Regardless of right or wrong with A-Rod, and he thinks hes doing what is right and thats fine, but his situation or lack there of is probably handcuffing the Yankees from making moves. We shall see if they lose anyone because of the uncertainty of what is going on with him. He is gonna get suspended, he just needs to get it over with and not hold the Yankees hostage but then again, why does he care? Eh, Yankees have about $75-$85M to spend, yeah A-Rod's suspension can give them another $31Mish to spend...but this idea they won't be able to sign anyone because of A-Rod's deal is dumb The idea of the Yankees being too poor to make a move is dumb. Maybe they do/don't pick up another 3b because they think he will/won't be around, but that's about all the impact it has on them.

Peter Gammons just compared A-Rod to the Boston Marathon Bombers.
Peter is very beloved in Boston, he's obviously a huge Red Sox fan so I'm surprising he would compare a terrorists that attacked a city he loves to A-Rod.

Peter Gammons is the greatest baseball beat writer of all time, but he made such a dumb analogy and apologized for it.
A-Rods still a dickhead tho

No doubt but he's also been a Boston cheerleader throughout the last few years. His analogy was beyond dumb, people should never connect terrorist and murderers to a self-centered jerk that cheated while playing a game.

Assuming Tigers are moving V-Mart to First? Cabrera/Iglesias/Kinsler/Marinez whew. I think it will be more like 1B/DH-Cabrera/Martinez 2B-Kinsler SS-Iglesias 3B-Castellanos

It's just like Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, he's a major Tigers cheerleader. Dude is from Detroit, roots for the Red Wings & Lions, said his grandpa is a diehard Tigers fan but we're supposed to believe he isn't a Tigers fan? Please. It's a joke that he's a national baseball writer.

Plus, Gammons should have built up so much goodwill based on the fact he is the greatest baseball reporter/rumor guy of all time, even if hes a cheerleader, he should still be counted on and such. Buster Olney was very pro Yankees his first few years with ESPN since he came from there, but guys like that who are good at their jobs, you take their rumors as true. Remembering reading Gammons every Sunday in the Boston Globe, now that was good bathroom reading

Thank goodness, got scared when Feinsand reported a couple of weeks ago the Yanks were interested.

Hoops McCann on the verge of being a Yankee, I can only imagine what the deal is gonna look like

i guess they are looking at it as he's their catcher/1b of the future. i still get nervous with guys switching from the NL to the AL. wonder if mccann will be "exposed" or if he really is coming into his prime
Tex has 3 years left, and who knows how heathly he will be for those. mccann is 3 years younger, so if the catching thing starts to wind down they could move him to 1b after Tex is gone. As much as I love Mark Teixeira, when this contract is up he will not be a Yankee. Unless he takes some kind of hometown discount and sticks around as a DH/backup.

Hoops McCann on the verge of being a Yankee, I can only imagine what the deal is gonna look like Looks like 5 years over $80 million. Whatever. We need a catcher NOW. We can't worry about years 4 and 5 right now. By the time McCann starts to suck, Gary Sanchez will be in the bigs and it won't matter. Stewart/Cervelli/Romine played fine last year DEFENSIVELY, but at the end of the day we need people who can actually drive in runs. Who the hell knows what 3B and SS will look like for the Yankees next year with Jeter being old, A-Rod being old and maybe suspended....we can't get NOTHING offensively out of catcher again too. Last year we literally go ZERO production out of 3B, SS, 1B and C. That's a great way to miss the Playoffs, which is exactly what happened.

I thought Hoops was going to Boston, was really worried. The Yankees desperately needed to upgrade the C and now they have one of the best in the game. Also, people need to stop complaining about the money. Yankees have tons of cash, will probably have more when arod gets suspended, yanks will always spend as they should. Good deal because he's a good player. Lefty swing at Yankee stadium can do wonders.

For an AL team this deal works. Solid deal for the Yankees. Not much else to say. Fills a need that they desperately needed.

McCann has regressed a little bit from his earlier days. Was injured in 2012, but was solid last season. He generally gives you good at bats, and has good power.
No way the Braves could justify paying him that much. We have Gattis, and one of our best prospects in a catcher. He is a good player, good leadership guy it seems, and should be 100% this season and do well.

Love Hoops but he definitely isn't worth that. That contract would kill the Braves. He is already starting to decline. He's a good catcher. He will be an average first baseman.
