Yeah Cano's not turning that down just because Seattle is a shitty place to play.

The worst is, if just a few more of Seattles picks/trades worked out, they'd be title contenders.
Jesus Montero, bust so far Justin Smoak, bust so far Michael Saunders, bust so far Dustin Ackley, bust so far
Kyle Seager, Big Dick Nick = solid
Mike Zunino - jury is still out
Obviously think the Yankees are closer to a title than Seattle, but Seattle COULD be a title contender if things break

Have no problem with Cano wanting to play for place with most money but Seattle is like...an abyss. As you just said Ralpho, huge failure with developing prospects, awful ball park, city doesn't compare to NYC, far away from DR.
Still, money talks and everybody's got a price.

He won't. You don't fly Jay Z with you if you don't intend to sign.

I bet the Sox sign Choo now too, just looking at his OBP I bet Ben is touching himself to it

I could see NYY going hard after Choo if/when Cano signs.

I could see NYY going hard after Choo if/when Cano signs. I see a bidding war

Why doesn't Masahiro Tanaka just "retire" from Japanese baseball and then sign with any MLB team he wants? It's been done before.
The new news is that he isn't even going to be posted now because the new $20 million dollar max bid limit doesn't benefit the Japanese teams.

He'll probs be posted but to answer your first question I believe there's a "gentlemen's agreement" between Japan/MLB that if a player where to do that then no MLB team would sign him

At least Seattle is a pretty nice place to live.

Agree completely, great article, but I think we'll wake up to news Cano is a Mariner.
You don't fly your entire representation out there just to "talk."
