and the Angels killed it in this trade

8x All Star 2x Cy Young winner AL Wins Champion in 2003 NL Wins Champion in 2010 Perfect Game Postseason No Hitter [1 of only 2 in history. In his first ever postseason game, no less.] Nearly 2 to 1 W-L [203-105] 3.38 career ERA 2,117 Ks That may not be first ballot but I'll be damned if that isn't Hall Of Fame worthy. And, the man that many regard as the best pitcher ever - Nolan Ryan - never threw a perfect game and never won the Cy Young. Let that sink in too, before saying Doc isn't a HOF pitcher. Nolan Ryan threw what? 8 no-nos or was it 7? I can't recall. He also won 300 games and is the all time leader in K's. Randy Johnson is second place and nearly 1,000 K's behind him.

And a no hitter is a great feat, it's no perfect game though. And again, Doc is a 2x Cy Young winner, the best pitcher in the league two seasons, something Ryan never won. Ryan also pitched 27 years, opposed to Doc's 16. And as mentioned, the times were waaaay different. Doc pitched in a PED driven era, from McGwire and Sosa, to Bonds* and Alex Rodriguez. Ryan's ERA is only .19 lower than Doc's too. I guarantee you, you give Doc 11 more years, he gets to 300 wins and 3,000 K's, since apparently, they're the only two deciding factors to determine if a pitcher is HOF worthy. I'll end with, again, Doc may not be first ballot, but he damn sure is worthy of the honor, and to even try and argue that he isn't is just asinine.

Halladay is a hall of fame pitcher. There's really no argument. He is NOT, however a unanimous first ballot hall of fame pitcher. that is pretty obvious. He should get in after a few "tries"

Apparently the Reds have shown some interest in Brett Gardner. Would be nice if we could trade him for a starter... Which would be Homer Bailey.

i will state this again i dont want Gardner going ANYWHERE. fml. The two things I heard were the Yankees possibly shopping Gardner and an AA Prospect to the Reds for Homer Bailey or Ichiro and Lower Level Prospect to the Dodgers for one of their unused starters (if Kemp, Ethier or Crawford are dealt) such as Josh Beckett.

Then again, its still true, VERY rare will you get someone who starts and finishes elite....Koufax.....and?

Only Elite for the final 6 years of his career. The first 6 were kinda mediocre.

The only thing that makes sense out of that is: A) New York doesn't want Phillips contract (which isn't that bad) B) They'd rather get Homer Bailey from them for Gardner. I think they are going en route to a deal eventually... not sure who the hell they'd deal for who though.

Cashman basically said they are only trading for pitching there are enough options in free agency for fielders and they only really need a new 2B
All I really want the Yankees to do is to sign a couple more free agents. Mark Reynolds would be fine, Infante's been mentioned before...and I'd like them to pick up one of the closers that's still on the market like Balfour.
