Twins just got a steal there. Hughes is better than his record showed this season Maybe he just can't perform as a starter under pressure, and he'll go to Minn. and be solid again.
Sad end for "the next Roger Clemens"....although lets be honest, he was doomed from the start. I dunno how anyone thought it was smart to build a guy up like that before he threw a pitch in the majors.
Still, people forget he is YOUNG. He's mot even in what would be considered the prime of his career. He could turn it around and at least be serviceable, like a Dan Haren type. Good luck to him, shame it just didn't work out in the Bronx.

yeah, postseason stats absolutely should count towards HOF status. If they count them towards a players individual achievements, they should be valid with HOF voting. Not like a player who pitches in the postseason is faking it. If you're not counting that part of their careers, why not just replace all players in the PS then? Schilling should get in based on the fact that he is a "household name" in baseball. He is "famous"....hence, hall of FAME. Maddox, Glavin, Big Hurt should be easy first ballot guys. Look at Maddux, Glavine, and Thomas. Let's assume none of them ever threw a pitch in the post season. Are they still HOFers? Yes. Absolutely. Now, let's assume Schilling never thew a post season pitch. Is he still a HOFer? No, he's not.

Phil Hughes kinda sucks BUT BUT BUT leaving NY, going to a place where he can just pitch, has a decent contract now, decent park. Maybe he turns it around?
He wont be the ace people thought, but I dont think he'll be the batting practice pitcher he was in NY.
Then again, he might just suck because hes so damn hittable.

I think Phil Hughes is garbage and I don't see him suddenly become good b/c he's pitching in a bigger ball park.

Also, Yanks traded Chris Stewart. Such a boost of morale knowing Hughes/Joba/Stewart won't be on the 2014 teams.

I think Phil Hughes is garbage and I don't see him suddenly become good b/c he's pitching in a bigger ball park. AJ went from being a nutcase to being the Pirates ace, and he is close to retirement. Just saying, getting the our of New York can do wonders for a player. And as for Stewart, like I was telling you on FB, it is still a better option for the Pirates than the Barajas disaster from a couple of seasons back. Though I wonder with The Fort being gone now why they did not give Sanchez a chance to backup Martin. Though seeing what Neil has done for this team I find it hard to question him but as a Pirates fan I am forced to be cautious about stuff like this. Haha.

I like Stewart. Solid player, really never did anything "wrong" just not a star. He was forced into playing waaaayyyyy more than he ever had this year and made the most of it. That being said, made sense to trade him. McCann's the starter for the forseeable future, and Cervelli will easily win the backup job.

I fail to see why Ant thinks him as bad as Joba...that is an insult to just about every player.

Oh no worries, the Pirates and the Yankees play this season so hopefully he will at least start one game in that series and hit a homer just to piss you off sir.

He'll probably do just that.
Also, as every day goes by I don't think Beltran will be a NYY. See the Royals caving in.

That seems to be how it goes. You send a guy off because you think he sucks and he eventually manages to somehow bite you in the ass. xD

Sounds like Beltran is going to the Royals. He's in KC and they apparently offered him a 3 year, $48M deal.
Never bought him coming to NYY.

a's have been busy
signed kazmir to 2 yr 22 million deal.(overpaid in my opinion. but, we'll see how it works.) traded jemile weeks for jim johnson traded michael choice for craig gentry.
i'm interested to see if gentry will be part of a bigger trade and how they were able to take on an extra $32 million in payroll.

Let Beltran go back to the Royals. I'd take Beltran for 2, but I'd rather have Granderson for 4 than Beltran for 3.
And LOL at Robinson Cano if he goes to Seattle for the money. Have fun disappearing off the face of the earth except for All-Star Games. In a Division with Texas, Oakland and the Angels, they're going NOWHERE fast.

Granderson for 4 years? Gross. Done with Grandy.
Beltran, Choo, or Ellsbury. If they can't get either, try a trade before seeing what's up with Grandy
